The rudest group of groomers. Short hours, very impersonal (text only) and I've heard they are being sued for seriously injuring or killing an older dog. For 6 years, I used them as a groomer and recommended them to many because their actual work is decent. It's just within the last few times, they have gotten impersonal and uninviting. My son 1st pointed it out to me a couple of years ago. I started watching more closely and I noticed my younger dog (5) at the time, absolutely hated going in there! I've been taking my pup Scooby here for awhile and I always thought the service was great and that they did a wonderful job. I did think it was weird that whenever we set foot into this building Scooby would run to the door, but the groomer assured me it was just because he didn't like the dryers. (Yeah, right). I took Scooby a few days ago and he was acting very strange afterwards. I didn't see anything wrong so I just dismissed it thinking it was the dryer. However it's been a few days and I'm now able to see a huge scab forming on his face! Not only that but It's very hidden under his haircut. I know for a fact that he must have bled from this, I mean look at the size of the thing. the fact that the groomers didn't at least have the decency to tell me pisses me off to no end. It is extremely rare for me to write a negative review. Due to the incredible rudeness, abrasiveness and unprofessional manner the woman at the desk treated me, I am compelled to warn other patrons to beware and, if possible, avoid this "grooming parlor". My parents rescued a dog from PAWS in Tinley Park in May of '23. They brought their sweet dog to this facility to get groomed in July '23. First, the customer services was awful, as the workers were extremely rude, unfriendly and unprofessional upon pick up. The grooming job was jagged and incomplete and the price was $125 at pick up when they were initially quoted the price to be $80. As a nice, friendly human being, my mother still chose to tip which is unfortunate because the people, (ESPECIALLY THE OLDER WOMAN AT THE FRONT DESK!!!), were very unfriendly, unkind and unprofessional. We will NEVER bring our dog and have warned ALL friends and family to please not waste their time and money and possibly subject their animals to awful human beings in general. I wanted this place to work out. I have a friend who uses Honey Groomer and recommends. I have tried them twice and both times I have been explicit in my instructions and provided pictures. I have two doodles and want them to look like a doodle I do not want them to look like a show poodle. Today after their second grooming, they look absolutely ridiculous. As I said in May I had my cat groomed here at Honey's and they did a wonderful job. I called today August 14, 2010 at 10 AM and as I was about to make an appointment (I said, "hello I had my cat groomed by you a few months ago.....") the woman on the other end said "hold on" then I could hear her tell what I am guessing was a customer "she was going on and on" when the woman came back on the telephone I told her "I'm sorry you felt I was going on, that was rude, I am a customer" She told me "Can you get to the point?" This was the owner of the shop. I have referred her shop to countless people. She was extremly rude and I will never take me pet there. I agree with others. The owner is very rude. I had been going to this place for over 6 years (every month too). But when the groomer (her husband) cut my dog's neck underneath his chin and also near his groin, she was extremely hostile. They tried to cover up the larger cut underneath his chin by hiding it under my dog's collar. After my dog was cut, he retreated in his room for 3 days and I had to put aloe vera gel on the cuts for 4 days until he came around and healed. I discussed this with the owner and she suggested my dog bit himself. Really? Bite marks are not in a deep straight line. Also, how in the heck can a dog bite himself underneath his chin? Folks, the owner is a real hot tamale and denies any responsibility or injuries. I took my business elsewhere and I suggest others do too. The owner needs to take business classes because with her attitude, she is not ready to stay in business for the long term. Stay away very rude owners! I dropped my dog off today at noon and was told the wait time would be about an hour. They called me at 12:10 to let me know he was ready and then again 15 minutes later threatening to keep my dog overnight because she was "ready to go". Rude and terrible service! I brought my dog in for my appointment for 1:40 and I explained what kind of cut I wanted and specifically told them not to shave her down. They said she'd be ready in a hour. I get a call at 3 and I'm told that she'll be ready to pick up in 30 minutes. Its not even 30 minutes and I am already receiving a call asking where I am. I understand that I might have been running late, but if they wanted to get out of their shop at exactly 3 then they shouldn't have made appointments an hour before closing time. Not only did they yell at me over the phone, they threatened to drop off my dog at a hotel. Their services are always rushed and are not done right, they shaved my dog down like I specifically asked them not too and on top of that they cut her face. This review might sound redundant, coming from someone who has already given a review on a different pet store: I am well aware that you should purchase your pets from a breeder or adopt. I have done both. I purchased what I thought was the absolute perfect puppy for my niece from this pet store. Less than one week later the puppy died of parvo. I took the puppy home, I began training him. He really needed very little training he was so adorable and perfect. By the 2nd day the puppy began to show symptoms, he was coughing, vomiting, Weak, could not eat and didn't want to eat. I became alarmed and immediately took the puppy to VCA Animal Hospital. They gave me Nutri-Cal in order to get the puppy to eat. Like everything else he was unable to keep it down. I took the puppy home and waited for his test results to come back. The Vet called and assured me it was Parvo. She also assured me the puppy had the parvo virus when he was purchased. She said it would take two weeks for him to catch parvo and exhibit the symptoms he had. I immediately call the Pet store. In the most polite way I will describe their attitude and what was said to me: Tough Shit! I had not even had the puppy for a full week and he was dying. Parvo attacks small puppies and to be honest the percentage that they will beat and live through it is verrry slim. It wasn't until I placed a call to my attorney, the better business bureau, and the health department that I started to see a little more cooperation on their part. I took the puppy to their veterinarian. They shoved the poor puppy in a cold isolated room. I understand why it was isolated, but they should have had some type of heating pad for him. They didn't like me to go visit him. In fact they would try to stop me. After driving an hour and half I was lucky if I could see him a full 15 minutes. When I would see him he would have food smeared all over his face, feces all over his body, and again without blankets or a heating pad. When I would request these items, they would assure me once I left they would go in and give him special attention, clean him, and give him a blanket. They never did. They knew he was going to die and could care less. This was such a heart breaking experience for me. He only lasted one week from the date of purchase, but I assure you he was a stellar dog. When I returned to the pet store (while he was still alive) to speak with the owners (remember: it had not even been a week, 3 days tops) I noticed that not one of the puppies I had seen when I purchased him was there. Parvo is very contagious, I suspect these other puppies had caught the virus and had either died or were being treated. There were roughly 35-40 dogs, unless they are miracle workers I don't think they sold them all in 3 days. They refused to give us our money back. We did NOT want another puppy from that store nor anything they had to offer. They held our money ransom with as little compassion as they could. In the end, we took another puppy from the store for the amount we had paid the first time. The 2nd puppy lived, but had worms and ear mites. This Pet store in my opinion is TERRIBLE. I use to pass this pet store going and coming from work everyday. As therapy, I would frequent the store to look at the puppies and the pups would make me smile. Although the store stayed smelly (which I had expected from pet stores until I learned better) I didn't assume this to be an indicator of the staffs inadequacies. One visit, i fell in love with a pup which i was told was a yorkshire terrier (full blooded). The next few weeks i proceeded to purchase the pup to add to my family. Well as i figured the store was very inadequate from the paperwork they gave me to the information they told me. For one, my pup is mixed Yorkshire terrier and I'm not even sure what other breed he's mixed with but the vet guaranteed me that he wasn't full Yorkie. I also expressed before purchasing him that I wanted a small breed Yorkshire terrier, and the owner ensured me that my pup would be small. I even showed her with my hands how big I wanted it. I love my pup, but he's much bigger than I expected. I was also told that he had a microchip, which my vet checked for me and he doesn't have that either. Another thing that's very wrong about my pup is that he suffers severely from separation anxiety which occurs when animals are taken away from their moms too soon. The anxiety my pup suffers causes a great deal of stress for my family. My pup is destructive and wines a lot and has anxiety episodes when left alone. It's very disturbing for us and I wish I had read reviews before I decided to purchase from this store. We received a lot of inaccurate information to make sale. Never again read more

When I returned to pick him up I noticed a gash/cut and what appeared to be a patch of hair missing. I immediately questioned the staff. They were very short with me and quickly tried to dismiss my concerns. Needless to say, we sustained many vet visits to address ongoing issues related to the gash/cut. My dod needed to be treated for anxiety issues he did not have before this visit as well as issues related to him biting himself & uncontrolled scratching. If I had wanted my dog to have a disastrous hair cut, I would have done this myself. The place was busy but I realize now it was due to it being the nearest grooming place in the Alsip area. I understand I asked for a medium cut but never did I imagine that cut would mean leaving shorter and longer areas here and there. I had asked for his mustache to stay in place however they just went to town on it like it was never even mentioned. This place claims they speak Spanish but every time I asked something in Spanish I would receive replies in English. If you are too ashamed to speak Spanish, please don't promote this as a service or offering on your window. I won't be returning as it seems they have 1 or 2 haircuts only. Thanks but no thanks. I should have listened to the other reviews. My dog have been a customer at this location for years. It took this most recent visit to be his LAST VISIT. I was dropping my dog off for his monthly grooming and as soon as we walked in he saw the owners wife he went completely out of the norm. He begin to growl, bark and spit salva everywhere. He lost complete control of his body and passed completely out. It took a few moments for me to wake him up and I was hysterical. I kept asking her what did she do to my dog, he was hesitate to come in on his last visit prior BUT NOTHING like this. She never left from behind the counter to assist me with him or to even check to see what she could do to help. As of today she has not even called to see if he was ok after the entire ordeal. Honestly I don't know what happened or why my dog behaved this way when he saw her. BUT HE WILL walk around like a mop before I would ever drop him off with her again. My husband dropped our Maltese off at Honey's to be groomed. They called my husband a couple of hours later to come and pick up our dog. When my husband arrived they had brought out the wrong dog! My husband noticed immediately and brought it to the owners attention! The owner and other staff members began to talk amongst themselves. It turned out they gave our dog to the previous customer; who did not realize they had the wrong dog! The owner sent one of her staff to pick up our dog. In the mean time my husband is still not aware of what happened! After he waited a little over an hour they returned with our dog. The owner did not offer to give our money back for the grooming service or a discount. All she kept saying with an attitude was "it was a human error"! My husband called me at work after he received our dog back - who was very terrified and shaky nervous. I called Honey's and asked to speak to the owner. I told the owner who I was and I was calling to see how a dog get sent home with the wrong owner? The owner was rude to me and said her 13 year old was helping out! In my opinion, if your child is not responsible to not make such a big error; sending a dog home with the wrong owner this child should not be working at a place of business! The sad thing is we purchased our dog from Honey's two years ago and I have sent three customers to purchase their dogs there as well. They deserve 0 stars but I had to choose one to post! My friend has been taking her Shitzu here for years and has paid 35.00. I happened upon the place and my friend told me she liked it and so I decided to try it since Petco never listened to how I wanted my dogs' hair cut. I called to ask how much for my Shitzu and Yorkie and the guy told me 35.00. The day of my appointment the woman at the front desk was EXTREMELY rude!!! I went to hand her my dogs' shot records and she held her hand up and was like "no, I don't need that!" Really? You don't make sure the dogs coming in there around other dogs are vaccinated? Then, she quoted me a price of 40.00 and I said that I had been told 35.00. She sighed loudly and said "unbelievable, I don't believe he told u that." I told her about my friend who has the same dog and has been paying 35.00 for years and she says very rudely, "well whatever our prices are going up." I am a terrible dog mommy I feel so bad I brought my American Eskimo Doggy Fuzzy to Honey's Grooming Parlor in Alsip, Illinois. starting last year and have returned many times since and to only find out this Saturday that not only did they not properly groom my dog but they also ABUSED my dog. I went to pick up my dog and when I stepped out of the shop I realized he had poop on his butt. and he was very scared and shaking terribly, I also told the young lady when I dropped him off DO NOT CUT HAIR ON TAIL NOT ONCE BUT TWICE, and they also shaved my dogs tail when I walked back in to the groomers place of business and told her he had poop on his behind she said she would clean him right up she walked behind the counter with my dog and came right out and said this is the best I can do, he still had poop on his behind and my dog was very upset as well as I was. So I took my puppy home. I gave him another bath, my husband than had to clean the inside of my new car that had poop all over the inside. I then called Honeys Grooming Parlor and left them a message that I was not happy with there service and i also wanted to know if something had happened to my dog while he was there he was not acting himself when he got home I recieved no call back .I than called them again on monday morning and talked to a man there who told me my dog shit all over his shop,on the grooming table,under the dryers and also in there cages he also said my dog was a very bad dog and was very aggresive and iIasked why i was not told this when I called the groomers during the time my dog was being groomed to check up on my dog.and I was told he was fine and behaving great no proublem. My poor dog has not been the same since.
