In my opinion this place started off great but their consistency really went down. Size portions seem to be off sometimes

I totally dig the fish tacos at this place! I keep sending my hubby back to this place to have him bring some home. The crispy fish tacos are delish! The calamari, we love! Especially my hubby, who prefers the meaty strips of calimari versus the kind you usually see at other places, where there are a lot of the tentacles, and the calimari are in circular cuts. But hey, that's a matter of preference, I suppose. I usually stick witht he same things, but I have tasted the other fish tacos they have, and they are all pretty tasty to me. A fish restaurant I like, your kids will like and the grandparents will like. Does not smell fishy at all. Nice quality fish, prepared with super sauces or quite simply. I have enjoyed the tilapia pasta with Alfredo, my wife likes the tacos. Good, pretty fast service. I would suggest organizing the sauce area better, a better container for trash, better placement of sauce cups and this is a little thing but I wish all the lights in the ceiling were the same color, the cold led clashes with the warm lamps in the rest of ceiling. Although it isn't the cheapest it is SO good! I order the blackened salmon with double zucchini and the delicious sauce on the side. This is my current favorite go to lunch spot. I work in Chatsworth and the drive is about 15 minutes each way but it's totally worth it. I've recommended it to others and they've all liked it too. read more

I love fresh fish and it is hard to find in the Valley. Everything I've tried here is good. I love the White Fish Taco's. There is a good choice of grilled fish - salmon, trout, mahi, cod- cajun or lemon butter. The fries are crispy and impossible to resist. Good fish & chips. The atmosphere is plain & utilitarian but the food is so good I don't​ care. It's clean. Popular at meal time. I notice lots of people call ahead and run in on their way home. Do you like fresh fish? Well, Hook'd Fish Grill is just the spot. It is a neighborhood fish restaurant - nothing fancy, but always tasty. My husband and I have been there several times and I have enjoyed my food each time. They serve fish fried or grilled - I prefer grilled. There is a good selection of choices, although sometimes they run out of some items. I like the grilled trout fillet and my husband usually orders shrimp. My only criticism is that there are very few side dishes. You have a choice between fries, plain rice and green salad. It would be good to add a few additional choices. I have been waiting for MONTHS for this place to open. It is a lot like Hooked on Fish grill in NoHo. Big, open, high ceilings, bright inside, lots of seating. Self serve drinks and salsa bar. Menu is great, lots of choices from salads, tacos, grilled fish plates, fried fish and shrimp plates and pasta plates. No Snapper though, I was disappointed with that. I ordered the grilled Talapia plate. Substituted coleslaw for grilled zucchini and it comes with another side, I chose salad. You can have Cajun butter or garlic butter. I chose garlic. The fish portion was big,grilled perfect and the sauce was amazing! The salad was fresh lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, not just cheap iceberg. It doesn't come with bread which is good for me, I would throw it out anyways. The zucchini was just o.k. It would have been better if it had been brushed with some olive oil before grilling and maybe a little seasoning. It appeared to be slices just thrown on the grill, a lil dry. It was very stuffy in there too. Having an open floor plan, with the grills close and high ceilings could have contributed to that. But it was also 100 degrees in the valley too. Regardless, they need to check on this because this IS the valley and everyone knows it gets blazing hot in the summer. The employees were super nice and accommodating. (Entrees served with a LOT of rice and cole slaw or green salad) Grilled zucchini was delicious as was my cajun seared ahi. I tasted the salmon and catfish and they were great, too. I printed and was able to use the Valpak coupon thanks to the reviewer below. They participate in FiveStar--not sure what that is, but the person behind me (whom I gave my 2nd Valpak coupon) said it gets you free stuff if you use it. I've only seen it there and at Cream thus far. Only bad thing is if you go when the sun is setting, if you are facing the window, you will get blinded by the light--even with their sunshade. Next door to Shogun Sushi. Long waits there...and noisy. This place is quieter and the food and service MUCH better IMO. I like their sushi just fine. This place is friendlier, more attentive, and less crazy crowded/noisy. Apparently, this place is new. Came here to get a decent meal. It's pretty good if you want to eat healthy, but of course it's pricey if you want healthy. The service is hybrid and since it's still starting out, I think it's whoever's open is who helps you. Condiments and some napkin dispensers weren't checked on which explained why I had to scavenge for different things. Got the grilled shrimp. Unfortunately, it was overcooked to the point where I could barely peel the shell off and i was so hungry so I had to eat them together and spit out what I could. They forgot my dressing. Had to stand there and wait until either the guy was done taking the order or once one of the cooks saw me standing there. The fish was also unfortunately tasteless. Also, don't be afraid to use salt, I had to completely salt everything because it was all bland. The fries were good. They were out of the bag fries. Couldn't really go wrong. Well we had high hopes for this place, but just threw away $25 worth of food. Ordered the mahi-mahi and it was overcooked, dry, and rubbery to the point that I spit it out. I called to talk to someone about it, I was told "maybe you've not had this kind of fish before but it's supposed to be like that." Are used to live on the coast and I know what fish taste like. After realizing this place opened up by my house I thought I would try it out. Who doesn't like fish tacos? I know I do. I ordered clam chowder, crispy fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Let's start from the top, the clam chowder was pretty good. Remember it's all realitive. Northridge is at least 20 miles from the ocean, so it's not going to be the best you've tried. On to the tacos: they were pretty freaking good. The seafood itself was cooked well and seasoned perfectly. All the fixings made a beautiful concoction. So what's my beef? The price. Now trust me I'll spend the money for good food but for the size of the tacos and the amount of seafood is too small. I would only return for their happy hour when the price is right. Pretty disappointed in 'crispy fish tacos'. The actual fish piece-just one each taco-was literally the size of my pointer finger. Seriously? I guess you get what you pay for because they are pretty cheap. Grilled Mahi didn't have much taste and a gummy texture. *Whats really strange to me is that none of these items were served with any lemon or lime. Would've give this place a 5 star review, but last night when my family and I were waiting, we notice that the cashier was also serving food. You might think that doesn't seem like a problem. But, no it is very unsanitary. Helps prepare food too. Handling cash, which everyone touches. Even credit cards aren't clean! Also, cleaning the tables with a dirty cloth and sweeping the floor, and going straight to take orders again. She probably doesn't wash her hands. Everything just spreads with germs. Great seafood place in the Northridge area. Had fried shrimp and they tasted as fresh as if this place was on the beach! If you want some quality seafood I definitely recommend this place. My only complaint is that the clam chowder is a bit of a small portion for what you pay ($4 if I recall correctly). It's delicious, I just wish there had been more! Disappointed! Fish tacos were ok. I got 3 different kinds and they were good. However, I got the tuna poke too and I wasn't impressed. They had chopped notions in it, and a lot of it! The onions overpowered the taste, but otherwise, it didn't taste much. I also bought the grilled zucchini and couldn't eat it. It did not have any taste, no salt, pepper, nothing. This goes for $10.99, which I thought was a little pricey for a place that's not really a restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. My husband and I enjoyed excellent meals of grilled catfish and grilled red snapper respectively. Crispy calamari and grilled zucchini for appetizers. Everything was very fresh, perfectly seasoned, pleasantly and efficiently served and--most importantly --scrumptious. This was our first visit as we do not live nearby. We both highly recommend it for the locals and for those, like us, visiting the area. The one negative I encountered was the disrepair of the bathroom facilities. I've been here 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I've tried the tacos, the trout and most of the appetizers and everything has been great!

Tiny fish tacos. The fried shrimp was barely OK, and same with fired scallops. Really a waste of time. The Shrimp was about $12, the scallops about 14 and the tacos are about $3 a piece. There was no fish to be found. You get a lot of fried breaded batter with little to no fish. Scallops were better than the others. Nothing special here at all. In fact, when they could have shined with some nice grilled fish tacos, they simply failed. I wont be returning. As far as the inside, it looks like they need to finish up the sheet metal underside as the wood support is exposed. and the kitchen range and equipment look slapped together. Decor was a turn key purchase form some marketing group that claimed to have beach and fish related props. Its pretty bad. Service was good from the with distinct eyebrows. The guy at register was trying to help, but it was obvious there was nothing good to recommend. He just said "Go for fried, as anything fried is good". No, not this place.
