Western food has always been such a crapshoot in Hong Kong, but one of the few dependable options…read morehas been Chips, a pseudo fast food spot right next to the Grand Theater at Elements Mall. The menu is distinctly catered to a variety of burgers and various fries (err...chips!) with accompanying sauces. I have been waiting for disappointment in some aspect, but it's been anything but. The place is the perfect option for a meal before a movie. There is plenty of space from within that works for all group sizes. I appreciate they have an impressive number of condiments considering the fact they already have so many sauces to go with their chip combos. An added bonus for our non-Chinese speaking friends: The staff (especially the manager) speaks English. For an average of 90HKD, one can score a burger, some type of fries and a drink. I personally love the Brekkie Burger ($80), which is an all day breakfast burger that has cheese, bacon, egg, and a respectably sized patty inside a sesame bun. It won't blow most burger fans away, but considering the drought of quality burgers in HK, this is a very decent option. There are things other than burgers on the menu, such as the Atlantic fish and chips, but I would vouch for the burgers over anything else. Another crucial element to the ideal Chips experience: Black Truffle Cheese ($25) Cover it on the burger, smother it with your fries, this is crack worthy. It's so terrible for the body and incredibly simple to pull off, but they've managed to make it a must order for anyone who doesn't suffer from lactose allergies. It is sinfully delicious. A slight bummer for a mall operated business is that they don't accept credit card, but at least they take Octopus cards and the obvious cash. Combos are the best bet here, though if one orders everything a la carte, the bill can add up like any western spot. Chips is vastly underrated in my book, which means I'll likely be enjoying this whenever I'm up for a movie or just killing some time at Elements.

They offer a range of burgers and fries with all sorts of toppings to choose from. The typical gourmet burger and fries combo with a drink and will set you back at about $90. Ordering a specialty fries will cost you about $40-$55 and the truffles fries are my personal favourite. If you have room at the end, you can even order a frozen yogurt to top things off.

The kitchen looks quite clean but several chickens were sitting out in the open air unrefrigerated. Thawing, perhaps? Music is cheesy dance and the place would be classed up by jazz or classic Brit rock, but you're likely to only endure it for a few songs while you wait. I ordered the fish n chips lunch special served with a small salad for $88. Food itself was fine, but it seems there was a communication issue. I love nice, crispy fries. No love for limp potato. So when I asked "could I have the chips extra crispy, please?" and the guy responded "yes, sure" I thought I'd actually get them extra crispy. Nope. Good thing I went home to eat and could crisp them in my toaster oven. The fish fillet itself was solid - nice crunchy batter of the right thickness and consistency, though the fist itself was a bit flavourless. Lemon wedge and sides of vinegar, tartar, and catsup helped. The side salad was tasty and fresh and the oil and balsamic dressing tasted nice. I also like to be environmentally conscious and eco-minded when I shop and eat out, so I brought my own bag, but when I put it on the counter, the guy said they needed to use their branded disposable paper one because of the special shape and size of the to-go box. So I told him I was only going to take my order around the corner and didn't need a bag at all. Turned away to use my phone and when the order was ready, boom there it was in the bag that I didn't want. At least the bag and takeaway box are both paper and not styrofoam and plastic.

Has seats by open window area that face that water Vibe: mostly Jason Mraz music. calm Food: -Mushrooms - good seasoning of herbs, but not salty enough -Mashed potatoes - good flavor, but too much butter -Ratatouille - quite simple in flavor, needs more substance in seasoning or flavoring -Ginger beer - too sweet and not enough ginger flavor or carbonation -Fish and chips (2) - Seabream and Monkfish, Both fish were well-fried with good flavor. Personally preferred the monkfish as it was a more unique flavor. The chips were good. Larger cut fries -Mixed basket: Oysters, crabcakes and calamari I had were quite good. Didn't try the baby fish in the basket. Overall, the entrees were better than the appetizers. Price per person for 4 people: $200 I'd return for the entrees, but reconsider the appetizer choices.

Before I became vegetarian I loved their chicken. It's a juicy rotisserie roast with crispy skin. Signature fish and chips are also delicious. Now, this is food I would eat back home! My favorite things to get: the sweet corn (sweet buttery corn), mashed potatoes, chicken consomme. Go during lunch for cheaper lunch sets. I believe this is the original location. Its got a beautiful view on a sunny day. Kennedy Town is one of the most underrated neighborhoods on the island. It's relatively quiet, getting more gentrified, and full of hipster Western restaurants. Restaurant is right up against the water. Dog friendly!

Wah wah wah! Another hidden gem!…read more The food here is so good and there's quite a few unique dishes!! Seafood is very fresh and tasty. The deep fried tofu is bomb! Super silky and smooth, without a chewy skin. The salted egg yolk shrimps are coated evenly and the shells are edible! The mantis prawns are very juicy and fresh. I also loved the clams soup and the pork chops! Must haves: salted egg yolk shrimps, deep fried tofu, and mantis prawns. Prices are also very fair. Probably even cheaper than many other places that aren't as good! I saw a few michelin signs on the walls, but I'm not sure if it's referring to them or the alcohol they're promoting. But I do think their food is good enough to be Michelin!! It is quite a busy place so be sure to book a reservation!

Also known as "Hing Gung" (慶功), it literally means to celebrate and to reward the hard work the crew put into the show. Much like sik siu, since the eaters are of high exertion, the food would most naturally be as trashy as can be~ Healthy eaters might want to hit the return button now as the foods may be despicably fattening. Deep fried is almost the golden rule for every trashy food, even in Hong Kong; the famous shrimp toast is actually minced shrimp smeared on a piece of bread and deep fried to crunchy perfection; and you got it, the piece of bread is soaked with grease. To make it even more damaging, mayonnaise is served on the side for you to dip the toast in. Damaging as it seems, but it is also very gratifying and is often the dish that is cleared the soonest. Hing Gung is often an event of the nights and there aren't a lot of joint cater to this batch of customers at this time of the day. I still remember walking into this shop with the waiter asking us to wait outside the shop at 11 in the evening, while they were trying hard to rearrange the tables to sit the 15 of us down. For a restaurant that is still crowded towards midnight, you know they must have done something right.
