I had worst experience at Honest restaurant, Mckinney, Tx. We drove all the way from Austin, Tx to dine here as we heard from friends that its good but we were turned away at gate saying that we are out of capacity for today. The restaurant closes at 10 pm and we reached there at 9:00 pm and if the website had been desciptive enough then we would have planned the reservation and called ahead.The owner of the restaurant was very rude and did not even consider listening to us. I wont be visiting this location ever. read more

Fantastic family owned restaurant. We are not too familiar with Indian cuisine but our waiter was happy to help us through the menu. Everything and I do mean everything is made in house. Amazing delicious and authentic Indian vegetarian food! We got the pav bhaji & debhang dosa for our main entrees. Pav bhaji is a great portion size! And the dosa is big! Both were delicious! We also got the pani puri and a mango lasso. The mango lassi tasted so creamy, but not too thick! And the pani puri was just spicy enough. Great service too. We tried out this restaurant for dinner and was excited for a great experience, but alas it was disappointing. We were seated in the "bakery" area seating and since it was still sunny out they had the blinds down. However, they have forgotten to place blinds on the unused door in that area which causes a blinding experience when sitting facing the door. Since they were busy we couldn't be reseated so we just dealt with it. Our server came to take our order but was not very friendly. She made it feel like you're in a drive thru verses a sit down establishment. I would have preferred to place my order via kiosk than have a server who could care less. We ordered the following: Mango lassi- tasty Pav Bhaji- tasty Dahi puri- was the last item to arrive at the table. Decent taste. Saag with paneer & paneer butter masala- both were served super hot temperature which was appreciated, but for the $10.99 price tag it should come with an accompanying rice or naan. It isn't a very large portion either to warrant that solo price tag. We had to then order naan and rice separately. Butter naan- tasty Jeera rice - ok When we asked for our check the server hands you her mobile ordering device to "view" your check then takes payment at the table. When we checked our tab we were charged and extra $1 per order for the paneer in the curries. This was not stated anywhere on the menu and was told it's hand written on some of the menus. The extra $2 was not removed and honestly for the $10.99 price tag for curry alone you have lost a customer. I'll continue on to another Indian restaurant that gives an Honest charge for a meal. read more

First time here. Waitress made great suggestions and we really appreciated the quality and speed of the food. While the naan was lighter than expected it tasted great. The korma curry was rich and creamy. The veg was not overcooked as some places do. The rice was kept it individual integrity but was not sloppy. Ask for the specialties! Been a regular for three years yet when I ordered recently pav was stale, bhaji had no flavor, taste nor the basic ingredient the salt. When I called back the next day keeping in mind their busy schedule, I called early, the owner was rude, impolite and was yelling at me. Added to that he told me stop yelling while I was still sharing my thoughts. I did mention the other items were finejust the pav bhaji, but he just started yelling! He blamed me for the order! Never heard of that before! and then he said "dont order" and disconnected my call.. Such arrogance for hospitality industry was shocking... I have read a few others complaining on the hospitality. IF customers who pay have no value and respect wonder how he is with the staff! Time to have more better service restaurants.. Dahi poori gets a 5 star! Garlic noodles gets a 4. Good taste! Samosa chaat gets a 2 star. Practically no dahi, n no sweet chutney. We had to add extra. Pav bhaji gets a 4, hubby loved it, i did not. I went with my friends and family there yesterday and we ended up waiting for more than an hour. The food and service were good, almost at par with honest in Ahmedabad. Although their menu is not complete and when we ended up getting a place half of things were finished. I have eaten Indian food at various establishments for most of my adult life. Typical Indian food like tandoori , masala, etc. This is completely different and I must admit a bit perplexing as I wasn't familiar with ANY of the items. Just GO! My wonderful server explained to me this is Indian street food. He also was very helpful with my choices as well as dealing with my intolerance to onions. I ordered a cheese dosa with spicy potatoes and I believe a masala sauce. This also cake with 2 kinds of chutney. Coconut and tomato. All was extremely excellent. The establishment itself is clean and modern. They gave a great assortment of fresh squeezed juices. I had sugarcane. I was expecting what I have received before at Vietnamese restaurants, but this was different and GOOD! It had some kind of citrus and spices I think. When I was done my server asked if I wanted to sample some of their ice cream, which was very delicious. He also brought me a free little dessert which I don't remember the name , but it was good! Went here twice since friends were raving about it. I'm a chai connoisseur (you can call snob, lol) so I judge an Indian restaurant based on how good their chai is and it's price. The first time chai was ok, the second time there was no masala in it and was boiled too much that it looked and tasted burnt. They had reheated it that it had a formed a milk film on top which is a big NO in Indian cuisine. And for this $3. When I informed the waiter, he said that I may not taste the masala but it's there. No apology, no reducing price. So there he lost my usually generous tips. First time they messed up our order and removed the charge for an item we never received. Coming to food, samosa chat was cold when it's served hot everywhere else. Bhaji of Pau bhaji was too watery. Their chats also have too cold yogurt in them. It's not hard to bring yogurt to room temperature. Especially considering their prices, they should pay attention to these little but important things. What they do well are the Indian sandwiches. I liked the kattappa sandwich which is spicy. Will try the dosas next time even though it's wiser to eat dosas in South Indian restaurants. read more

Pleasant surprise, the food came right away and the service was excellent. The dosa was very soft and the Idli was over the top yummy. You could really taste the flavor in the food. Too crowded and noisy on weekends. Waiting area space needs to be managed properly. We were seated right in front of the entrance and people were literally talking/standing over my head the entire time. The service is quick. We went with the family (baby) and the wait is too long like an hour. So, we have to go back. We tried going back again after few weeks and again it was long wait. But this time it took 30mins. After the long wait , we got to be seated. Then we ordered food but it took an another 30mins to get food but we received only half of the order. We ordered pav bhaji, sev puri , Dahi puri, uttapam, vada pav , garlic noodles. We never received sev puri and dahi puri . We kept asking the waitress several times and the lady who is making people sit. We waited for one hour or so and then we fed up and have to leave. Though the food is ok , service is bad.
