Hooked Up Installs installed a full home-automation & media system for my home about 10 years ago, and they also upgraded and made significant additions to the system a year or so ago. In the 10 years that I have had the system they installed and have been working with them, everything has worked perfectly 99.9% of the time - there have been maybe 2 or 3 times total when I've reached out to them for help with some minor glitch over the course of 10 years. Pretty impressive considering all the different components that are involved in the system. And even on those 2 or 3 occasions where I had a question or needed help, which is usually in the evening when I'm most often using the system, they respond incredibly fast and have solved everything quickly and remotely, and always with a very friendly approach. Brent, Jim, and Adam are a great team. read more

I bought a new home home theater system, and couldn't figure out how to get the Blu Ray, the LCD TV, the Wii, and the Receiver all synched up. Within five minutes (not kidding) after submitting my info, I got a call and made an appointment with Brent, the owner. We set a time for him to come over two days later. They got here right on time, and got straight to unhooking my mess and getting it all reset up. After about 30 minutes, everything was working perfectly, even better than expected. I had to buy two cables from them - but didn't mind, because they were way more reasonable than the retail cost. AWESOME! When I do more work on my setup, I'll definitely give them a call. read more

Hooked Up Installs - Home Theatre Installation Near Me - Buffalo Grove, Illinois

Had them hook up the exisitng surround sound wires that cam with my condo, including speakers on the deck with a separate volume control. Bought 5 speakers for hte living room, a receiver, and associated cabling, then 2 speakers on the deck as well. Arrived on time, and were very professional throughout the process. The system is great, and they were especially good about cleaning up after themselves during the install. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. read more

Brent Metz and his team at Hooked Up Installs are absolutely fabulous. To put the summation first -- if you want personalized, knowledgeable, friendly service; if you want to end up with a fantastic system that meets your particular needs; and if you want it backed up and supported by a guy who lives and breathes customer service, then these are your guys. In my situation, I was looking to put in a home theater system in a basement with some tricky placement and acoustic issues. I also wanted to tie audio into a workout room, and put in an outside audio link as well. I personally didn't have much if any technical competence to assess the issue, but I knew generally what I wanted the system to sound and look like when it was done. I found Hooked Up Installs on the internet and sent them an introductory e-mail. That day, Brent, the owner, called me. After that we went down a painstaking process to understand what I wanted and needed (and, yes, what the budget options might be). With respect to the installation itself, Brent and his team handled the job with the utmost professionalism, and at the same time, friendliness. The end product was spot on. Just last night my family and I watched a movie on the "movievator" (as we call it) and it is as fantastic today as the day Brent got us going, more than two years ago. Since then, I've recomended at least 6 close friends to Hooked Up Installs, and all of those folks have been just as happy as I have. And, when I build my next house, I am going to have Brent and his team do the entire audio/video/tech set up. I have no hesitation with Hooked Up on the entire tech set-up on a new build. I know I'll get a great system, at a great price, from guys I will like to work with. Not a bad way to do business. read more

Brent and his team are amazing! High quality equipment and installation and I love my system. I've been working with Hooked Up for 2 years and anytime I need anything (big or small) they are here to help me...and in a timely fashion. Their customer service and follow up is second to none and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for whole home audio and video. read more

I needed a new tv and power outlet installed in my master bedroom. I called for an estimate and left a message. The owner, Brent, called me back immediately. Brent was very professional and answered all my questions. Two of his employees come out within a couple days. His installers were great and very knowledgeable. They mounted the new tv and secured the Apple TV and cables neatly behind the tv. They ran extra HDMI cables with HDMI ports/outlets below for later use. They cleaned up after the job and left everything spotless! I am very happy with this company and will use them in the future. I definitely will recommend them to friends and family. read more

Nothing but positive things to say about Hooked Up Installs! They helped us install Sonos systems throughout our home as well as install two new TVs, including a Samsung Frame TV. Hooked Up Installs provided us with a Whole House Automation system that includes audio, video, security and lighting. Brent and his team were very professional and paid great attention to detail during the entire process from design to install. Brent has always been helpful as we continue to add new features and automation. Our surround sound systems are awesome and the lighting scenes really set the ambiance in our new home. Our first real test of the system came on vacation when showing the iPhone integration to family members. We noticed from the front porch camera that UPS had delivered a lot of our new furniture and we would not be home for a week. Concerned, we called friends to move it to our garage. We were able to remotely disable the alarm, turn on lights, open the garage and reset the alarm for our friends to move the packages. What a cool system! I would recommend and use Brent and his team again. read more

I had an outdoor stereo system and workout-room TV installed by Hooked Up Installs. It was the best customer service experience I have had in years. Brent came out initially for a free quote. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable and was willing to work within my budget. His installers, David and Josh were excellent as well. Fast, courteous, and my stereo system sounds FANTASTIC! I had a small issue after it was installed and Brent went over and above to make sure it was taken care of to my satisfaction. I highly recommend them for all your home audio/video needs. I called at least three companies to come out and do a upgrade to my Theatre room equipment but couldn't get any calls back. Brent called me back within 30 minutes and we were on the move. I hired Hooked Up to come out to the house to upgrade some tvs, our Sonos system and boost wifi coverage. Brent provided a quick and thorough estimate, with great suggestions to streamline all of our systems. He is incredibly responsive and willing to answer any questions and adjust to any tweaks. His team did a thorough job with the installation and took particular time to walk me through all of the new functionality. As a testament to how enjoyable it is working with Brent and Hooked Up, this is just the most recent of many times I've hired them to install tvs, sound systems, wifi networks an home automation systems. I've never had a bad experience. read more

These guys are pros -- 100% pros. I'm a bit of an electronics geek -- an early adopter in every sense of the word. Usually I'm the guy who ends up fixing other people's AV system or computer when it won't break. This is all to say I don't impress easily when it comes to electronics. So please take that into consideration when I say again....these guys are pros! When we bought our house, we had a big challenge about where the TV would go...and how to handle the wiring for my speakers...without making the family room and our wonderful stone fireplace look like a rustic radioshack. I contacted these guys and Brent, the owner met me at my house before I even moved in to check things out. After about 20 minutes of talking to me about what components I have, how I want to use the system and what concerns I have, Brent came up with a solution which covered everything. By everything, I mean making use of beautiful built-in wood cabinets which were NOT made for modern electronics, a recessed swivel arm mount for the 54inch plasma TV to allow viewing from the family room or the kitchen and new in-ceiling speakers. On the day of the install, the guys from Hooked Up installs showed up and continued to conduct themselves as professionals. There was no random guy who reeked of Red Bull and the kind of sweat you only get from an all night gamer binge showing up and saying "Dude, I'm like, here to hook up your TV." Instead, a professionally dressed project manager showed up with his team (similarly professionally dressed), introduced himself and walked us through what would be happening, step-by-step. The install team treated my house with the utmost care -- they all removed their shoes or put on shoe covers when walking in my house (without being asked to do so) and covered every inch of their work area with drop cloths. They asked my permission to move my furniture rather than just doing it without asking. All-in-all, they treated my wife and I with respect and treated our furniture and electronics with the same respect. Oh...and I'm completely satisfied with the quality of work they did. Everything works exactly like it was supposed to. I've since had them install a new remote control system which works perfectly. Like any other company dealing in electronics gear, sometimes software updates or random malfunctions will cause things to suddenly stop working as intended. This was the case with the remote control. Brent's team helped to trouble shoot it over the phone and then sent someone out (no charge!) to fix it. I have recommended them to friends and will use them again if I ever decide to build out the man-cave in the basement. read more

My condo is outdated with thin walls, small closets and random wires- a combination not fit for a family with young boys. I desperately wanted to impress my hubby with a great surround sound system complete with central power controls for his "man cave"/ our living room. After receiving quotes from 2 other home theater installation companies, I was weary about Hooked Up Installs until I talked to Brent on the phone. He assured me the speakers could be mounted so that there wasn't reverberation on the other side of the wall. This was great and what made it better was the removal of extra wiring from previous owners. Everything is streamlined and clean and I was priced at an affordable rate! I haven't even mentioned the professionalism and genuine customer service. From start to finish, Brent has been personable and honest. The installers were efficient and on time. I was impressed with the skill and precision used. This review was prompted because I received a "customer satisfaction" call this week. The job was completed roughly a month ago, but they were concerned how my husband was adjusting and if any "tweaks" were needed or if we had any questions. WOW! read more

I could not have been happier with Brent and Hooked Up Install's work. They helped us with a home theater project for our partially finished basement. We had an ongoing construction project going on to finish our basement and they were great at working around the construction being done by other contractors and helping us figure out the easiest order of operations (like getting wiring run before our drywall guy showed up). They stayed within our budget, suggested great equipment that was perfect for the space and the install crews were always on time, friendly and cleaned up after themselves. They were responsive to my wife's aesthetic concerns (like the need to keep all wires hidden) and answered all of our questions during the process quickly and clearly. read more

We used Brent and his team at Hooked Up to install a sonos wireless system throughout our house and set up our TV / speakers. We plan to use hooked up again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. read more

We were in the process of building a house in Chicago, and Brent's company was recommended to us by our builder. We met with Brent while the house is under construction and let him know exactly what we are looking for; Brent was able to provide the quote & proposal soon after. Brent did not try to over sell us like many other contractors/companies out there, the proposal was carefully put together and planned to cater to our needs. Now the house is completed and we have been here for almost a year, my wife and I can not be happier with our A/V, home automation system. I would say I am a computer/electronics nerd, an early adopter in everything electronics related and constantly researching for new things online. I would consider myself a "difficult" client, because I constantly have questions regarding the latest technologies, and that translates to "many" emails to Brent asking random questions. Brent has always been patient, informative, and never takes more than a day to reply. Brent and his team, specially Adam and Jimmy who are assigned to our house are friendly, professional, and are experts in their field. I would definitely recommend Hooked Up Installs to anyone, and will continue to leverage their services many years to come. read more

I highly, highly recommend Hooked Up Installs. It's clear that the customer is their priority. From the beginning of the sales process, to working within my budget, to answering any questions I had - to the quality of their work - they are fantastic and they stand by their work. They installed a speakers and a Sonos system throughout my new townhouse in November. I have been loving the system. When summer hit and I was outside on my deck playing music, I noticed the speakers sounded funny. I email Brent, he responded promptly and came out a few days later. The problem was related to the wiring - it was my fault as I had move the units into a cabinet and had mixed up the wires. Brent identified the issue immediately and correctly wired the unit and everything sounds great again. He didn't at all seem bothered by the fact that it was user error - and he really didnt need to come out. Anyway... just know you can't go wrong using Hooked Up Installs. read more

This is something I have never experienced. Brent, came by my home to give me a quote on the project. After carefully discussing the details he said he will email the proposal in a few days. Well a few days went by and I never received a proposal so I had called and brent he said its on its way. Guess what it never came. As a company if you dont want to do the job dont string a customer along. Be forward and tell them you will not be able to complete the work specified and move on! read more

Hooked Up Installs are true professionals. We have used them for various projects over the past few years. Brent and his team are so knowledeable about all products and Brent provides great recommendations and gave us a great proposal with plenty of options that completely fit our needs and budget. We used Hooked Up Installs to install a sonos wireless system and set up our TV / speakers throughout our new custom home after having multiple companies come out for quotes. Brent took the time to understand our needs and wants over the phone, came to the house for a free quote and provided a detailed proposal that hit the sweet spot in terms of quality, performance and price. It was like he read my mind. What I admire most about Brent is how he worked hard to earn my business and provided excellent customer service during and after the installation process. He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, honest and customer focused. I'd highly recommend you put Hooked up installs in your consideration set if you haven't already. read more

I recently had a new home theater set-up in the basement mapped out, planned and installed by Hooked Up Installs and these guys were awesome from start to finish. Brent assessed the space and gave me an excellent quote for the work, including an installed projector screen, 5.1 surround speaker installation, the receiver, all the wiring - the complete works and it is perfect. The choice of hardware was excellent and within a week of the quote we had everything ordered and installed. The installation was first class and seeing the end product reminded me of why I leave these things to the professionals. Also remarkably good value. read more

These guys are great. Brent and his team provide great service and did ot try to oversell me on equipment. They were able to utilize some existing speakers I already had and quoted the project In a way that helped me decide what I wanted today and what I could wait for. Incredibly responsive, high quality professionals. Was very impressed with Brent's ability to mobilize his team in short order to fix an issue I had with another installer. We hired HUI after looking at several companies to install a whole home AV system. Brent and his crew were prompt, professional, extremely knowledgable, and reasonably priced. The install was done quickly, with minimal mess. As with any install of this kind, some tweaking and programming has to be done after the initial install. This is due to both the complexity of the systems, but also to customize it to your liking. In my mind, the real test of a home AV installation company is not so much the initial install, but the follow up. This is where Brent and company have excelled. They have been very responsive (usually within a day) to any questions or issues that we've had, and they've come out whenever we've requested. They also kept working on any issues we've had until we were satisfied. We really couldn't be more satisfied with the quality of their work and their commitment to customer satisfaction. We really cannot understand how the one other reviewer gave them one star. Anyone can have a bad day (even the reviewer?!), but I would encourage you to look at HUIs other reviews on Yelp, Angie's List, and any other site that elicits user reviews to get the real story. read more

Brent and team are great! I had already gotten two AV quotes. The other guys were trying to sell me equipment / labor that I didn't need. I went through a major house remodel and Hooked Up Installs was the best company I used through the whole project. I originally wanted a fairly high end home theater setup with a multi-room audio setup. Compared to other quotes, they blew away the other proposals and spent the money where it mattered most. I was so excited about some of the technology (and had a little room left in the budget), I expanded it to a whole house audio system. They were extremely easy to work with and both systems exceeded my expectations, so I decided to use them again on a few projects since where they have continued to impress with their creative solutions. read more

I have used Brent and the team at Hooked Up Installs for 10+ years for many projects across two homes. They have great ideas/recommendations, do exceptional work, are honest and hard working and are just great to work with. Customer service unlike anyone else I've worked with on home projects - quotes come very quickly and on budget and to the extent follow up is needed they are all over it. I've referred Brent to probably 15 other people who have been equally happy with their work. You will be too. As good as it gets in home theater installation. read more

Brent and team did an awesome job setting up my home theater. He came in, had a great plan, offered affordable options, and completed the project in a timely manner. On install day, there was a minor drywall accident that occurred while installing an in-wall speaker. This was one, if not the best, contractor experience I have had. Hats off to Hooked Up Installs! I'll be calling them back to install a few more toys down the road. read more
