From the moment we walked into the Hostel I felt at home. Our hosts Eliza and Justin were welcoming and uber friendly throughout the stay. We stayed in the bunk house we had plenty of space, the mattress were super comfy. The bathroom was spacious, clean, modern, the soft TP (cause that's important) and had plenty of hot water... What more could a girl want! Eliza & Justin also provide free homemade granola, cereal, and coffee for guests before you hit the slopes (just minutes from the Okemo base lodge). Eliza and Justin have created exactly the kind of place in which I love to stay. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we were in a friend's well-appointed house. As a bonus, that friend happens to have a very nicely stocked bar downstairs. Justin showed us around and up to our room. After putting our bags down, went to the bar for a drink and I was impressed with how comfortable the place felt. While we were sitting enjoying a very nice beer and some Chartreuse, plates of food and desserts passed by that looked amazing. We didn't get to sample them, but I'll be sure to do so next time! In the communal kitchen, they offer complimentary homemade granola with Vermont yogurt and milk for breakfast, which was quite yummy. There is also drip coffee, and espresso drinks for a small fee. When we come back for a longer stay, it will be great to make use of the very nice kitchen to cook some meals. We stayed in the bunk style room which had plenty of space and super comfy mattresses and linens. The bathroom was immaculately cared for as was the rest of the hostel. They also have a heated mudroom so you can keep your skiing/riding gear out of the main building but still warm for the morning. Magnificent! Wonderful! Charming! Exquisite! Can I leave 10 stars please?! Absolute perfection! So. My heart is racing as I write this review because words become difficult when you enjoyed yourself this much! Eliza is such a warm and inviting person. The house is representative of this. I called the house early afternoon because other locals were gushing about this place and I wanted a guaranteed reservation. Eliza answered the phone and I could tell from the second she started talking that we were going to be in for a treat. They do not take reservations under 5 people. This is because of the layout of the dining area - completely understandable. Once you are there you realize how laid back it is. Eliza told me that there would be zero issue getting us in and seated. She was correct. We walked in at ten of eight on a Sunday. We were greeted like we were old friends that came to visit from out of town. Eliza was just loaded with class and charm. She was made to entertain and she balances everyone in the dining area very well. Eliza made amazing food and drink recommendations. We took her up on the Buckwheat Gnocchi - it was amazing - it was made with brussels sprouts, celery root and capers tossed in a delightful light sauce. We also had the capital onion rings, so good! I ordered the Trout which was just so delicate and flavorful. The taste took my breath away. I will never forget that fish. If you can have the whole trout when you go then for sure order that. I ordered a bourbon drink that was on the menu. I can't remember the name of it which I hate - but it was very good. I also had a Manhattan, which was made perfectly. We ended our meal with the sticky toffee pudding.. This is INSANE! You must try it! It comes in a hot croc and is topped with maple ice cream - I mean what else can I say?! I didn't really get to talk to Justin. He and Eliza are dating and Homestyle is their baby. He is very cute and when he came over with our drinks he was cool and funny and just shot really positive energy at us. The entire situation over at homestyle is it is simply enchanting. They are so chill and they have such a beautiful home. You literally feel like the place is giving you a gigantic hug. I've never felt so welcomed in my life. I've tried on several occasions to get a reservation in season without success. Had a lucky cancellation after a summer down pour 4th of July weekend. The place embodies lots that is great about modern dining: homemade inventive cocktails with fresh ingredients and high end craft liquor (fiery ginger was amazing); family style small and main plates that take you around the global and market local (Chinese five star calamari, BBQ brisket with fresh pickles and skillet cornbread; shrimp with black bean zucchini cakes). We waited 45 mins for a table of 3 on a Thurs night, but totally worth it. Drinks were good and fairly priced. Family was carbo loading and i was keto dieting, and homestyle did the job for both parties. Salad and wine were delicious. Steak was good but a bit too charred on end? this place exceeded our expectations! my boyfriend and I were guests #15 and wow, were we impressed. when we arrived, we decided to hang out in the cozy bar and partake in their excellent beer selection. The location was ideal, right in the center of town. we had a nice time wondering around Ludlow, enjoying local shops and groovy places to eat. another advantage? we were only a mile away from Okemo, and could have taken the shuttle bus if we wanted to. on Xmas eve we were the very first community dinner participants and I'm so glad we were! Eliza's cooking was delicious, and we really enjoyed the company of the inn keepers and their friend. our room was cozy, clean and very charming. we rested with great ease in the memory foam bed, with plump pillows and comforters. after a day on the slopes, we dug the hot tub by the river. we have plans to return, Homestyle Hostel was a homey home away from home indeed. read more

My girlfriend and I decided to have dinner and drinks here and we sat at the bar. The food and drinks were exceptional. After ordering dinner, bottle of wine and numerous drinks , we were asked if we could leave the bar cause other people came in and wanted to eat . I've stayed in quite a few hostels over the past few years and this one easily blows them all away. Justin and Eliza have done an amazing job designing the house and the rooms are comfortable and simple. The ambiance of the hostel is wonderful from the art on the walls to the beautiful floors, bar, and kitchen. The nicest quality about the place, however, is the comfortable atmosphere. They have really cultivated a genuine, friendly, and cozy experience without it coming off as contrived or trendy. Justin was hanging out on the porch when we drove up and gave us a great tour of the pace and by the time he was done I felt I was in my own home. We reserved a private room but in retrospect we probably would have been just as comfortable in any other room. The kitchen (available for the guests to use) is ridiculously gorgeous and clean. Plenty of space as well to play any of the games they have available as well. At dinner time we made the smartest decision ever to stay in and eat there. We started with cocktails made by Justin. The New Fangled was delicious and unlike anything I've had before. We really had no expectations for dinner but we were hungry so we ordered the chicken roasted with a marinade of boiled cider, orange juice, cardamom, and whatever else served over potatoes and an arugula salad. It was genuinely the best chicken I've eaten in years. Chef Jayde is a truly talented cook and it's worth a trip to Vermont just to taste his work. This cannot be overstated. Also, he sources as many of his ingredients as possible locally. All in all this place scores a perfect ten. Good people doing good work in a good place. Can't ask for more than that. This is as good as hostels can be: not just lodging but a place to meet nice people. We've made friends here. The house is beautiful, newly redecorated, really tidy, with all utensils we needed in the kitchen. Me and my family slept well in bunk bed room as well as in dorm beds. This place is superb. The hostess is lovely, and gracious, and you feel that you are truly taken care of from the moment you arrive. We had the same server (Shannon) both times we came in. She not only remembered who we were, but also what we had ordered, and appeared to be the only person on waitstaff. This gal is a real pro, and makes her work look easy and enjoyable (which anyone who has ever waited tables can tell you-- that is a talent!) She was just terrific, we are looking forward to seeing her again! The food is exceptional, and on a level that belongs way outside Ludlow, VT. We are so lucky to have this place, and my only hesitation writing this review is that it will get too crowded someday to eat there. The menu is creative, inventive, and well executed. Fine dining without being pretentious. The mixologist on staff is a magician... and that is all I have to say about that. If I had to change only 1 thing about this place it would be that it's just a wee bit small. the quarters are a bit stuffy, but they do do a fine job making the seating as comfortable as possible. This hostile is definitely very homey, clean, and you get a free breakfast! All of the staff is very nice and extremely helpful. The only downfall was the other people staying here. They were extremely loud at all hours of the night with no consideration for anyone else staying there. Maybe putting a quiet hour in place would help. The highest priced itwm on the menu wasn;t higher than maybe $ 22. The menu is small but from what we had, ample,, Staying with the cost, two for a small dinner and one drink and one desert was about $ 60 pls tip. Re the restaurant is in an old country home on the main street, The place has been nicely refurbished and i think a lot of money went into it,, its comfortable if a bit noisy,, As for the food,, you can see from the website that the options are limited. We had Clams in tasty broth, and a Polenta, which my wife said was the best vegetarian dish she ever had. This place is a home away from home. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and welcoming during my entire stay. The hostel is conveniently a 2 minute drive to Okemo and 30 minutes from Killington. Delicious, creative!. Ambience is fresh, clean, wooden comfort. Wraparound porch to enjoy drinks, conversation. if we didnt have a residence in town, we would have tried an overnite stay. Kudos on their great, honest website. REALLY a major plus to experience for any season in Ludlow (we tried it in August (2015). One of the best restaurant experiences I've had in Ludlow, VT! I came here with my dad and we were both blown away. We shared 3 dishes; Bacon grilled cheese bites, sherry mushrooms and Gnocchi. Not only was the food delicious, the service was fantastic. Eliza (owner) whipped up some great cocktails and provided great conversation throughout the night. 5 stars all around.
