This is a short review based on my first (but definitely not last!) visit. Will update in the…read morefuture. Was heading home from airport after a long flight. Was feeling hangry because I had planned on stopping at Hard Times for a bowl of chili -and found out they were closed on Mondays. So, pretty much pulled a name out of a hat and would up at Chuan Tian Xia because, well, Szechuan cooking uses chiles, no? Yesssss! I ordered Signature Dumplings and a bowl of Beijing-style Beijing-style Zhajiang Noodles. The dumplings were outstanding: a mix of shrimp, pork, and chive that were plump, juicy, fragrant with the herbaceous flavor of chives. The accompanying sauce was not too sweet, not too hot, just right as a complement to the dumplings. Yowza. I was a happy camper... ...and then I dug into my noodles. Double yowza! Thick wheat noodles topped with a rich sauce made from (I think) fermented soybean paste and braised pork belly, garnished with cucumbers. The portion was way to big for me to eat after my flight, but I really, really enjoyed it (and the remaining dumplings) for lunch today. Did I say yowza? I'm an adventurous eater so the menu's less Americanized items were what I would have ordered given more time (like Maoxuewang: can you say "pig's tongue, spam, pork intestine, and beef tripe"? Protein is protein, baby!). Just means I need to come back, and I will, as quickly as I can.

We had the Ma Po Tofu, chive dumplings, sesame chicken, and noodles and out of all of those, the noodles and Ma po tofu were our favorites! Service was quick and the restaurant was very spacious and accommodating.

I dont like sticky rice so I should have got fried rice. It could have been more brown gravy. Over all it was good and the vegs were fresh. Brocolli, carrots, etc. The egg foo young was good. I would go back, I want to try the honey chicken. Prices are good, spent $67 for two meals, and 6 spring rolls and a cocktail. Very good! The place is deceiving online. It's a store front but stepping in its white table cloths and red decor hanging front the ceiling. Very clean and nice inside. Met with reception at the door and they take you to your seat. I was served quickly. Just dont get the margarita. I think it was just mix, no alcohol, not sure. Get wine or a straight shot of alcohol with soda on the side if you want a cocktail.

I started off with the hot and sour soup and they bring out the fresh and crispy wonton noodles to add on top - which was excellent! They also serve hot tea and iced water, which is very nice. The service here is great also and that adds to the pleasant atmosphere. My egg foo yung was excellent and I especially loved the gravy, which was flavorful. Most places that I've tried their gravy isn't as tasty as Jack's. It was enjoyable Sunday lunch and they were so kind to wrap up my leftovers. With my check, I was given a fortune cookie, which was a treat as always!

I ordered delivery from Lao Sze Chuan a few months ago, but finally visited in person this past…read moreSaturday and had a very good meal. Lao Sze Chuan is a new-ish (open since January 2025) Sichuan restaurant that took over the space Busboys and Poets used to occupy. It's a huge space, but they did a great job renovating it, and it feels light and bright and modern - very comfortable. It's huge though - so I hope people know it's there and are ordering takeout/delivery or stopping by a for a meal in person! The service was very friendly and very fast, so it's a great spot for an in-person meal, too! Their menu is as large as the restaurant space, so there's something for everyone! They definitely have a lot of Sichuan dishes, but if you're not up for Sichuan, they have some other dishes that might fit the bill: dim sum (plenty of dumplings and buns), lo mein, fried rice, Peking duck, basil eggplant, Mongolian beef, and more... On Saturday at the restaurant, my husband and I shared a pot of white tea and a few dishes: crystal shrimp dumplings; pork soup dumplings; spicy tofu skin strips (shredded tofu skin tossed with Sichuan-style chili oil, peppercorns, and spices for a bold, numbing and spicy flavor); spicy and sour fish fillets (tender fish fillets simmered in a flavorful broth with pickled mustard greens, garlic, and Sichuan spices); a side of white rice for the fish; and red bean paste pumpkin cakes for dessert. When we ordered delivery in February, we shared: vegetable steamed dumplings; Yu-Shiang Eggplant Roll (tender eggplant braised and rolled in a traditional Sichuan Yu-Shiang sauce, offering a perfect balance of sweet, sour, savory, and spicy notes); crispy salty chicken (bite-sized chicken pieces deep-fried and seasoned with basil); salt & pepper pork chops (crispy fried pork chops tossed with onions and jalapeño peppers for a bold and savory flavor); and a side of white rice). I've enjoyed everything we've eaten (although I wouldn't recommend the crispy dishes for delivery for obvious reasons - I can't resist salt & pepper pork chops sometimes even though I know it doesn't travel the best), and I love how broad the menu is. I can't wait to return to try more of their dishes!

We sat there for 15 minutes after we were finished and I finally had to get up and ask the hostess if she could ask our waitress for to go containers. As for the food it was quite good. The dumplings in spicy chili oil were very good. The shrimp fried rice was fine, nothing too special. The general tsaos chicken was good. The dry fried green beans were very good and the lemon shrimp was decent.

Very elegant presentation for everything. The menus, the decor, the venue and high ceilings, the private rooms. Their menu had half to full page detailed photos and descriptions of almost every dish. And they had a large menu to accommodate to whatever you are craving. Their food was so good. Everything was seasoned just right to my liking. The spice levels for the sichuan pepper-centric dishes were the star but never overpowering or too spicy. And surprisingly, the pricing for each of the dishes were so low compared to the experience I was getting. Like I kept thinking how can this product be this good but this cheap? One of our fav restaurants now and we recommend anybody to pay Tea Horse a visit!

My aunt had ordered for us so I wasn't sure what she had ordered but everything was delicious. I finally met the owner, although I did not get her name. Our waiter was good and the food came quick since we were all hungry. Since it was my aunt's birthday, the owner gave her a gift which was so nice! My aunt enjoyed the tea cups and will put it to good use. I really love the jasmine tea and probably had a whole pot to myself. It was a cold day so hot tea was nice to start before we ate. I have been to Tea Horse many times and the food does not disappoint. I like the bar area and noticed the liquor selection was high end. I normally don't drink when I eat Chinese food but in case you want top shelf liquor, they have it.

I don't remember any decor, but what's the most important? Food. I was pleasantly surprised by the cost to amount ratio and the taste. They executed the dishes well. I like their Potato Eggplant dish which isn't prominent in other Chinese restaurants in the area. It wasn't busy at the time we were there on a Friday night so we had excellent service. Our servers spoke English and Chinese. Attentive and the food came out really quick. Overall, I would come back. It's not a spot to impress or to dress up to go, but if you're hungry and want a casual Chinese food spot, that's also authentic enough to bring a Chinese person, this is definitely worth a try.

But as is typical of Chinese restaurants in the DMV serving spicy food, this restaurant started out great with authentic levels of spiciness, but then severely toned down their heat level to placate the masses. Although this is a Sichuan restaurant, their shrimp dumplings (Cantonese cuisine) were very good with a thin skin. But their wonton soup was extremely below expectations to the realm of pathetic. The wontons were so tiny and mundane I could easily get larger or better wontons from a Americanized Chinese take out joint or even a run of the mill Chinese buffet. Their service also needs improvement as it took quite a while before a server arrived to greet and take our order on my last visit.
