They have become Dr.Horton- A mass producer, with literary 3 ladies handling a ridiculous amount of work. They have stretched their staff so thin, that none is effective. It is so sad to see. If you are planning on signing any deals with them, my advice is to wait. Afterall rates are so high. Buy the land and hold off on starting your project, otherwise it will take a month get an email back from any of them after you sign the contract. read more

Received a very rude and unprofessional response from Tony that included personal information which he posted publicly. As someone who claims to support the military, his comments were very appalling and insensitive to veterans. To state that he would've been more likely to keep his word and fix the issue had we been "nicer" is very enlightening. Based on his mean spirited response, would like to remind him that he was "heart broken"when I relayed how disappointed I was with him when I pointed out that we lost a large amount of money because he failed to followup with the developer. How quickly he forgets making statements like being a "man of his word"'or that he "always does the right thing." I'm sure he can pull up the video of our meeting in July stating the latter. All subsequent correspondence since that meeting indicated he was working on the issue. We worked hard to achieve our dream of country living and for a professional builder to trivialize it is disappointing to say the least. At the end of the day, we lost money based on his misrepresentation. Had he been upfront and said he could not fix the issues or didn't agree with our request, it would never have escalated to this point.I am glad I got to see his true colors which seems to be confirmed by the other negative reviews. Or the ones they are not manipulating by having removed. Buyer beware! I have better things to do like saving's people's lives than defend myself from his "polite", mean spirited attacks. read more

I originally thought I wanted to build with J Anthony Homes and placed a lot hold on a lot in Stinson Highlands. However, once I toured the Our Country Homes model my plans and desires immediately changed. I was no longer interested in a home by J Anthony. I personally found the Our Country Homes product to be more desirable. I placed a lot hold on the very same lot with Our Country Homes, planning to move forward. Since that time Tony Prutch, of J Anthony Homes, has done everything possible to prevent me from building on the lot with Our Country Homes. I have filed a lawsuit in district court as a result against J. Anthony Homes. Based on my research, Tony has a pattern of not being fully honest in his business dealings. read more

OUR EXPERIENCE WITH TONY and ALL HIS TEAM has been nothing but wonderful. We interviewed several builders, and while they all seemed to know what they were doing, and would build a good house, TONY set the bar for kindness and incredible creativity that brought enthusiasm and excitement to the building process. After listening to us and what we would want, he started jotting and drawing and just in that first meeting I could see that he was heads above the rest with paying attention to all the little details (WHICH I LOVE) to make the house splendid. We are right in the middle of the building process now, and I LOVE WHAT I AM SEEING. We have been pleasantly surprised with all the little "TONY" details that I know we would not have had with another builder that we spoke to. He is as GOOD AS IT GETS WITH DESIGN, DELIVERING A GOOD PRODUCT, MEETING WITH YOU IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS, AND GOES BEYOND TO MAKE THE BUILDING A SMOOTH PROCESS. HIS WHOLE TEAM is impressive. Every person I have come in contact with even the cabinet people, door people, appliance people..... they are all very professional but most of all just great down to earth people who are amazing at their job. They go way beyond the call as far as great people. I was stuck in the mud on our lot one day after a heavy rain, and I contacted J ANTHONY to ask a question and within 30 minutes, one of their guys, who had a big chain, pulled me out of the mud within minutes ! Impressive. WE close in the spring of 2020 and so far, the entire experience has been really good and Tony is as good as gold. You will not find anyone as creative, organized, friendly, helpful and diligent and KEEPS HIS WORD when it comes to building your house. This is what we have experienced thus far. Tony Prutch and his entire team are the absolute best ! We came to Tony with a very specific design and style to build . From the initial concept and design phase to every single update / change / progress / strategy we had with Tony and his crew our expectations were exceeded by a landslide . We approached Tony initially with a very tight timeline to be in the house and he had us moving in just before Christmas and we were able to enjoy and incredible first Christmas in our incredible new house ! The accessibility of Tony and his crew was so nice and easy and they made building a house totally painless and easy ! If you are not at least interviewing Homes By J Anthony to quote / build your house .... you could be costing yourself a significant amount of time , money and potentially headache ! As a side .... Tony and Gary and Mike all became great friends of ours through the build process . That's not something I think people can say often after building a house with a company ! read more

I cannot express how disappointed I am with Tony Prutch, owner of Homes by J Anthony. On May 22, 2019 we visited his model home in Lucas, TX with our realtor and met with Tony. During this meeting we laid out the type of house we were interested in building and provided Tony with a typed list of options we would want. Tony said yes to everything and made it seem like he was 100% confident he could build us what we wanted for the price we wanted to pay. Tony stated he would require a refundable $10,000 deposit to begin work on the plans once we decided to move forward. Our realtor provided Tony with the lot information and Tony, via email, stated he would pull the plot information and agreed to a second meeting at the lot. On June 10, 2019, we met Tony at the lot and he quickly looked at the lot, told us he felt it was a great lot and listened to some of our ideas. Tony stated that we should give him "a few days" to put together an initial design for the lot and to come up with a better idea of pricing. He again reiterated that he could build us a house in our price range and to give him a few days to put it together. I came to this meeting with my checkbook prepared to give the $10,000 deposit Tony had previously mentioned but he never requested any money. After 8 days of not hearing back from Tony our realtor began reaching out to Tony on June 18, 2019 via text and phone calls with no response. On June 20, 2019 I called Tony's cell phone myself and left a voicemail checking status and hoping everything was ok with him. Almost immediately after leaving my message, Tony texted our Realtor saying he was out of town with bad service through Monday June 24, 2019. After not hearing from Tony again our realtor again tried reaching out to him the entire week of June 24th with no response. On June 29, 2019 I sent Tony an email asking why he had not responded to us and as of this review I have not received a response. Luckily the only thing I've wasted here is time as I haven't given Tony any money, however, I highly recommend steering clear of Homes by J. Anthony and Tony Prutch unless you feel comfortable working with and giving your money to someone who has no problem disappearing with no explanation. read more

This review is regarding home builder J. Anthony Homes, a new company. My husband and I were misled by Tony, the owner of this company, about the possibility of purchasing of a lot in the Mallard Reserve neighborhood in Rowlett, TX (Tony previously worked with MChristopher Homes, which went bankrupt or out of business recently, and for which there are reviews on YELP). We met with Tony in Dec. 2016 and Jan. 2017. Anyway, Tony was looking for potential buyers on behalf of the owner of the lot. Tony initially impressed us with what appeared to be friendliness and professionalism. We met with him 3 times at one of the partially completed homes he was building in that neighborhood. At all three meetings we had with him, we told him that we wanted to buy the lot, informed him of our budget and of our desire for a 2-story home. He was agreeable to everything we said, and assured us that he could rip out the existing slab on the lot meant for a 1-story home on the budget we gave to him. He even stated that he would take the loss for the additional cost of a 2-story slab! At our final meeting with him, he even began to draw a home design concept for us right in front of us on his kitchen counter, and promised at that time and by email several days later to complete the design concept by the following week. However, after that final January meeting, he failed to respond to our numerous phone calls, emails and texts. We soon learned from our realtor and one of our friends in mid-February that he had sold the lot to someone else, after previously assuring us that he (or the lot owner) would sell the lot to us. We sent him a final email to him in which we expressed our disgust with the the way he treated us as potential clients. His sheepish email response revealed to us that he had over-promised things on which he could not deliver, and was embarrassed. He thought that the best thing for him to do was to simply cut communications with us; and he actually wrote in his final email response that he was "sorry" and that he "should have communicated better" with us. Yes, he should have. Honesty is the best policy - not dishonesty. Proceed with caution with this home contractor. read more
