They said it would be several hours and offered to drive me home because they would be inspecting the car. I told them I didn't want and inspection. Just an oil change. An aggressive bald owner/manager, J Mullins, came out and told me if anything falls off my car it "ain't his fault." Then he said, "You just want an oil change? Hell, I can do that right now! GOOD. WOMEN/VULNERABLE POPULATIONS BEWARE. I came in for a basic oil change and to ask if they could replace a headlight bulb. I've done it myself before--it's a 10-minute fix--so I figured it would be simple. At first, they seemed helpful and even offered to drive me home while they worked on my car. A few hours later, I got a call saying they'd done a full inspection and found all kinds of "urgent" issues: a dirty engine air filter (a classic upsell), a minor transmission fluid leak, and several other things. They pushed hard for me to approve thousands in repairs--nearly $6,000 worth of work--none of which was actually necessary. I know enough about cars to question it, and my boyfriend (a mechanic) confirmed that the leak was minor and didn't warrant immediate repair. When I told them I only wanted the oil change, they kept trying to add more. The most absurd part? They tried to charge me $300 just to replace a headlight bulb--a bulb I've replaced myself before. When I told them I'd do it on my own again, they scoffed at me. It was clear they assumed I didn't know anything just because I'm a woman. Their entire model seems based on upselling unnecessary services and grossly overcharging--any of the repairs they quoted could be done for far less at a reputable shop. It's not just dishonest, it's predatory. Please be careful, especially if you're not confident in car repair pricing. This place rips people off, and they absolutely try to take advantage of anyone who looks like they might not push back. PS: the only reason I can even give 1 star is because the shuttle driver was a sweetheart, and I had a coupon for the oil change that made it only $65 (much cheaper than usual given the price for my oil and filter alone). HOWEVER with the coupon, it was only supposed to be a $55 oil change but they snuck in a $10 "processing fee" (again, unnecessary charges), so it was still more expensive that it was supposed to be. read more

I decided to use Honest Wrenches on Westown Parkway to change the oil in my car after receiving a coupon in the mail. I dealt with Shaun who was very nice and upfront on their process. I wasn't excited about leaving my car all day but they have free shuttle service that took me home early in the morning and drove me back there late in the afternoon. Shaun was a great communicator, giving me updates throughout the day and a detailed inspection of my car with pictures. Overall I had a great experience there, everyone was very friendly and no pressure to do a couple of recommended minor maintenance tasks. read more

I had used this company before to get an oil change because of the coupon I received in the mail. My car is older so I wasn't surprised they found things that needed done. It seemed like a lot but I'm an old lady. I took my car in several months later for new tires, a check on my brakes, and to fix the warning light that flashed to say I needed to check my tire pressure. I told Sean I didn't want expensive tires that I wanted good tires. He said he'd take care of that. Early the next day he called to tell me they would be taking care of my brakes and with the tires it would cost $2400 half right then to get parts ordered. The next day I used their free shuttle service to come and get my car. Sean greeted me with the bad news that they had missed fixing the warning light and it would take $1000 for them to put my car back up on the lift and fix and re-program the system. Are you kidding? My car had just had the tires off and the brakes fixed! Then he said he could do it for less since they'd forgotten. $600 didn't seem like a deal when it was their oversight. I told him I would just check my tire pressure the old fashioned way. With a tire gauge. I truly believe this company up-prices their services. I feel like such a fool. Is it because I'm an old lady? Justin (who im assuming is the boss due to how sensitive he is about "knowing what it takes to run a business") is a very unpleasant slime ball to deal with. i called to get a quote for the cost of a new transmission install. he told me he wasnt able to provide me with that information, even off other similar jobs because he doesnt know whats wrong with mine. well the matter is i would like a new transmission installed, so again how much? well thats not how this works i know how this works is you want me to bring you a truck that has no transmission in it, you want to crawl under it for 175 bucks and tell me it has no transmission under it then give me a quote from there. dont tell me how to run a buisness!! then hangs up on me haha call back again for now an apology and that quote still because apparently we rudely got disconnected.....then sounded like an elementary child whining more about how he is in charge and dont tell him how to run his business and blah blah blah and told me im not allowed (hahahahhaha) to have my vehicle worked on there. the phone call however is free of a service fee. wonder if there is a 200 dollar fee for them to inspect your oil to see if it needs changed first read more

COMPLETE THIEVES!! I was stranded and had my car towed to Honest Wrenches WDM. They knew I was desperate with no other vehicle and kids to get places. They sent me a random price of $6800 to get it operational. I started calling around to local mechanics and they ALL know this place to be scammers. I had my car towed again to another mechanic who ran the exact same diagnostic scanner finding bad spark plugs....cost of $300 to get my car working perfectly!!! Communication is a huge thing for them. Did a complete check and provided pictures to prove everything. Ended up using them for my truck and wife's car. Happy with work although they are usually busy so it takes awhile. Offered free loaner although didn't take it. Definitely not a discount mechanic although you get what you pay for. read more

I had a car leaking coolant, drove it to The shop. They charged me $170 just to look at it. They said it is just the water outlet, they become warped over time. I thought awesome, it is right on top, 4 bolts, no obstructions! it will be a quick fix, I could have my car back the next day! Then he told me it would be an additional $516 to remove those 4 bolts. I told him the water outlet is on top of the engine, not covered by anything. He told me about their warranty. I declined service, I ordered a new water outlet (upgraded to a metal one) and got a new thermostat (upgraded to stainless) ordered new seals. Cost me $67 including shipping. I went in to pick up my car, they were in the process of selling a $368 car battery in an early 90's fox body mustang, you know, the battery you can pick up everyplace for less than $200 ($173 at Autozone) I asked him what his hourly rate is to fix my car, he said "it varies". I knew at that instant it was NOT financially safe to let them near my car. I did get a text message for my $170 dollars, they did do a thorough inspection and I did find out that my rear brakes need replaced. Because of what seems to be price gouging I will not recommend them to ANYBODY. read more
