This restaurant is really nice and clean inside. The place was PACKED. I'm not sure why ro be honest. It's not a place I would drive a long distance to eat at. The side salad was room temperature, the ranch dressing had no flavor. I got the BLT, there was a leaf of lettuce and 3 strips of bacon. (You get more bacon at Sonic and its not $11 plus). The homemade chips were good and the restaurant by in large was quiet. The old man next to me told me he and his wife got to go cups because they never refilled his cup. Homer is a restaurant we frequent twice a week and have for the last several weeks. Typically the service is good and the staff is attentive. However, tonight was a major disappointment. After being seated, my wife and I waited for at least 30 minutes before we notified the hostess to ask her, would she contact the server to come wait on us. With an attitude, the hostess reluctantly went toward the back and came back and reported the server would be with us shortly. After another 15 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave. After exiting the restaurant and having a brief discussion, we walked back in and asked for a manager. We were told no manager was in anda a young lady named Madison came to the front to try to assist. We advised her of the situation and she offered to take care of us if we would be willing to stay. Sadly, the area that we were sat in, had three servers working in this area and all three servers ignored us. Madison was the only server who provided us with service and apologized for the difficulty we were having. As I said, usually the service is great however, tonight was a huge disappointment. I want to take this opportunity to think Madison for her time and her attention and for trying to make our dining experience as pleasant as possible. Hummer is a restaurant we use when we are in the mood for comfort food, but after tonight's disappointing experience, we are rethinking using homers as our go to spot for comfort food. read more

The fried catfish was exactly as I expected and hoped it would be-- crispy and delicious. I'm writing this review to call attention to the hush puppies and tartar sauce which were way better than expected. I'm comparing them to restaurants in New Orleans and points north throughout Mississippi and Arkansas. This was the best tartar sauce and hush puppies I've ever had. Congrats to Homers! read more

I really liked Homer's West... It is not fine dining by any means but they do what they do very well. The service was awesome they took care of me. I had the 3 peice southern fried chicken meal which was really good. They have a huge selection of sides that I have never had or even heard of... Purple hull peas??? But I did have the pickled beets and the cucumber salad which were delicious. I had a fried pie with ice cream which was really good (never had that before). Update; I think the day I wrote the last post I must have had a bad morning. Ever since our Saturday morning breakfasts have been perfect. As usual, service is second to none! We were having a hard time deciding between Homers or another restaurant for lunch as we were passing through but the parking lot was packed, which is normally a good sign that it must be good. We ordered a sausage and cheese tray $20 and asked our server what we should order with it being our first time, she suggested the meat loaf $12 We ordered and split the meat loaf, cucumber salad and cabbage. It came with the choice of corn bread or a roll. We washed everything down with sweet tea and got a peach cobbler to go. Sweet tea: not overly sweet 6/10 Sausage and cheese tray: for $20? We were not impressed, cubed Monterey Jack cheese, sliced cooked sausage, 4 pickled okra, bbq sauce? And saltine crackers that had some kind of season salt or Tony's on it.. but $20 smh maybe $10-12 because of the amount of sausage and cheese. Meat loaf: was good, not overly cooked, seasoned well. Just not wowed 5.5/10 The cabbage: the Bomb.com 10/10, we loved it Cucumber salad: diced cucumbers, purple onion, tomatoes, was good the lunch special for $12 seemed like a good value. Peach cobbler: I expected more, was a small scoop you'd serve a child not what we were given. Disappointed in the portion size but it was very good Overall: food was fine but disappointed by the sausage and cheese tray and cobbler. On the day we went it was two people in our group on a Saturday around 3 pm and we were seated right away. It was very clean in there and the overall atmosphere was very comfortable. Not too quiet - not too loud. The menu choices were good we both found something we wanted to try right away. There were good options for daily special as well. Our server was very nice and he suggested items for us to try as side dishes,(neither of us had been before). The food came out quickly enough, it was hot and fresh . The mashed potatoes were definitely not instant they were perfectly done. The country fried steak was perfect, the fried chicken was delicious as well (we shared what each other got so we could try more things that way) the vegetables were seasoned nicely and the rolls were a very nice touch to the meals . I am giving this place the full 5 stars on my first visit because I honestly don't see anything they needed to improve. I highly recommend this place . Keep up the great work !! read more

Homer's clearly has made a serious attempt at upgrading their menu, and especially, improving the atmosphere. But we had to wait almost 45 minutes for our food, and I can't endorse that. This is my second time there (I showed up the first week after their reopening in the new space). They're still slammed (the parking lot when we arrived was all but completely full), and the kitchen seems overwhelmed. Went last night with a friend. Tried to order a Moscow Mule and they were out of ginger beer. Then ordered a lemon drop martini. It was excellent. I ordered a chicken fried steak white gravy, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes brown gravy. My friend ordered the same but instead ordered chicken fried chicken. I kid you not our food returned in less than 10 minutes. Our food was cold. There is no way this could've been freshly made. The steak had no seasoning and breading tasted funny. This was not homemade and felt like something popped from a freezer with store bought gravy. Potatoes tasted like instant potatoes. The Mac and a cheese was decent. My friend received a chicken fried steak instead of chicken fried chicken. I was really excited to visit as it is usually packed. Very inconsistent! The fried okra was fried in fish grease(yuck) tonight. The chicken fingers are good. One time the fruit was thawed frozen soggy fruit. The next time it was good. First time in Little Rock. Was driving by and decided to stop at Homers. Ordered the Chicken fried chicken with the white gravy. It was really good. The chicken was juicy and all white meat. The seasoning was perfect and the breading had a nice crunch. The loaded mashed potatoes were really good and the Mac and cheese were delicious as well. I am extremely disappointed with this restaurant. Not only did they run out of rolls and mac and cheese, but the kitchen also closed just 10 minutes after we arrived and we were not even informed by the host. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. How can a restaurant run out of such basic and popular items? And to not even inform us about the early kitchen closure is just disrespectful to customers. I will not be returning to this establishment and I will make sure to let others know about the poor service and lack of communication. All of this was on a FRIDAY night. Wow.
