So I called JP&G and explained my situation. I was told that my glass was under a 10 year warranty and the window frame a 20 year. They claimed this was a glass issue and it was past the 10 year mark. Which didn't make sense. If a window is foggy then the frame has obviously failed and the gas has escaped. I researched this. They sent someone out and said they would give me a discount but it was still very expensive. I talked with my neighbor and he said to contact the window manufacturer directly, which I did, and I am now getting my windows replaced by the manufacturer for free! I feel like JP&G should have known this. They work with this manufacturer! It felt like they we're being deceitful. they should know what their manufacturers offer. I asked my other neighbor about her experience. She had called a different glass company to replace her windows not knowing about the warranty. They looked at her windows, told her they should still be under warranty and took care of all of it for her at no cost to her. That was the honest thing to do! While I think they did a good job and I like their products, they were super expensive and I still had 14 more windows that needed to be replaced. In May of this year I started to seriously consider getting the rest replaced. Enter Alpine Exteriors. They provided the third bid and landed in the middle price wise. They were considerably less expensive than Champion (no surprise) and slightly more expensive than a no name company that came out selling cheap quality windows. But Alpine Exteriors quality, service, and selection really stood out. I met with the owner, Hiram Molloy, at my home and there was zero sales pressure and no games. He has access to a number of different windows at all different price points, so he was able to find something in my budget and a quality I was happy with. They were installed a couple weeks ago and that was the real test. I'm pretty OCD and I want perfection. I'm never fully satisfied because that would be impossible, but the installers did a nice job. They were friendly and detail oriented. I asked a lot of questions and spent a fair amount of time watching the install and they were courteous and obviously knew what they were doing. They also cleaned up the mess and used preventative measures around my furniture to keep the mess at a minimum. Upon final cleanup they collected all the stickers from the windows and placed them on copy paper so I could apply for the rebate. Hiram followed through on his promise and mailed me all the rebate paperwork with instructions. If you are looking for a quality window company that offers a competitive price and does what they say they are going to do, look no further than Alpine Exteriors.

After nearly a year and a half of waiting for Utah Window Experts to resolve some of the…read moreoutstanding issues and damage caused by their installers to our window products, we are finally settling with these people after they threatened to sue to collect the small remaining balance we had witheld to try to get them to stand by their installation. What a joke. We finally contacted Milgard directly to correct a slider that had a 3/8" gap due to wrong window size that allowed winter air to blow directly into our living room, and were told by the Milgard reps that the installers for Utah Window Experts had also not leveled or shimmed the sliders correctly, accounting for some of the issues we were seeing. This was not a small job, it was nearly a $60K order for a new custom build, and Utah Window Experts even acknowledged most of the screw-ups they caused, including delaying our construction completion by months by failing to order all the windows specified to complete the job. Despite this, they never took any ownership of fixing the issues or damages caused by one of the three crews sent to install the windows. I previously gave them 2 stars based on the last crew sent out to complete the installation doing decent work, but now am dropping to a single star based on their extremely poor customer service and lack of follow through. Have had mostly good experiences with the subs for this project, however Utah Window Experts was not one of them. No one has perfect reviews, but would recommend using almost anyone else for a window installation. Milgard does make a good product, and our experience with the producthas generally been great, however could never recommend this distributor/installer. If you want Milgard, find someone else to install.

I have repeated problems with 3 windows that were replaced some years back, they have had to be…read morereplaced twice because they were put in backwards. The wood around them is now warping, apparently the installer caulked in the peephole. Again, 2 kids came out, changed out bottom peephole, used a ton of caulking and actually took the liberty to cut the wood out in odd little squares. I have been trying to get them back to fix the mess for weeks. The guy I have talked to is arrogant and condescending. Such a bad experience with Homestar, Milgards windows are great, Homestar installation, etc is not. At 71, I do not deserve to be treated like this, sick to my stomach, just hire some competent help and remember who you are working for, the customer.​​​​​​​

The initial consultation took almost three weeks to transpire, mainly due to our primary residence being in another state. But they were more than accommodating to our hectic schedule, which even included their salesman being willing to meet with my husband at 6:00 in the morning! The options they brought to the table were endless and rather inspiring. After a handful of choices, we decided on all new Pella windows, Hardie and steel siding, stone accents and some really good looking raingutter. They even ended up blowing in new insulation in a number of exterior walls. All the installers were amazing to work with and it was very comforting to know we could trust them with access to our home while we were away. We did experience some material delays during the process, but we regularly face supply issues in our own business and realize this was not a reflection of their company but rather the current state of our economy. The transformation took just over six weeks to complete. Because we could only revisit the project twice during construction, they would regularly send pictures and videos of their progress. Their attention to detail and concern for our home was so very much appreciated.
