I used this business 5 years ago for 17 windows and I had a great experience. Their estimates are very detailed and are emailed over right away. The communication with them was also great. I have repeated problems with 3 windows that were replaced some years back, they have had to be replaced twice because they were put in backwards. The wood around them is now warping, apparently the installer caulked in the peephole. Again, 2 kids came out, changed out bottom peephole, used a ton of caulking and actually took the liberty to cut the wood out in odd little squares. I have been trying to get them back to fix the mess for weeks. The guy I have talked to is arrogant and condescending. Such a bad experience with Homestar, Milgards windows are great, Homestar installation, etc is not. At 71, I do not deserve to be treated like this, sick to my stomach, just hire some competent help and remember who you are working for, the customer.​​​​​​​ read more

Update: As soon as Dave heard about the holes, he sent someone out the next morning to repair them. I appreciate that they worked so hard to make our experience perfect. If I could throw another star their way, I would. But Yelp limits me to five. There's something magical about sitting by an open window, feeling the gentle breeze. I have not been able to experience that in the past few years, as the windows in my house have been broken and unable to open. So I finally bit the bullet and reached out to HomeStar Windows and Doors to get a bid to replace them. Dave came out to measure and gave me a bid promptly. He did not put on the pressure, but gave me options-"good, better, best" and thoroughly explained the difference. We decided to go through with the replacement and got on the schedule. We also decided to replace the blinds with shutters and asked to coordinate the installation to happen around the same time. Well, the windows were ready to be installed sooner than we anticipated, and Dave offered to cover the cost of having the old blinds taken down and reinstalled so we could go ahead with the window installation before the shutters. It also landed on a day that we would be out of town, so they offered to text me when they arrived and then again when they left for the day. It was nice to get those updates so I was aware of when people would be in my house. When we returned home, the new windows were in and all the old ones were taken away. It made my life easy! All I needed to do was put furniture back that I had moved for them. There were also some holes in walls that I'll need to patch that looked like had been made when the windows were removed. And now, I sit by an open window (that I was able to open with one finger rather than the gargantuan effort it used to take) and enjoy the nice breeze. I shouldn't have waited so long. read more

We used this company twice over a period of a few months. The first time, we had our first-floor windows replaced. They did a good job, though they did need to come over twice to measure. The first time I guess was to just get a general idea, and I thought they had ordered our windows, but then they had to come out again and do the whole measuring thing over again before actually placing the order. Installation was great. The second time, a few months later, we had nine windows on our second floor replaced. They had to re-schedule last minute, which was fine, so I re-scheduled our blinds installation. Unfortunately, it ended up being a two-day install instead of one as quoted, so two weeks after they installed some windows, they came to install the others (partially). I ended up having to put up the blinds myself, because I had already pre-paid for an install that had to be re-scheduled because of HomeStar. After that, they said they didn't pre-order any of the material needed to frame in the windows, so they would need to come back a THIRD time to finish. EIGHT WEEKS AFTER they began the install, they were able to come and finish framing in the windows. Nine windows took two months to install. No official apology, no offer to make it right, no discount, nothing. We need two new doors and five large basement windows replaced and will find someone who actually values our business. read more

Just had HomeStar install 3 new exterior doors at my home. Easily the best experience ever having work done at my home. The quality of the doors is fantastic and the installation crew top notch. I have a 110 year old house so expected some problems but what was projected to be a 2 day process only took 6 1/2 hr. All that and definitely all at a very reasonable price. Great experience from start to finish. Steve was professional, kind and knowledgeable and didn't promise me the world with my windows and doors I was having installed like other companies did. Due to the project, he wanted to make sure everything was going to work out before he sold me a certain type of door. He had someone come by and take off the trim to confirm we could do the project the way I wanted. Other companies just said yep, this will work, without really taking a look at the door itself. The install was fast and done well. Joseph and his team were courteous, cleaned up after themselves and did a great job. We could not be more pleased with the service and product we received. Was HomeStar the cheapest window bid I received? No. But they were the ones that showed me up front what it was going to cost and took the whole wall into consideration, while the others told me there would be more costs, and barely glanced at the wall. I did have more costs due to some rotting wood under my old doors, but the cost to fix that was very reasonable. We purchased Milgard windows from the Trinsic line. When I need to replace any windows on my home, I won't be calling anyone else but HomeStar. read more

We ordered all new windows and doors (front, side garage, and 2 patio sliding doors) from HomeStar and are very pleased. They are definitely not the cheapest and have a longer lead time than other companies we looked at, but they look great and are very good quality. Customer service is also excellent as everyone went above and beyond to ensure we were happy. There was one issue (our front door came in the wrong color), but they quickly rectified it.
