I was hoping that this visit would be as wonderful as back before it sold to new owners. I really wanted it to be great again. Remember the days when you had to make reservations and order your slice of pie before you got there? No more. Here's the issues...the food. I used to LOVE the Keo Classic. Now its avocado slices are too thin, the parmesan coating wasnt as crispy, and it wasnt warmed up enough. And...its about $5 more than it used to be. Next, the pie. It used to be just flawless, perfect smoothness of filling and nice high meringue. The meringue was still very good. However, the filling was floury tasting. It either had too much or wasnt cooked long enough. I lacked the decadence and creaminess of pies of the past. I can tell why it wasnt that crowded. Its just not the same and not an improvement. Maybe the new owners will take these comments to heart and fill the ultra quaint little cafe again. read more

Just a quick reply to owner. Many folks after us were seated in the back room which was warmer at the time. We were in fact yelled at to go back to front room. I ended up giving my Mom my sweater. As far as complaining, once we received the unwelcoming shout to return to front room, i was just trying to salvage the trip for my Mom's sake. It was evident that management was the issue. I mean if you are willing to yell at an elderly woman and serve a pie slice that has all the meringue off to side, no amount of complaining will 'correct' our negative experience. read more

Ive been coming to Charlotte's for 30 years but hadnt been to it in about 8 years. When we got there there was a person talking to a customer and the people before us were just walking in and seating themselves, there wasnt a sign that I could see so we were going to sit down and the person at the register asked, how many in your party? We said two and she yelled, sit in the front. We seated ourselves. This person also waited on us...she was brisk, rude and and rolled her eyes alot. She never came over and asked if we needed refills or anything else for that matter. This was the OWNER. I have worked as an HR person for 25 years and know a thing or two about customer service. Stick to greeting customers at the front door, run the register and keep the books, but dont wait tables, try to seat people and run the register. Waiting tables take a knowledgable and pleasant individual who ensures the customer has an enjoyable dining exoerience. Not one where they are afraid to ask a question or ask for a to go box. Im sorry to say, but you are not a people person and thats "ok". No response needed. Im entitled to my opinion. The food was great though and people in the community and surrounding areas should support this establishment, but as the OWNER,you need to try a little harder. Slow down, enjoy the customers, take a moment to appreciate the opportunity. Perhaps walking around and checking in on oeople and their exoerience might help you understand them and yourself. Good burger. Excellent service and friendly staff. Usually get coconut pie which gets 5 stars. Changed up and had Chocolate Pie-not nearly as good as their coconut pie. We were greeted when we walked in. The waitstaff was very accommodating and attentive to our needs/wants. I had the double cheeseburger and it was, maybe, the best burger I've ever had at a family owned restaurant. We drove about 50 miles to try Charlotte's out......we will be back! read more

Food: Bacon Cheese Burger. 5 out of 10. This burger had so much potential. The fresh hamburger patty and grilled bun were delicious but there was no wow factor. The dress and the bacon could have really knocked this burger out of the park, but it just didn't do it for me. More bacon with a thinker sliced and ripe tomato and some onion and mustard instead of just mayo could have set this burger off. Chocolate Pie: Defiantly a 10/10. Delicious crust, filling and beautiful meringue all made from scratch. Reminded me of my early childhood spending time with my grandma and her making me my own miniature homemade chocolate pie. They were not serving the Fresh Fruit Plate yet, so I ordered the Chicken Salad Plate, & the famous "Keo Klassic" sandwich. Very good Chicken Salad, & I think I'm hooked on the Keo Klassic. Not impressed. The food was obviously frozen although the mashed potatoes may have been fresh but didn't have a good flavor. The pies with the graham cracker crusts were ok but I could have gotten just as good in the freezer section at the grocery store. Great place for lunch an if you like pie or cake eat your desert first. We were working in Lonoke an ran down for lunch an was worth the drive. Service is great even though they were busy. After many years of my grandmother talking about Charlotte's in Keo, I finally made it there during a recent visit to Arkansas. To call Keo a small town is an understatement, but the "downtown" fills up at lunchtime, all due to Charlotte's!! We were wise enough (thanks for the tip, Granny!) to book a table...glad we did because it was packed!!! The menu is full of simple, home-cooked items. I had the Charlotte's special sandwich: turkey, bacon, avocado, tomato and cheese on white bread, grilled to gooey perfection. Served with chips and a pickle! My son had a kid's cheeseburger. Others at the table had a stuffed tomato, and we got some chicken salad for the table to nibble on. Overall, quite good. I will say that everything we ordered was quite mayonnaise-y. Next time, I will order my sandwich minus the Mayo. Also, when we arrived, they were already out of the famous Charlotte's pies. so, next time, I will order our pies in advance!! read more

Oh my goodness. Driving through Arkansas on a girls weekend when our guide pointed us to the small town of Keo, specifically to grab a slice of pie at Charlotte's. We ordered a slice each of caramel, coconut, and chocolate pies. From the perfectly flaky crust to the tall, light and airy meringue, these pies should not be missed. They offer a lunch menu, and it looked delicious, but we stuck to the pie (we regret nothing!). If you're craving pie, and are in the area, definitely stop here. read more

I have had two nice lunches here this month, both around 11 on Saturday mornings. We started each meal with a fruit bowl, which my kids loved. It was fresh fruit with a poppyseed dressing, which was nice. The kids even dipped their chips in the dressing once their meals came. The first trip, I had a sandwich with turkey, bacon, cheese, avocado, mayo, lettuce, and tomato. It was a good sandwich, but you could probably get one just as good at other places. The second trip I had a cheeseburger, which was great. Better than another close-by restaurant in Scott who supposedly has great burgers. The real reason to visit Charlotte's is the pie! It was divine, and I sampled several between the two trips. Coconut, chocolate, and lemon icebox. All three were delicious, but the lemon icebox was my favorite! I was sad to see they were not offering that one on my second trip, but the coconut was so good I forgot about missing the other one. All in all, a great meal, but don't be afraid to go just for pie.
