We had several projects to be completed around our house, including having a cabinet built, adjusting a ceiling fixture, painting, and adding a light fixture outside our front door. Fred is very nice however he over-promised and under-delivered. We ended up having an incomplete cabinet in our game room, in which my husband had to have the glass custom-ordered and he had to pick it up across town AND install it himself. The paint job is a mess on the wood. The doors do not open properly. The shelves on the inside had to be redone 3 times for fear of toys falling on my daughter. As for our fixture on the ceiling, he could not find the right paint match, and after at least 5 different paints purchased, we gave up and have to deal with a patchwork of a paint job on our ceiling. (every time he painted the area, he would create a larger and larger area to cover!) Please keep in mind that we paid a large portion in advance to receive a discount. This back and forth went on for 8 months. We were told this would be completed in two weeks. We ended not hearing from Fred again and not owing the small balance. I would have rather have paid the amount agreed up on and the project complete. He did create some shelving in my daughter's room free of charge using scrap wood from the cabinets, so that was a nice gesture, but overall, the months of headaches, canceled appointments, and 4 different people entering our homes throughout the project was not worth the money and time we spent. read more

Fred Merchant (owner of Honey Do List Services) has done various jobs around my house on four separate occasions - including painting, drywall repair, ceiling fan installation, sink faucet installation, etc... I can't say enough good things about Fred. Not only does he (and his employees) do great work, they are responsive, honest and fair. On multiple occasions, he has helped me find a more affordable solution to the home repairs I needed. Heather (who handles scheduling) is extremely nice and helpful too. She stays on top of the projects and always follows up when (or before) she's supposed to. We don't even contact other contractors anymore. My dog chewed up the window molding next to our front door. It was an eye sore but it remained that way for a long time. I found Honey Do List Services through KatyPros. Heather answered my call and was very friendly and helpful. She even called me back when there was a cancellation to schedule an earlier appointment. Loved that. Fred came by 3 days ago (10 min early) to look at the damaged molding and got to work right away. I was at work but my mom was there to meet Fred. She said that Fred was very nice and efficient. I came home and the molding was repaired and looked brand new. Fred's rates are competitive. I called around the previous week and some contractors quoted 1.5 times more than Fred. I am very happy with Honey Do's customer service and workmanship. I am already writing a honey-do list for Fred and his team to work on very soon. read more

I first contacted Honey- To-Do-List when I was in desperate need of someone to install my door handle set for my entry door. I left a message and quickly received a phone call from Taylor Merchant. He gave me a reasonable quote and we schedule a date for the installation. He showed up promptly and did a great job installing the set. He was friendly and open on the other services the company provided. I had also ordered new lighting for dining room and hallway. He did such a professional job with the handle set, that I asked if he could install the lighting. Again, he provided a reasonable quote and we scheduled an installation time. During the light installation, I discussed with Taylor, the major issues I was having finding a new entry door for my home. He not only recommended a store to purchase the door at a decent price, but also, let me know that his team could pick up and install the door. David and his team did an excellent job installing my new door, they even replaced and painted the trim. I am very happy with the service I received from the company, especially after being turned away from so many contractors who stated my jobs were not enough money for them to take on. I called several handyman companies I found on Yelp, but only Honey Do List called me back quickly and scheduled for me immediately with an email confirmation, for some small jobs I have, to add trims around wall oven and dishwasher. But unfortunately it was a no-show and the assigned service guy never called me. I was going to give a worst rating, but then the next day surprisingly the company called me to check and rescheduled for me. So I changed my mind to give them A-OK rating at least they followed up and tried to correct it. Since I have found somebody else referred by Home Depot after their no-show, I had to cancel the rescheduled appointment with Honey Do List Services after my jobs were done by others successfully. This was our first and probably last experience with honey do services. They had someone come out and give us an estimate and set the date. Then we find out they won't be coming on the scheduled day. A little disheartening but not a big deal. We had a few small projects that needed to be done before we sell our home.. Long story short they didn't seem prepared and we had to go behind them to complete some tasks. I called Sunday to request for service. They took all my information down and told me a technician will call me to set up a time for the service. No one called me. I call back Tuesday. They have my information and stated again a technician will call me, it will be during business hours. A technician calls me after business hours that day. He wanted to meet that evening, but I could not meet, so he told me to call him in the morning he will be available. I instead text him that evening I left a key under the mat to call me in the morning. I need work to be done on my father's front door, in an empty home for sale. I told him please call me once he is at my father's home. He never called. I had to text him throughout the day, and reassured me they were going to my father's home. I text him that I will be on that side of town in the afternoon, he again reassured me they were working "towards my father's home". I said thank you. I was very polite and gave flexibility. I never heard from him that evening nor today. He is a no call no show for two days. It is now Thursday. I called Honey Do List to file a complaint, and request another technician ASAP, but I get a Verizon wireless message. I do not recommend Honey Do List Services. Very unprofessional, and I can only image their work quality as their customer service is horrible. read more

Taylor Merchant was our contact and manager of the job at our house. He did not do the actual work. We had the cedar pillars on our front porch Spring 2015 restained which came out nice and still looks good. His employee also scraped the back porch pillars which were in terrible shape and sealed with a high grade sealant. They are holding up nicely in our hot Texas sun. We are pleased to date with both jobs. After this job, I did ask for a quote on having our outside windows cleaned which I declined as it was exorbitant! Of course, there is no way of proving this, but, I had them work for 3 weeks doing a score of handy man projects. Their work was superb. But, they have a thief working for them. Prior to them working for me, I had a jewelry box full of gold...it was gone when they left. I reported it to the police, with a case #, I reported it to 2 managers as well, asking them if they were bonded. I have gotten no response from them. I even listed my loss at the rate I paid for it, rather than the current rate of purchase. I am without the jewelry that was dear to me. My husband is an Attorney and said it is my word against theirs. So, the situation is hopeless. I am writing this review to forewarn anyone who wants to use them to lock up and hide everything!!! read more

I would never recommend this company to a person I actually liked. So many problems with this company. First, I made an appointment to hang a new backdoor. They said they could come out, with the door if I texted them pictures - 9am sharp in a few days. Okay. The day of at 9:20am, nobody shows. I call, and they tell me they'll call me back. Nobody calls. 9:40 I call again and the scheduler says 'they didn't call you? Well, he's on his way. Should be there in 20 minutes'. I ask the scheduler if he has the door and she replies 'yes, he does'. The handyman finally calls and says he's on his way. I ask "20 minutes, right?". He says "20 minutes? Eh, I'll try." I say "You have the door, right?" He says "door? No. No door." So, after 10am, he shows up, his boss brings the door later. Okay, so that should be the end of the problem, right? But then he breaks part of the siding next to the door on the outside. I just ask him to glue it back on. He has paint that matches, so I didn't feel it was a big deal. He starts to hem and haw about how he didn't break that - he doesn't want to fix it. I told him I would show him the picture of the back door from a few days ago that shows it unbroken. He fixed it then. The new door doesn't go in as far as the old door did. There is a gap between the tile and the door. I asked if he could recommend something to put there. He said grout the inch area myself. This is a handyman company and he wouldn't grout and charge for me it. I had to do that. When he was leaving, he told me to call in to pay. I call in, they tell me they'll call me back. They don't. I call 5 days later because I haven't been charged yet. They supposedly sent the bill to the wrong email address. I pay over the phone at this time. Within a week, the door they hung moved in a way that it won't lock now. At all. I have called and called and begged for them to send someone out to fix my exterior door (yes, for free) and not ONE person has called me back. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. read more

Not a company to hire if you actually want the job done. I had contacted them about a fence job and was promised on a Friday that they would have someone out here on the following Monday morning at 9 AM. I received a phone call at 8:45 Monday morning from the guy who was supposed to be doing the job, saying that he had taken a tile job and would be tied up all day, unable to complete my previously scheduled job. I contacted the office again and asked them why had I not been notified earlier that their worker would not be doing the job as scheduled, but they said they "were just as surprised as I was" and would try to find another work crew to come out on Monday. Later in the day, I get a brief message from the original worker, saying that he doesn't know why he was double booked, but would be here at 9 AM on Tuesday without a doubt. It is now noon on Tuesday and not only is no one here to do the job, but no one will answer phone calls or emails. Steer well clear of these people, they don't really care about your business. read more
