I was at Hometown Pizza a little over a week ago and it was around 7:30 pm. I was playing the Oregon lottery. The owner was not there or any of the other nice workers that I knew from before. This young blonde haired girl was there that I have never seen before. It was 7:50 and they would be closing at eight. The girl walked into the slot machine area and commanded that I leave immediately! I said I just have $8.00 left and would hurry. She started yelling at me to get out now! I could hardly believe her rude behavior and I have never been treated so rudely by any other business owner! In fact I usually stay while the other pizza place vacuums! She Made me feel so horrible and her behavior was unnecessary. Because I didn't jump when she said she came in and made me cash out $8.00! She was trying to tell me it was against the law and all this other garbage. What she didn't realize is when I win I tip those kids at least $20. I will never go in there again thanks to the rude blonde girl! That's ok because the other pizza place has better food and the people that work there are very kind. I grew up in Rainier, I've had this pizza a million times. It used to be AMAZING. But the dough now tastes like gooey? There's like almost no red sauce. Like 3 inches of cheese, and the cheese was dripping in grease. It used to be my favorite pizza place of all time. But I probably won't return. We got a medium half pepperoni, and half "spicy spicy" But we received the sweet and spicy. Not a big deal but the waiter had to "check with his manager" before giving us some jalapeños. It's not that deep just grab some jalapeños. The lady who first took our order apparently doesn't know what a smile is. Or what customer service is at all, just blank faced and said "ok, ok ok" If it's that hard to work in customer service then don't. The waitress and waiter just kinda sucked. A man called and ordered a few pizzas over the phone and requested the pizzas not to be cooked yet, but when he showed up to pick them up they were already cooked... A couple at the booth next to us ordered two pizzas and only got served one so the man also had to go up and ask where his other pizza was. They were just messing up everyone's orders. Awful service. Our table wasn't cleaned prior to sitting down. This place has really went downhill. Didn't wanna write this but if anyone new is thinking of trying hometown pizza, don't. This used to be our go-to place for pizza. We would drive for 40-45 mins just for their pizza. It has gone so downhill. The first time the pizza was bad, we gave it a pass. Everyone has a bad night. The second time it was bad, we said eh, maybe a new cook. The third time we went it was horrible! Swore we wouldn't go back. But we did. And this time, the fourth time, it was epic bad. They rearranged the tables to accommodate for our larger party and asked if we needed anything. The food was brought out to us quickly and piping hot, tasting amazing to everyone! sent me a burnt pizza through delivery... called to let them know it was burnt and was told not to come back in their restaurant ever again. well, for one thing this was a delivery and i wasn't in your restaurant. i have no desire to eat your pizza again or visit your restaurant in the future. your pizza isn't that good even when it's not burnt. there was always nats flying around the salad bar when i did visit your restaurant, which is gross. the tables were always dirty and their condiments were always empty. the store is just dirty in general... get yourself some better employees that offer good customer service. i certainly do not recommend hometown pizza when there is decent pizza across the bridge... unfortunately, deserving of zero stars :( read more

This place has really good food. It's a comfortable, casual restaurant. My bf and I come here when we crave pizza. It's more spendy then dominos or little johns but it is worth it. The only reason I give it 4/5 instead of 5/5 stars is because our last trip there they over charged me $13.00 and realized after they charged my card. They immediately took care of it by giving me $13 in change. It wasn't a big deal. But then they brought out our pizza we realized instead of the bbq chicken pizza we ordered they gave us a chicken bacon pizza. It was still delicious and they have never had errors like this before. Normally I enjoy their pizza. But the last time I ordered from them for delivery, my pizzas were left outside of my house with no notice or knock at my door. We were wondering why they were so late and my husband went outside to take garbage out and they were sitting in our porch. They were very cold. I don't know if the driver was afraid to knock on our door, but after paying $100 dollars for two pizzas and some bread sticks, I was extremely disappointed and upset. Got my typical pizza here and they sure loaded it with toppings, not to mention sauce. The flavor wasn't quite what I'm used to but was packed full, even with the added note of garlic flavor on the crust (oil or butter?). The people at the counter were also amazing. Got my pizza to go so didn't have much other interaction, yet was quite pleased with the whole ordering process. One minor thing was that while the pizza is yummy, it wasn't piping hot, not that I like burning myself, but still noticeable. called in today to get an order for delivery which I have done many times prior. I normally get the same thing each time with slight variations (as most people tend to do). Today the lady I spoke with (sounded new) told me that the custom calzone I always order is "not a thing" & that she could not make one, but rather order one that comes with way more than I'm asking for (and pay more for it) then remove the toppings I don't want....... I go into Hometown very often to get their cheesy bread sticks because they are GREAT! However this evening I ordered some and they were sitting on the table in the game room as I finished playing and someone walked out the door with them before I even opened the box! The staff refused to do anything about it! I'm so grossed out at the nerve of it and the "OH WELL" attitude of the staff! I will not be going there anymore! I guess if you go there bring your own security to watch your food because it will not be replaced that goes for anything else I would imagine as they don't care as long as they get paid! This was a small pizza joint across the Columbia River from Longview, Washington. My mom and I decided it was only a hop, skip, and a jump away so we gave it a try. The cheesy bread was pretty good. The pizzas came out looking very good. The Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza was very tasty and the veggie pizza was pretty good. I felt like the veggie pizza was missing something. No, not all pizzas need meat, but this one needed something else. The overall appearance of the restaurant was cute, clean, and the staff were moderately friendly and helpful. We stopped in here on an afternoon adventure drive and I'm definitely sure glad we did! The salad bar is LEGIT - a ton of options and I filled up on my one time through that I could barely eat 1 slice of the pizza we ordered. The pizza was really good, there's something about the crust that just kind of melts in your mouth; not sure how to explain it. You can taste the garlic in the pizza, and it's just delicious. Toppings on the pizza were also plentiful, which can make all the difference. Prices were definitely reasonable (cheaper even) when compared to what I pay for pizza at some of my other favorite spots around where I live. So good!!! read more

What happened??? Your pizza use to be very good. I Ordered a pizza delivered Friday night. Met the driver and took the pizza home. First and only piece, the pizza dough was not cooked all the way, raw in the middle and the flavor was definitely not your usual. I called and told the female who answered the phone of the situation, the pizza dough was raw in the middle and flavors weren't there. The pizza was a pepperoni and pineapple. After I told her about the pizza her reply was "ah, ok?" There was a moment of silence. I felt her reply was, it was no big deal and the moment of silence verified her reply. She then told me she would tell the manager and they would call me back. It is Saturday now and no call back. This is not setting well with me and I feel I will not be doing any more business with this establishment. read more

My review is neutral so I will break it down for you. The positives - The pizza is delicious. The crust is garlicky and buttery deliciousness that make me want to eat it all the time, but because of the negative I will only ever do pick up or delivery. The negatives - If you order a one-time salad be expected to be WATCHED LIKE HAWK. My husband ordered a one-time salad bar and I took 1 bite from his plate, again this WAS NOT an ALL YOU CAN EAT salad bar, and the person behind the counter was shooting dirty looks over 1 freaking bite. Okay so it's been a month, we just went tonight got the same pizza and it was awful. Dry, cold and short on toppings. Tasted like someone's day old pizza. We called and complained. They apologized. I have had many pizza's in my life but I have to say this was by far the BEST pizza i have ever had. The cheese pulls apart beautifully and is slightly caramelized, not to mention incredibly delicious. Vegetables are fresh tasting and bursting with flavor on the pizza, or even in a salad. And the crust, oh my, perfect. Everything about the pizza was perfect, perfect ratio of cheese and sauce and crust just right. Cooked to utter perfection! Just the sauce itself was incredible! Not to mention the exceptional customer service and a friendly atmosphere. Ok now I'm almost done, the restaurant itself was very tidy and booths and seats were incredibly comfortable. We were returning home from Astoria and had read about this place right here on Yelp. The five star rating proved to be quite accurate as everyone in the family loved this pizza and finished it off in record time. They were in fact eating it in the car before we got home! We called the order in when we reached Clatskanie- a large sausage and pepperoni combo. As you can see in the pics these pizzas are handmade with care. The crust is simply the best- you could eat that part of it just by itself. The tangy sauce, meat, and cheese made for a pizza several notches above anything else you could get in our area.
