Stopped here after skiing. Started with Squash soup, onion dip,corn bread and the crab Mac and cheese. For the main courses we had pulled pork,fried chicken,chicken and waffles. The chicken was dry and the spicy was our favorite. The ribs were just ok and very sweet. The kids enjoyed their chicken and waffles My wife didn't like her pulled pork. Stopped in for an early dinner during happy hour and grabbed a couple seats at the bar. The lady that helped us seemed to either be the owner or manager because she was extremely knowledgeable and inviting. We started with a couple drinks and an appetizer from the happy hour menu. She was nice enough to let us order a second round before happy hour ended but waited until we finished our first drinks to make them. The fried green tomatoes were absolutely delicious and probably some of the best I've ever had. She said they pickle the tomatoes before they fry them. For dinner, I had the gumbo with a side of mac and cheese. It was fantastic and the perfect portion size. My colleague had the ribs with sides of a biscuit, coleslaw, and brussel sprouts. I was able to take a few bites and it was all great. We didn't have a single complaint throughout our meal. Overall, cute restaurant right off the main road from Aspen to Glenwood Springs. Plenty of parking, small clean dining area, and a beautiful small bar with a TV. We will definitely be back! read more

This is the new country restaurant that opened in the former space occupied by the long standing Italian restaurant in El Jabel. We had early dinner and happy hour there on Sunday afternoon. We started with fried green tomatoes and pork rinds both with wonderful dipping sauces. Happy hour prices are a few less than the regular menu. Also limited happy hour drinks are are all $7.00. We followed with 4 piece fried chicken. All our selections were over the top delicious. Service was quick and our server was helpful. This should be five stars all the way and a great addition to the El Jabel neighborhood. read more

We did an Apres Ski and were excited to try something different. When first arriving, the Host did not make us feel welcomed and the waiter seemed hurried. As the hour and a half passed, we noticed that our waiter became more fluid with a better energy. We deduced that it was all due to staff change from 4ish onward. I moved out to Aspen about 10 years ago. I lived in raspen for 9 and then we moved to Snowmass and actually bought a place!! I am so grateful for that because if we hadn't, we would be homeless. Anyways, I originally moved from Atlanta, where we had some FANTASTIC food on every corner! I mean, you could walk into a gas station and have some of the best 1 Meat and 2 Sides, ever!! Well, this reminds me of those places, but even better! They give you GREAT proportions, the owner is always there because they work hard and it shows!! The appetizer are great! We liked the jalapeño corn bread better than the other original ones. The pork grind though are sizzling and delicious! Also the watermelon shrimp salad is amazing! Meatloaf was a hit and if you like grits it is very filling and fresh. Mac and cheese and mash potatoes are also a great side. Catfish was ok just not thick as catfish should be thought it was the trout when it came out. Fried chicken is ok, you get bone in and boneless. The says is great. Desert the key lime pie and peach cobbler is great, but the bourbon and coconut gelato is the best! Didn't really care for the bourbon desert with mint. Now if you are a bourbon whiskey drinker. They have many different types of whiskey there. Our favorite is the knob creek single barrel. Make sure it's the single barrel or it wont taste the same. It's the top shelf whiskey! The staff is great and the owner/manager will stop by and see how is everything. read more

We have tried this place twice. The food misses the Southern Mark. Such a shame. We need some good Southern food in this valley. The acoustics and the lighting need work as well. Service was better than the first time we went. We will return when the fried chicken has more seasoning and isn't tough. Or the fried green tomatoes aren't as hard as hocky pucks. read more

This was my 2nd visit, this time with my fiancé. Once again, most everything was good. To start, our server, I think "Anna" ... she was a delight, nice and helpful - just a fun server that made the experience a joy. Nice man was our server too - a lot of fun as well. Quick rundown on the food ... we had some good and ok, some great. Margarita - good, but would go classic vs the house menu version - too heavy and overdone. Specialty drink, "I wash it was summer", we were mixed, I liked it, fiancé was just so-so on it. Wood fired oysters - excellent!!! Simple and tasty - fresh tasting and yummy! Gumbo was just ok, 2 great big shrimp which were nice, but a LOT of rice and not much roux - I'd prefer more roux, less rice - was just heavy - heavy, and some "slices" of sausage would be delish. Flavor ok though - but too hearty (not much roux a LOT of rice) than a traditional gumbo. Nice tidbits of crawfish though. Little Gem Caesar - I'd take a pass, seems they tried to "southern up" a Caesar, for both of us - just didn't work. Maybe a good southern salad, fresh, mixed, creative would work? Home-made vinaigrette? Collard Greens - pretty much perfect in every way. Nice touches of pork, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Spare Ribs - nice flavor and they were gigantic - and a lot of them for a 1/2 order. But - being "spare ribs", some parts tender - some parts chewy, some parts pretty fatty - a mess and hard to eat at a restaurant - you'll need a shower after (Anna gave us wet wipes)!!! Bless you!!! We both would have preferred a "back rib", aka baby back as that is the most tender, lean, best quality, and tastiest of all the pork ribs - these had a nice flavor - tiny sweet, tiny hot, but we'd prefer them sauced and fall off the bone lean, tender, and tasty. White cheddar grits - not too tasty or flavorful. Southern Slaw - same, no flavor, a little soggy. Would like some fresh crispy sparkling flavor in the slaw - was just plain. Key Lime pie - house made and just right, gobbled it up, could have eaten two!!! Summary - some good and "ok", and some great - I might kick it up/mix it up - I love having some of our Southern People in the valley - fun and cute spot - pretty good stuff - *not sure the owner claims their YELP ownership - I hope they do one day - great to have this local place - sone good feedback could help it go "good to GREAT"! read more

My wife and I loved this little restaurant! Our pecan crusted trout and crawfish mac & cheese were out of this world. So was the heirloom tomato and ricotta salad. This place has truly creative cuisine, and the prices are extremely reasonable for the Roaring Fork Valley. Hominy is the new star among our favorite local restaurants. read more

Amazing food and incredible service start to finish! We throughly enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes to start. We both chose the special which was short rib and it was beyond delicious. Chicken was SO salty my tongue was burning and I was up all night drinking water. Apparently it is brined, which if done correctly should not make the meat this salty. When I mentioned it to our server, he brought the manager over who said they thought it was just fine. Such humility. read more
