Amazing pizza, one of the best that I've had. We ordered the salami, rocket, and Parmesan pizza for takeout. The pizza was ready almost immediately. One bite and I could tell that the flavors complimented each other extremely well. The salami in particular was amazing - so good that I was left wondering how i could get some just for myself. Let's start off: I'm a pizza snob, through and through. As a native NYer, I am privileged to have experienced fantastic pies and slices throughout my life. London has sorely disappointed on the other hand. Now, I have eaten a courgette takeaway slice - 4 pounds!!!- and it was surprisingly delicious. Solid amount of topping, excellent dough base, enough cheese to satisfy me. So, I took the plunge this weekend and decided to try a whole pie (with friends for God's sake, it's massive!) The Fitzrovia location has dark wood paneling and whilst loud, is not overbearing. We got a server relatively quickly. We split a pie half and half: mushroom, ricotta, pumpkin seed and chili and then aubergine, cauliflower cheese, spinach and harissa on the other. OMG. The flavour on the mushroom one is particularly punchy: rich 'shroom taste with a touch of heat. The aubergine is roasted perfectly and the harissa is SPICY. The crust is thin, which I prefer. I am only dinking a star because the pizza is SO salty. In fact, beside the great flavour, that was what I immediately noticed. Could do without that. read more

Good pizza, great flavour. Definitely the nicer of the two Homeslices. Let's be clear - if you just want a traditional pizza with great quality then go to Franco Manca or similar. If you want a lot of food, at a decent price, and you want to discover new flavours in the process - Homeslice is your bag! We ended up in the Wells street branch after finding out the other one was packed. Turns out this one was far more enjoyable. You weren't rushed and it was much bigger and quieter. Homeslice offers individual slices, but most customers order the full pizzas. All pizzas come in massive 20 inch sizes, but can be half and half. We were a table of four, so had two pizzas and four different types. This was more than enough food. The pizza base itself is lovely - not the best, but is what you need for the toppings. I enjoyed all four of the rather peculiar types, but we all had our favourites. They were all delicious though and I would have been happy with a full pizza of just one of them. So, my advice - head to Homeslice on an empty stomach and an open mind, and enjoy. read more

I have a Homeslice problem. I love Homeslice. I live 5 minutes from Franco Manca, yet still I crave Homeslice. I've now been to the new Wells St location of Homeslice twice, once during the soft opening, and once since. Food quality was consistent with the Neil's Yard location and the service was friendly. What sets this location apart is that it is much bigger than the Neil's Yard, has a full bar downstairs, and is (as of this date) less known about, so the queues are shorter (though I'm sure that will change soon enough). It is still busy, mind you, but it had a 20 min wait for two people on a Friday night, rather than the 2 hours I was quoted at NY. We tried two cocktails, one pina colada (with fresh passion fruit!) and one hibiscus sour. Both were excellent. I'd go to this branch for the cocktails alone, and the bar downstairs gives you something more to do whilst waiting for your table than circling around Covent Garden ad nauseam. Well done, Homeslice. All accolades are very much deserved on all aspects of the dining experience. read more

Homeslice in Wells Street is probably the best place for a pizza in Fitzrovia. I recommend the rocket, salami and parmesan slice! The new Homeslice branch in Fitzrovia is tucked away on a small side street. It is a beautiful place, on-trend with the typical industrial chic elements one have become to expect at new openings in London in recent years. But Homeslice is more than a well-designed average pizzeria. Staff at Homeslice are lovely and the pizzas are outstanding. When I visited on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was not very busy and the service was quick and efficient. To be fair, the place just opened so I would expect it to become busier quickly within the next few weeks or months. I was hungry, so I decided to get two of the large slices. My clear favourite was the salami, rocket and parmesan pizza. It tasted absolutely delicious. That said, the Margherita slice was also nice. I was a little bit disappointed by the drinks selection - next time I should probably try the Italian sparkling wine on tap, this time I just ordered the fresh orange juice. It was tasty, but not actually freshly squeezed on-site. They strictly focus on pizza, so they also don't do coffee. However, I think this is a wise decision, because Homeslice in Wells Street is just a short walk from both Kaffeine branches, with other great coffee shops like Attendant and Curators Coffee Gallery nearby as well. So if you crave a coffee after the pizza, you won't have to go far to get to some of the best coffee shops in London. But really, if you find yourself in Fitzrovia and you want a pizza, Homeslice is definitely one of the best places around. read more

Popped in as I've heard about this and Guerilla being the best newcomers to London's well-populated pizza scene. Like burger restaurants, the number of pizza places has grown hugely over the last couple of years and inevitably brands will have to come up with something a little different to stand out. Homeslice does this very well with large pizzas and very interesting flavours. Wells St has a very relaxed atmosphere, simple unpretentious decor with friendly attentive staff. I was made to feel very welcome without the slightly over-pushy salesmanship you often get at central London venues. It felt very relaxing after rushing around all morning. I was initially going to have a slice but there are only three on offer by the slice which is a tad disappointing if you want to be adventurous but only want a quick snack. Usually I'll have a magherita as a first-try but I couldn't resist trying the slow-cooked goat shoulder with savoy cabbage & sumac. The Oxtail & watercress/horseradish dressing seemed good as well so I ordered a full pizza with half-and-half. The pizza is delicious! Both recipes were wonderfully flavoured, not overly powerful, alot of subtleness and depth. Clearly the recipes are well thought-out. The base is very tasty as is the tomato base sauce, so much so the I asked for a glass of the sauce to dip my crusts in (I hardly ever eat the crusts!). If you're hungry enough you can easily have almost a whole pizza to yourself, the base is quite thin so you can eat plenty without feeling bloated at the end. Having eaten a whole pizza to myself I didn't try dessert but they looked delicious. I'd thoroughly recommend trying Homeslice if you fancy something a little different and a good well-executed pizza. I'll definitely be going back! read more

Stopped in here on a whim while walking around before a show. Luckily, we got lucky and didn't have to wait for a table. The restaurant itself is relatively small, so expect to sit close to others. The pizzas are very large and they have some pretty unique combinations. You're allowed to do a half and half pizza to try different options. We got a pizza with half chorizo/corn/coriander and half anchovies/grilled onions/kalamata olives. The flavor profiles were good, but the pizza was lacking in quantity of toppings. The chorizo, for example, was used really sparingly, so you really couldn't taste it. The crust itself was pretty good. Overall, just an average pizza joint. Interesting ingredient combinations, but the pizzas don't have enough toppings to really be enjoyable. read more

I'd been to Homeslice in Covent Garden a few times, so I was eager to try their new location. Because they have the BEST PIZZA IN LONDON. Seriously. So Miraj and I decided to stop in because he hadn't tried their pizzas before. This venue is much bigger, and at 6:30 pm on a Tuesday night it was super easy to get in. So that was a bonus for me. I hate queuing. Although if it's anything like the other branch, they will take your number, so it's not as bad as it could be. But it didn't matter because we got right in. So we got some red wine. They basically just bring out a magnum and you can fill up your glasses. It's £4 per glass, and if you drink the magnum, you get one of the glasses for free. So that happened. (They do the same for white and rose, but the rose is £5 a glass). They also have beer and prosecco if you're that way inclined. The choices are fairly straightforward. They do 20-inch pizzas for £20. And you can get half and half. Or you can get a slice. For much cheaper (don't ask me how much). They only have a few pizza selection by the slice, but their selections for the whole pizza are much larger. And they change them up fairly often. And they're always interesting and amazing. I tried to get two of the crazy toppings for the pizza, but Miraj is a bit less adventurous that I am, so we got the goat with cabbage and sumac yogurt on one half and the standard salami, rocket and parmesan on the other (with parmesan on the side... don't ask). I really wanted the eggplant, cauliflower cheese and harissa, but alas, it didn't happen. The pizza actually came out relatively quickly too. And it was delicious. LOTS OF DELICIOUS. Even Miraj was very impressed. He did have a slight issue with the paper plates and lack of cutlery (as in you don't get it: you eat with your hands because pizza), but after eating the delicious pizza he totally got over it. It's also because when they originally opened, they were a street cart, so it goes back to their roots. And the service is great too. Lots of friendly staff including a particular Glaswegian woman who chatted with us for ages. And I managed not to offend her (in case you don't know, offending Glaswegians is what I'm best at apparently). Even the server I inadvertently yelled at one of the servers about not bringing water when I was telling a story about someone yelling at a server for not bringing water, they were pretty cool with it. At least she seemed to be. I did explain to her I wasn't really yelling at her, even though I was drunk and yelling and she happened to be in that direction (seriously, I really wasn't yelling at her). I hope I'll be back here for lots more delicious pizza and lots more delicious wine and great service and whatever else comes. Homeslice rocks! read more

Not sure what 'home' they are referring to, but it sure ain't NYC or Italian pizza. What's with the pizza craze? Hm, relatively cheap ingredients, quick to make, big markup = sudden plethora of pizza joints taking over London. To me it seems each new one that opens is like a horrible virus replicating: worse than the last, yet curiously pervasive. The experience wasn't all bad, but I wasn't terribly impressed. Pros: -Trendy rustic interior -Pleasant staff -Convenient location -Interesting toppings and topping combinations - Acceptable price if you buy a full pie, £20 which yields 6 - 8 slices (depending how you cut it). A single slice costs £4 so it's economical to dine with a small group. 3 slices from an 8 slice cutting are quite filling. Cons: -uh, the pizza. I will give them credit for using interesting topping combinations (see 'pros' above), but found them to be a bit light on the toppings themselves. I had one with anchovies, I think there were about 6 of them over the entire pie (which is 20 inches in diameter). I noticed the rocket, salami and parmesean pizza offered not very much salami and a lot of rocket. The base was totally floppy, not crisp at all. If you are eating a slice of pizza, the proper way to eat a slice is to fold it in half....which doesn't work when the middle flops down and the toppings slide off. This was not singular to my serving...oh no. I went with a group of people and tasted 3 different pies...and they were all limp. Flaccid pizza is simply wrong. Shame as the base let down some of the good toppings. Mediocre at best. read more

Great pizza with a different take on the toppings. Met a mate here for a catch up, the pizza selection is written up on the board and I believe changes regularly. Don't expect to get your usual variety here but the options are interesting and very tasty. You can buy either per slice or 20" pizza.... Which is pretty massive, you can also ask for mixed toppings. The only small disappointment I had was that some of the toppings mean the pizza becomes a bit soggy quickly and they don't serve you with cutlery so it's got potential to get a bit messy. I liked the rustic feel of this restaurant, and there's certainly more space than the other homeslice in Neals yard!! When we went the staff were a bit new and it was a little bit of a struggle, but they were mostly a good bunch that I'm sure will eventually pull together. Beers on tap were a little limited but what they had was good. read more

The menu and pizzas are the same as the ones in Covent Garden. The only difference is the interior which I find bigger and better looking. Homeslice honestly make the best pizzas in town. The dough is moist and juicy, all the ingredients are fresh and warm, almost boiling and the toppings are delicious and give the pizzas even more flavour. The pizzas here taste authentic and can be compared to home-made ones. The service is good, actually better that at Covent Garden and we practically didn't wait to be served which is always a good thing when you are hungry. read more

We came here on a work dinner, so I didn't get to choose anything but I am still going to review it. Firstly they were hilariously bad at dealing with a large group and tried to make us sit at two separate tables. We tried to push them together and they said 'you can't do that, it's two sections'. We explained that we had booked and wanted to sit together. The place was empty but their manager had said no. Ermmm, get real. We eventually were moved to another table but the the whole thing seemed ridiculous. We had pre-ordered, since it was a large group, that, I guess, they didn't think wanted to sit together. It was weird, they knew we were coming since they were catering to a chili allergy but hadn't the table set up? The weird thing about the set up of this place is that the pizzas are huge and need to be plonked right in the middle of the tables, even though there doesn't really seem room for that. We had ordered one of every pizza and they are fantastic. My favourite was mushroom with balsamic glaze and second favourite was broccoli and pumpkin. I easily ate 4 huge slices of pizza and it worries me that I could have kept going. We also availed of their wine. Instead of just buying a glass, they drop off a magnum of either red or white and then you help yourself and they measure it at the end. Somehow 4 of us drank 11 glasses, 3/4 of the bottle. Hmm, those glasses are very small and at £4 each, this just seems very expensive. If I was paying for myself, I would probably just have gotten beers so that I knew how much I would be paying. Homeslice, wow. I have had the privilege of trying Pizzas from all over the world. I would say that I am a bit of a snob when it comes to eating pizza. I will straight out admit that Homeslice isn't just one of the best pizzas I have had in London, but in the world. It is have to compare it to a wood stove traditional pizza from Italy, it is its own thing. The 20 inch pizzas are beastly and best attacked with a companion or group (depending on your hunger levels), but their variation of toppings and sauce create some of the most mouth watering slices that I have ever tasted. Personal favourites of mine include the Ricotta and Pumpkin seed (with a bit of chilli) and the Salami, Rocket and Parmesan. Honestly though, all of their pizzas are delicious. You are provided the opportunity to choose a topping to cover all your pizza, or split it into a half and half. This is generally the right choice as you can enjoy more for your money. A 20 inch pizza will set you back £20, at a pound an inch, meaning that if you share one with a companion, you can look at a very satasfiying and filling meal for less than £15 (including drinks). The staff are delightful, friendly and constantly upbeat on everyone of my visits (and to be honest, there have be MANY visits). It is worth pointing out that this is one of a few Homeslice restaurants that are around London, but it is certainly one of the larger ones and in my opinion the one you have to wait the least amount of time for, when it comes to getting a table. You can not book ahead of time, but there are bars around (and in the restaurant itself) where you can wait for a call to let you know that your table is ready. I would strongly recommend this to any pizza lover. It isn't going to be a traditional pizza, but I promise you, the food will blow your socks off. Try, enjoy and have a wonderful meal. read more

Homeslice at Neals Yard was the first pizzeria I visited in London and Since then I visited around ten Yelp-recommended pizzerias around Central London. Each time I found myself comparing the venues to Homeslice and so today I decided its time to revisit. For changes sake I went to the branch on Wells and found it conveniently empty on an early Sunday afternoon (around 1245hrs). After a brief chat with the lovely Waitress I picked half mushroom-ricotta-pumpkin seed, half oxtail-watercress with horseradish. My pizza was ready in a flash and I git instantly hit with the loveliest aroma of freshly baked dough with a note of roasted seeds (from the pumpkin seeds). Eating it for the first time I really missed a lot of subtleties this pizza has to offer. It is really food to take you time with and I wholeheartedly recommend the combination I picked. The oxtail pizza has classic taste with a nice focal twist provided by the meat. The mushroom on the other hand is completely unconventional and has the most interesting texture provided by the mix of garlic sauce base and seeds. For me, a perfect balancing act. I already glorified the dough in Neal Yards branch review so I am going to head for conclusion. Having visited quite a number of Ldn pizzerias over last months I am absolutely positive that for now Homeslice is the number one for my taste. read more
