Looking for a quick romantic getaway in New Hampshire and to experience snowshoeing? We found…read moreDexters listed as the best in town for snowshoeing and it did not disappoint. Upon arrival, the Inn keeper was warm, friendly and knowledgeable and was quick to provide us with snow shoes and poles. The trails on the property range from easy ( just my pace) to advanced ... and yes there is a black diamond trail for those of you who know how to handle it!! The equipment was well kept and the property was well maintained. Beyond the absolutely wonderful snowshoeing experience, was the Inn. We visited in mid-March and this was the coziest, warm and welcoming Inn we had experienced in a while. They have quite a few amenities including and outdoor fireplace and hot tub! They have a warm and inviting common room with tables, fireplace, community refrigerator and glasses for any of your beverages you may bring ( they are BYOB). The rooms are cozy and inviting - we were in a recently upgraded decorated room with modern designs, textures and colors. Our room had big beautiful windows that spilled delightful sunshine into every nook and corner. Honestly I could have stayed in the room all day if it weren't for the adventures waiting outside. The bed was like a big warm hug that I simply did not want to get out of in the morning! The breakfast starts at 7am and is served buffet style. It's is a wonderful diverse selection of home cooked items such as pancakes, eggs, breakfast meat, and delicious fresh fruit. The coffee is A+ which is always a must in my book. The cost of our stay did not break our bank and we definitely will be back!

The opportunity to celebrate with family and friends while staying together at the Inn made the weekend unforgettable. Innkeepers Maria and Paul, along with General Manager Beth, and all the staff went above and beyond our expectations. They truly make their guests feel like family. From start to finish, their kindness, professionalism and attention to detail made everything effortless and perfect. There is simply no venue out there that compares to Dexter's Inn. They helped us create memories that we will cherish for a lifetime and for that we are forever grateful.

The only complaints I have are the pillows. I think they're made out of memory foam?? Really stiff memory foam?? Like another user said: bring your own pillow. There were cotton pillows in the closet, but I like feathered more. I just used the blanket at the end of the bed as a pillow instead. Works well. The bed is stiff, but then again, I do like soft surfaces more. However, it's not impossible to sleep on because I am more adjusting towards different surfaces. I could sleep on the floor and I'd still be comfortable. Lol In the future, change your pillows. I know it may be a cheaper option or maybe it's "proven" to work better than cotton or feathered, but put some money into more expensive pillows. Food is decent, staff is nice. 7/10-Would go here again if the pillows were better...or I could always bring my own, too.

We had a two bedroom suite and only way to cool second bedroom was to use a fan to blow air in from main room. T.V. reception was poor. The room was tired in need of repairs. Smoke Detector in main bedroom had duct tape holding it together. If you needed extra toilet paper you had to go to desk, which seemed everyone did. Need clean towels, you go to front desk. Would not recommend this hotel.

We were traveling with our two children and chose the inn because it appeared to be a traditional New England property in a convenient location. Condition of the Property: The building and interiors appear not to have been updated in decades. Much of the furniture, fixtures, and decor looked extremely worn and outdated. Rather than feeling historic or charming, the property felt neglected. Cleanliness: Several areas of the inn appeared poorly maintained and not particularly clean, which made it difficult to relax in the room or common areas. Management Interaction: Our interaction with the manager, Stan, was uncomfortable. He came across as dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the stay feel even more awkward. Overall Atmosphere: The general condition of the building was unsettling enough that our children were actually frightened and asked if we could leave and stay somewhere else. While the location could be appealing, the property seems to need significant updates, improved upkeep, and a more welcoming approach to guests.

I could truely go on and on, but actually I suggest you get your butt to this place and enjoy a long weekend with our without a special event. (note they do weddings here so it books up!). Just go. Go for the breakfasts, go for the dinners, go and ask Stan for some house-smoked meats! Seriously, these people are amazing, the space is special, and the complete quiet (and darkness at night) are a wonderful relief. Note: Cell signal is poor at best. Wifi is available, but really...don't do it, unplug for a few days.

I come up to New Hampshire every year in October to visit my daughter and son-in-law in Claremont…read more I have found that the Newport Motel is ideal for my stay. I always get a comfortable room for a very good price. But the main thing is Maryann treats me like a member of her family not just a guest. She and Heather, her assistant, have done a remarkable job at upgrading the motel and keeping it clean. I always enjoy coming into the office in the morning for a cup of coffee and talking with Maryann. The motel is conveniently located on the highway near a restaurant (Country Inn) and a car wash and Laundromat. If you are looking for a restful place to stay while you are in the Newport area, my advice would be the Newport Motel.

I was…read morein fear of canceling if I tried to change it online (happened to me before), so I sent a message to the business 2 weeks before. No response so made a reservation for the Sun night elsewhere. So we were planning on traveling on the first date reserved for. Had a stop 1/3 of the way & when reading the confirmation, deep in it -- not on the front page -- it says that check-in is from 3 pm to 8 pm ONLY, and if having late check-in, must contact the motel prior. It was 8:30 pm. I called the motel, left message. No response until after 11 am next day. We had stayed in place that night since we had no idea what we'd do if we got here at 11 pm but couldn't get in. Patrick told me the next day I could have come anyway, that they tape the key to the office door. (Safety?) I told him we didn't know that and wouldn't have taken that risk. He asked when were we coming. I said we planned to get there at 3-3:30 since check-in was limited to 3 pm start. He told me we could have come anyway since we paid for the night before. According to their online info or confirmation, 3-8 pm only. He implied he'd take some off the first night and would change the online info & confirmation. (I see now on Yelp that this has happened to other people too..) Time will tell. We checked in. Moldy smell. Bathroom has off/loose tiles/no grout that am guessing water gets in behind so mold. A pleasant surprise was the mic & refrigerator. I didn't see that on the website so was a very nice added amenity. I saw one picture with a pool. Unless that was a different location? there's no pool here. There's a sign about charging for towels that get damaged by makeup etc. That they're providing colored towels for that purpose, but then didn't. Some basic maintenance should be done. Fix tiles around bathroom. Replace blinds that have missing slats. Find source of smell. Toilet seat comes loose -- I've tightened it repeatedly.

I've seen the place when we tried to come in for lunch but it was busy so we went elsewhere but I had only thought it was a restaurant. In fact it is a small inn and restaurant in the same building. I don't know if the building has been built new and made look like the surrounding town but the building looks like it belongs to the town and the surrounding area but from the looks of things the 2nd and 3rd floor of the building have been completely rebuilt and made entirely anew. The room I stayed at is spacious and while it has no frills like luxury hotels might it is clean has nice amenities and very quiet, although I don't know if it is the way that the building is done or just the nice serenity of the surrounding area but it is certainly a welcome situation. If you are in the area I would highly recommend staying there though I can't quite get over the out of hours key distribution in an envelope next to the front desk. I would have made it a text message but that's just me....

Faucet is wobbly, and it needs to be secured to counter. They provide a half dollar size soap at the sink...nothing at the shower. We were staying two nights. The dispenser in the tub area only had conditioner...no soap. One small bottle of shampoo for two for two days. Mold on the shower curtain and in the corner at the top of the tub/wall. I could smell the shower curtain walking into the bathroom! When we pulled the covers back on the bed there was a green thread. Not ours! Were the sheets changed after the previous lodger? Updated rooms look nice, but not enough to entice us back. We have cxld our September reservation for two nights and will lodge elsewhere. We left feedback for the Inn and clearly the response said management would be notified; however, no one has picked up the phone to have a chat! Sad business ethos! I should have taken photos!
