Outstanding experience from beginning to end. I reached out to Honest Foods to cater my mom's 90th birthday party. Tad responded via email and shared about his pending commitments and availability and then we set a timeline to touch base again closer to when we'd make concrete arrangements. When we did, he again he shared that he had a big commitment during the day but then as we talked through what I envisioned and needed, he committed to me that based on my order, he would be able to drop it off for my party, himself, if necessary. And truly, that's what he did. He dropped off the food, set it out, put out labels for all the food, etc. He was generous in every way imaginable. Oh, and the food! It was great. Everyone raved. The favorite by far was the spinach artichoke dip. Guests started looking up right away if that was something they could buy from Honest Foods directly. I also ordered smoked salmon, which was delish, and sandwiches, salads, an AMAZING fruit tray, and other dips. One person said that the ceaser dressing was the best she'd ever had and took home the leftovers. Highly recommend. Felt great to support a local business. Tad was responsive, professional, helpful, punctual and overall an amazing person to deal with. read more

We just had Honest Foods cater our mom's 100th birthday party held at her house for about 40 people. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Tad is very easy to work with in selecting the menu and making arrangements. The presentation was fabulous, particularly of the poached salmon, with thin cucumber "scales," and the Party Trays are generously filled. The Vegetarian Antipasti Platter was piled high with various peppers, olives, beans, cheeses and other goodies. We also ordered chicken salad sandwiches on mini brioche buns that were delicious. The fruit in the Fresh Fruit Salad was fresh and juicy. We also decided to hire a server to help during the party, and were very pleased with Natalie who helped us so that we could enjoy the party ourselves. All in all, a great experience! read more

Recently our parents association used Honest Foods for a grab n go lunch for our teachers. I cannot rave about our experience enough! Everything was so organized down to the last detail. It made it so easy and fun. We looked like geniuses while hardly lifting a finger. The value is incredible. The best part is the food is too! Can't wait to use them again. read more

This review is long overdue and fully justified. We used Honest Foods for an a corporate event (anniversary party), and I can't recommend them enough. They are first rate! They were incredible easy to deal with from start to finish. Tad and crew were wonderful. I reviewed the menu and had an idea of what I wanted, but Tad helped me rein in some of my choices since ours was not a sit down event. He helped me pick out items that worked better for our venue. The food and the presentation was absolutely fantastic, and did I mention delicious? The servings are very generous as well. Numerous folks asked where it was from and we even had an employee reach out to them for a personal event she was having. If you are thinking about using this team... do it. You will not be disappointed. Is a ten star rating available? I would use them again in a heartbeat. Thanks. read more

Tad & his team are wonderful! Prompt communication, flexible and accommodating, excellent value for the money, and DELICIOUS food. I've used Honest Foods for several events and have always been 100% happy. read more

Had an early company business meeting and was, Thankfully, catered by Honest Food for over 40 folks. Knew of them on certain TV Show Sets like: Chicago PD, Chicago Med to name a few (Looking forward to the set of Shameless when that opportunity comes about). Always top shelf catering. Today we enjoyed a Huge Breakfast Burrito (with Ham, Cheese and Ham), Eggs, Bacon (Did I say Bacon), Pancakes, Fruit filled Blintzes, Various Fruits, Oatmeal, Grits, Juices, Coffee a plenty, Plus so many other choices, I wish I could, but didn't have the time to snap a photo...just too hungry. Thank you Honest Food, for once again, having to enjoy your meals today. Cheers! read more

The food was great. Everything came on time. I was very impressed not only by the quality of the food, but also by the customer service. Tad was very responsive and reached out to make sure we got everything we needed. He even made some awesome recommendations! I would highly recommend Honest Foods for any event, and I will definitely be ordering from here in the future! read more

This review is for a brunch catered for 25 people on 6/11/17. I made an inquiry on their website and Loni got back to me promptly with an estimate the next day. Booking a date and payment was super easy. She was friendly, helpful, and prompt with any questions I had about the food options. We ordered an array of wraps, antipasti, pasta, fruit/cheese platter, breakfast pastries, bagels, and lox along with coffee/tea boxes. The food was absolutely delicious! I received lots of compliments for the food offered that day and several of our guests inquired about the catering company. I can honestly tell you that the food portions were just right and so flavorful. The setup guy was on time and did a great job laying out the spread with sauce and condiments. They provided coffee cups with lids and to-go boxes. I highly recommend Honest Foods. We'll be back! Thank you. read more

My wife hired Honest Foods to cater my 40th Birthday Party...I was extremely nervous because we always cook for our parties and I had no idea what we were getting. My wife had there food while working on a job and said it was really good. Everything looked great and the guests really enjoyed the food. I was so worried that we were not going to have enough for everyone but it all worked out. We even had leftovers for ourselves for a couple of days. High on my list was the Fillet Mignon sandwiches...the meat was cooked a perfect medium rare and just melted on the bun. The spicy shrimp was also really good too. I was impressed with the chicken skewer. The chicken was actually juicy...everytime I have ever had chicken on a stick it is always dried out. There was also amazing peanut sauce on the side to dip the chicken into. I was so sad because the caterer did not leave us any of the peanut sauce. I felt like Larry David...I could see the caterer enjoying it the next day with his family. We also got the spinach dip. I am usually not a big fan but it was really good. In fact, they make fresh pita chips to dip in the spinach dip...I think those chips were the really winner. The fruit platter, cheese platter and anti pasta platter all looked amazing. Great colors but people seemed to stay away from them...not sure why. The Peanut Butter Cake that they made for my birthday was incredible. It was one of the best cakes we ever had and everyone at the party agreed. In fact, someone cut a piece out of the cake before the candles were lit and people started singing Happy Birthday to me. That is going to be my year now...a piece just missing! Scott, the chef, that came from Honest Foods was amazing too. He was very helpful. Making sure that the table looked nice and that garbage was picked up. So glad we had him to help serve the food to our guests. Only thing I did not like. They kept pushing the fingerling potatoes with blue cheese and green olives on us. I kept telling my wife no that they did not sound good. They kept insisting that they were a favorite of everyone. Nobody at the party ate them. In fact, we came home with a giant try of them. I was so sad because we could have had something else. We even tried to doctor up the potatoes at home...I tried making a mashed potatoes out of them and they just came out terrible. I just wish my wife would have listen to me on this one instead of the caterer. Do not let them talk you into them!!! read more

Every good thing you read about Honest Foods is true. What an amazing, professional and delicious company. And their attention to detail floored us! For example, we had spider mum flowers incorporated onto our wedding cake, and at the reception we noticed on the passed hors d'oeuvre trays there was a spider mum in the middle! This wasn't pre planned... Krysti and her team went above and beyond with little touches such as this. Our reception was 2 weeks ago. We found Honest Foods here on yelp. After meeting with Krysti, we knew instantly that we wanted to use them to cater our reception. She helped us every step of the planning, and consistently put us at ease with her confidence and assurance. And the quality of the food is the icing on the wedding cake!! Our guests raved all night about how good the food was. We had 4 passed hors d'oeuvres, which were incredible. Then we had a dinner buffet of the assorted grilled kabobs. Honest Foods was very accommodating in putting our menu together from the beginning. We wanted a mix that provided options for our very diverse group of guests that included meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. Honest Foods exceeded in meeting our challenge!! Even the hors d'oeuvres had something for everybody. Also, the tasting is a fun event!! Krysti brought the food directly to our home, and we invited a few friends and family over to join us. It turned into a lovely catered dinner party :) Although everything was delicious, we had a few minor changes... and Krysti worked with the chef so that our requests were met perfectly. In fact, as my wife and I were getting our dinner at the reception, one of the staff members standing there commented on an alteration we suggested for one of the salads, stating that it was a great idea and they will make it like that from now on!! I mention this because it is easy to feel like a "bridezilla," but Krysti and her team is such an accommodating and open-minded bunch. Do yourself a favor: hire Honest Foods for your event. It is worth every penny!! read more

Oh my GOD! Honest Foods, where have you been???? We used them to cater our wedding reception in 2001 and we still to this day get raves about how amazing the food was. They used to be located in Pilsen, and, I've been trying to find them ever since. Tad, the owner and chef is truly amazing, and I don't know if she's still there, but, his partner Dusti was wonderful to work with. I always wished they had a web site. If you ever need a caterer for any event, you have to give them a try. Their food is delicious and their prices are more than reasonable. I'm so glad I found them! read more

So, our wedding was last weekend. When people told me how much fun they had, the first thing they mention is the food. "Your food was SOOOO GOOD. The sauces. The dips. These people are amazing!" Honest Foods did a fucking bang up job. They set up the venue for us and put out one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I wish I could have eaten more, however, I was laced so tightly into my dress that anymore delicious kabob would have made me explode! Anyway, Honest, you guys are incredible and everyone loved you. Seriously. read more

We booked Honest Foods Catering for an in office company lunch, End of Summer - BBQed themed, on 9/16 for about 130 guests. Every single person had nothing but great things to say about the food. So much of the staff said that their staff was so courteous and helpful and pleasant that it made the experience all the better. read more

How do I even begin to explain how awesome Krysti is??! Honest Foods was recommended to us, among others, by our venue - Loft on Lake. I inquired about menu options and prices with several different groups and Krysti/Honest Foods was by far the most accommodating and had a wonderful selection of foods. Krysti was always so responsive and helped with any and all questions we had. She also met with my mother, my partner and I to go over the menu and was extremely patient and understanding with my mother's questions and concerns. And the food?...outstanding. My wedding was in October 2012 with 160 guests and we STILL have people talking about how good the food was. Krysti also coordinated with our Florist, Decorator, Alcohol (Binny's) and Venue (Loft on Lake) seamlessly! Her 'day-of' and 'during' coordination were more than I could have hoped for - everything was perfect. Krysti and Honest Foods - thank you for going above and beyond. Everything was wonderful! read more

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! Using Krysti & the team at Honest Foods was hands down the best decision we made for our wedding. Krysti was with us from the tasting to cleanup the day of our wedding. We wanted to do a fun, Chicago themed menu for our wedding and Krysti & the team put together a winner- Chicago dogs, italian beef, an amazing chop salad, mac n' cheese, potato wedges (not to mention apps of mini deep dish pizzas, chicken wings, & italian sausage kabobs!). Our guest are still talking about how fun and delicious the food was and thought that it was so fun that the team was cooking out of their food truck which was parked in the venue garage! We decided to pay the extra fee to have Krysti act as our day-of coordinator and I think it is the best decision that we could have made. She was so easy to get a hold of and helped me with every aspect that I needed without being overbearing. She was always available when I needed her for questions, opinions, or reassurance and handled all of the day-of details with the other vendors so that I didn't have to worry about it. Overall, for the price & quality, I would highly recommend Honest Foods for your wedding catering needs. It was an easy, fun, affordable experience & outstanding food to boot! Thanks Honest Foods! read more

Jen is a rockstar, the staff is under the radar and on point, and the food is delish. The staff buzzes around in the background while Jen (so professional and poised) stands and busts balls with her clipboard/folded coordinating other vendors and everything else, while the guests enjoy top notch food and a smooth wedding. We've gotten so many compliments on the food. Our bar was running short on byo booze, so Jen ran out herself to make sure we stayed covered. Honest goes above and beyond from the moment you meet Jen and she starts designing your menu and rentals to the final item packed up for you at the end of the night. read more

My place of employment has many catered meetings, most I am not invited to. Fine by me, as long as I get to eat the leftovers- especially when they come from Honest Foods! We picked Honest Foods to cater our holiday party with about 40 people. This was the first time we've ever hired a caterer for this type of thing so we had no idea what to expect. From start to finish Honest Foods did an excellent job. They had very helpful advice on what and how much to order. On the day of the event they arrived early, had everything well organized and were able to answer all our questions about the setup. Everyone left the party raving about the food. I'm enjoying the leftovers as I write this, it's all very, very good. Would use Honest Foods again and absolutely recommend them to others. read more

Honest Foods catered my nephew's 1st birthday which was Take Me Out to the Ball Game Theme. The food was AMAZING. What a fantastic catering company! My wedding was one week ago and we chose Honest Foods to cater. Krysti was amazing to work with! Extremely detailed and she got the job done! She was there every step of the way...from our initial meeting, to providing us a sample of the food, to the planning of the reception, to working the reception to make sure all ran smoothly! And, the food...that is all our guests are commenting on...how amazing the food was! We had a few different passed apps as well as food stations for our dinner. We had a carving station that was beef and pork, a made to order pasta station and a seafood station! The presentation was perfect and the food was more than amazing! I would definitely recommend Krysti and Honest Foods for any event. Such a great company to work with. Thank you, Honest Foods, for making my wedding a complete success!! read more

These are the guys who were on the TV show the Profit. We hired them to cater our company's 20 year anniversary party for about 50 people and everything turned out fantastic. The food was amazing...wonderful filet, super tasty crab cakes, mushroom stuff mushrooms and my personal favorite, the seafood extravaganza. What a show stopper it is with the underlit clear tray that makes the crab and shrimp seem like they are floating on the ice. It wow'ed everyone! The staff were great and usually one step of ahead on everything. Whether is was collecting plates from guests or refilling an almost empty glass...they really anticipated everything. Professional, polite and so focused on the guests experience. These guys are really great. I have never used a better caterer. read more

Hiring Honest Foods for our wedding was the best decision ever. Krysti is a wonderful coordinator. She is so pleasant, nice, organized, and efficient. She is very responsive to any questions and is more than willing to help with anything. The night went off without a hitch thanks to her. Everything was set up perfectly, and she definitely has an eye for decorating! Our tables all looked awesome, better than I expected. Krysti and her team will set everything up for you and don't need any additional help. The food was also so delicious. Everyone raved about it! We had two passed appetizers, the bacon wrapped dates and the beef satay, which were a big hit. They also set aside some for the bridal party, which was very nice. The chicken was also uniformly good. All of our guests enjoyed their dinner immensely. The waiters and waitresses were never in the way, and they were so polite and fast! Best caterers ever! I would highly recommend them to anyone planning a wedding. Having Krysti there will make your night seamless and wonderful. You won't regret it. read more

I work on a lot of photography sets and Honest Foods is always the go to catering. The food is balanced and always good, but please change your coffee! Unfortunately it is nearly undrinkable. It smells awful, possibly dirty equipment? The type of coffee? But I hear complaints about it from crews on every set I work on. I wanted to be able to email the company about this because I think it could be easily fixed, but couldn't find an email address on the site. I hope you see this! read more

I had a great experience with Honest Foods. I had a small (about 60 people) Halloween party and had Honest cater it - a couple of trays of sandwiches, cheese, pasta salad, etc. Everything arrived ready to go and on time. Food was delicious and I felt very reasonable in price. Everyone was asking where it came from since it was obviously way better than average grocery store catering. During the ordering they were efficient, super polite and helpful. Called back to make sure everything was right. During delivery went through it with me to make sure it was all correct. I will definitely send my business their way for any more catering. read more

No other caterer can come close. I'm President of a large construction firm with several yards across Chicagoland. This week Krysti and the team served my big, burly, hungry truck drivers an unbelievable breakfast at 5:00 a.m. Hundreds of men in shifts from Monday to Friday. I recommend Honest Foods without reservation. They are unmatched. I'll just copy the email I sent Krysti earlier today: Krysti: Thanks for another outstanding breakfast for a bunch of Teamsters with less than 24 hours notice. My drivers are pretty critical. It takes 3 things to soothe the angry beasts when they're hungry: the food has to be 1) hot; 2) delicious & 3) plenty of it. Your whole team nailed it. My compliments to the Chef. We are in very similar businesses: selling both a product and a service to demanding customers in a very competitive market. I have nothing but admiration for what you do and the people you have working for you. I stood off in a corner and watched David set up the display this morning. What an outstanding employee. He evidenced pride, commitment to excellence, attention to detail and organization. We will be doing business together often. Feel free to use me as a referral for any big jobs you want to get and let me know what I can do for you in any social media. I'll be writing a rave review for you on Yelp. read more

Jen, her crew and chefs created a wonderful and memorable meal for our sons wedding rehearsal dinner for 70 people. Jen was communicative, collaborative and a joy to work with. My son requested BBQ and Jen and her chefs were adaptable and used my rub and sauce recipe. The food received rave reviews from all that attended and the crew that came to set up were on time, friendly and very helpful! I will confess, we found Honest Foods on Yelp and after speaking several times with Jen, we booked them without even tasting the food. The reviews were glowing and her energy so positive that we felt comfortable trusting them. We were not disappointed! We will use them again and have been recommending them to everyone we speak to. Thanks Jen! read more

A dear friend used Honest Foods for a milestone event - we found them on Yelp, noticed the great reviews, and she decided to use them based on the reviews, menus, and reasonable prices. YUM! That's all I can say. Everything I tried was delicious, and fresh. I wish I had eaten more... sigh... She chose mostly sandwiches and hor d'oeurves (sp?), so not a sit-down dinner, but a lot of us were able to make dinner out of it (and believe me we needed some carbs to soak up the alcohol), and there was plenty of food for all. I highly recommend this caterer! Next time we have a large party, we're going with Honest Foods. read more

Honest Foods did an amazing job catering our wedding. We were so impressed with everything-- the bacon-wrapped dates were amazing, our entrees were perfect, and our desserts were amazing. A major highlight was when we returned from our honeymoon and found out that they had wrapped up each of our desserts in a box for us to take home. As the bride, I didn't have time to eat any of our desserts, which I was really disappointed about because everyone raved about them. My mom had kept them in the freezer for a week for us and they were STILL phenomenal. I can't imagine how good they must have been the day of the wedding. Like everyone else on Yelp, I have to mention Krysti. She is amazing. I don't know how she manages to get everything to run so smoothly, or to keep her composure in the chaos, but she does. I planned the wedding from California and never hired an event coordinator or a wedding planner because I had Krysti. She knew what to do about everything and was never pushy with her suggestions. Honest Foods provides amazing food and Krysti provides an amazing wedding experience. read more

With 25+ kids and 20+ adults, we used Honest Foods to cater our 1 year olds b-day bash. Besides the 90+F heat that day, the food was the talk of the party. Leftovers were gladly taken by all and enjoyed by the family for two nights after the party. Their wraps were stellar with spicy chipolte sauce. We also ordered their potato and pasta salad. The pasta salad had lots of great veggies and their potato salad had a great kick to it with parmesan cheese. Your food will be the hit of the party. read more

We hired Honest Foods to cater our wedding reception, which was held on 6-1-13 at Loft on Lake in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. We were so, so happy with Honest Foods, and really can't say enough good things about our experience working with Krysti. She was extremely responsive, flexible and easy to work with throughout the entire planning process. She took care of literally every detail for us, including all the rentals and bar service coordination, and the execution on the day-of was flawless. Most importantly, the quality of the food was excellent. Their ability to prep and serve everything on-site made a huge different in the quality and freshness, and we got many, many compliments on our menu. Honest foods catered our wedding dinner. Kristi was very helpful in planning a menu just right for our situation and crowd. We had many Muslims and luckily Honest Foods has a Muslim chef who assisted in making items Zabihah Halal! It was so nice to have halal food catered that was not the typical Pakistani food (which we were eating the next night) We were only 75 and wanted drop off. She helped me pick ideal items. The food is simple but fresh and delicious. Everyone loved the asparagus and BBQ tofu (although I prefer it more crunchy). The price was decent for the service and freshness of the food. I highly, highly recommend Honest Foods for any corporate event. They catered a 100-guest open house for us with passed appetizers and desserts. Jen was a dream to work with - from start to finish she was extremely professional, easy to communicate with and worked within our budget to create a party that wowed. The staff was incredible - always attentive but never in the way. And the food was, by far, the most impressive part of the party. I had dozens of guests ask who catered the event and paid high compliments to the variety and quality of the apps. I was only sorry I didn't save more room for dessert. As said in the other reviews, top quality food, wonderful selection, great comments from everyone at the event. However, what I really want to single out is the service. Our business has used many caterers and I personally have worked with many caterers, but I have yet to see anyone as friendly, hardworking, outgoing, well-organized and top of everything as Krysti. Plus, Krysti truly engages with the customers and goes out of the way to make sure everyone is taken care of. She is the best and makes Honest Foods stand out from the pack! read more

This is a hidden gem in the Chicago catering scene!! I used them to do our wedding (at Prairie Production) and working with Krysti could not have been easier! No matter how neurotic I got during the process, she was always there with a smile and great suggestions. My husband and I had a slightly bizarre request... we wanted to give our wedding guests a "taste of Chicago" since so many were from out of town. We wanted ALL the "traditional" Chicago foods... deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago dogs, etc. Krysti and the folks at Honest Foods knocked it out of the park--and at my tiny budget!! When I first started the wedding planning process, I was shocked at how expensive catering in Chicago was... calling caterers across town, most wouldn't even explore talking to us when I said we didn't want to spend more than $75/head (which, in my mind, is A LOT!!!) Krysti, however, worked with us and helped us create an amazing experience while staying as near to the budget as possible. Thank you Krysti! I want to get married all over again just to hire Honest Foods again!!! :):):) read more
