I purchased a Rav4 from this location on 04/05/2024. I was told by my sales rep multiple times that…read morethere were no accidents on this vehicle, which had me sold. After purchasing the vehicle, I began to notice a raddle and shaking when I first turned it on after being idle, which I did not hear or feel during the test drive. I scheduled an appointment with the nearest CarMax with the earliest service appointment which was 05/02/2024 (it was a week earlier than that but my original appointment was canceled by CarMax due to shop issues). After looking at the vehicle and having to explain the raddle and shake I was experiencing to a tech, I was told the raddle was coming from the roof rack and glove compartment both being loose. The roof rack was tightened and I was told there was nothing that could be done about the glove box. I was scheduled for another appointment on 05/10/2024 to change the right engine mount and was told the vehicle would be good to go after that. I got to that appointment and let them know I still heard the raddling. I was told it probably was due to the engine mount needing to be replaced which would resolve the shake and raddle. Now this is my 2nd CarMax vehicle and my family's 4th so I was trusting them. After driving the vehicle and having no peace with the raddle, I decided to get it inspected by Toyota on 06/21/2024, in hopes that they would be able to fix the glove box or whatever was causing the raddle. After the inspection, BOTH the customer care rep AND the tech who completed the inspection said "You need to take this vehicle back to CarMax NOW!" I was shown a vehicle report detailing the extensive amount of parts ordered from Toyota to repair the vehicle after a MAJOR COLLISION in 2022!!! Not only that, but the repairs were done incorrectly and the undercarriage is loose, among other things. I was told that if someone were to hit me from the back, everything would cave to the front! Remember, CarMax stated there were no accidents on this vehicle. They instructed me to take the vehicle back to CarMax immediately because it was unsafe to drive. Both the rep and tech were so concerned for me that they both gave me their numbers and told me they were willing to speak to CarMax for me. Toyota could not even make the repairs; it has to go to a body shop. I immediately called this location (Winterville, NC) to report the matter. I told them I was willing to swap this vehicle out for one at the same price because I WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO ACCIDENTS ON THIS VEHICLE and Toyota is telling me I need to take it back due to safety risks. The lady told me she would have to speak to her GM who was at lunch. I later spoke with the service manager who apologized and stated when I came in they could not see an accident on the vehicle but now could see the accident on the report (I later thought about it, how could you not see it then but can see it now). Hours later and after speaking with three other individuals, a fourth person calls me but not the GM. He informed me that the GM stated I could take the vehicle to CarMax to see if they could repair it and if not, they will send it to a body shop. I told them I took it to CarMax twice, the vehicle was not safe and I wanted to swap it out. He gets off the phone to tell her (GM) what I said, this happened multiple times. The GM NEVER got on the phone! Not one time did she get on the phone to apologize, express concern, or acknowledge how they put me in an unsafe vehicle. She just kept relaying messages back and forth. She stated that I had already driven the car for 3,000 miles (which it has not been 3,000 miles) and that I could not swap the car out. Not considering the fact, that I was lied to, not considering the fact of the safety risk, not considering I went to CarMax multiple times trying to figure out what was going on or that I would have never purchased the vehicle if this information had been withheld from me. But the fact that the GM NEVER got on the phone and kept going back and forth with me via another person really added insult to injury! Toyota told me it is against the law for dealers to withhold accident information. Sad part is, the earliest appointment I can get with CarMax to have them LOOK at the vehicle is July 10th. This is a major lesson learned but it is not over.

This company is very shady. We went to look at a car after talking with a rep about a car the day…read morebefore and the day of. When we arrived to look at the car, the car was suddenly in the shop because of a water pump replacement. IDC what kind of mechanic you are you cannot do a full water pump replacement in under an hour, which is what they were saying. They told us to go to the waiting area to wait for the car to return. While in the waiting area another rep said he had taken a deposit on the same vehicle the night before. I took a half day off work to drive out there to see a car that was no longer available. Why couldn't the rep tell me that before I came out there.

So I went there and paid $130 for a complete detail. I had just bought the car . I take it on a Monday 10 am and pick it up like at 4 and vacuuming had not been done in the back at all and still had the crumbs in the seats AND the stain had not been touched . The only reason I'm giving two stars is because the manager was very kind and apologetic and told me to bring it back the following week . Ok great I take it back the following Monday , BACK WAS STILL NOT VACUUMED WHEN I PICKED IT UP And I thought that the stain was out because the seat was wet but the next day when it had dried up, the stain was still there in all it glory, it hadn't been touched at all. I didn't wanna deal with it at all anymore so I just left it like that .
