I arrived about 8a, there were 4 other patrons eating together. Quaint place with beach kitsch for ambience. The food was decent, the wait was unbelievable. I ordered a coffee and breakfast burrito and red potatoes. The coffee took 15 minutes for the guy to pour a cup from the already-made coffee and bring it to me. Had to ask for water. Burrito, while good, shouldn't have come out 42m after order. They do a lot of pickup business and that seems to take priority over dine-in customers. Probably will not return unless in a pinch. read more

It smells like a nursing home on the inside.. first thing that put me off a bit. I expected the aroma of breakfast or coffee, anything other than that. I've only eaten breakfast here twice. The first time I went, I dined in. The lady who took my order had the energy of a sloth. No one checked in with me the entire time I dined in. My omelette was super bland but the ingredients were fresh. The second time, I ordered ahead with GrubHub. It said my order would be ready at 8:55. I arrived at 9:05, and it was not. They didn't start making my order until I got there... which completely defeats the purpose of ordering and paying ahead. This time my omelette was SUPER salty. Thankfully GrubHub refunded me so I didn't waste $13 on food that was so salty, it was hardly ingestible (which may have been due to them just throwing my order together in a panic once I arrived, upon realizing they'd overlooked it). I think I'm good on trying again. I hate I didn't have the same experience as others - the place had great reviews for the most part. read more

The food is excellent and the service is pleasant at the Malibu Cafe. The cafe doesn't look like much when you peek in from the sidewalk, but don't let that dissuade you. My lovely bride ordered the croissant with American cheese, scrambled eggs, and bacon, flattened in a panini press, and she inhaled it very quickly. I ordered the breakfast burrito, served with a perfectly spicy salsa. Best of all, freshly squeezed orange juice. Finally, this place is so good, we visited twice for breakfast. In the process he knocked over a glass of orange juice, and knocked a tobacco sauce bottle onto the floor, leading to red sauce everywhere. He made no attempt to clean the floor. This place is a dive with great home cooked food. You walk in, place your order and they bring it to you. You can assume they have staffing issues like many restaurants. I've driven past this diner many times not even noticing it, and wanted to try it on a Saturday evening because of the 5 star comments. They serve their breakfast menu all day, so that also helped me search for their place. It was soooo worth it! I ordered an omelet (veggies, cheese and bacon) along with some hasbrowns. The omelet was perfectly cooked and folded just write, the perfect mix of ingredients. It came with some salsa, and when I started to set it aside, I noticed it looked freshly made. The salsa was wonderful, and I don't usually eat my omelets with salsa. The hasbrowns were properly cooked, but I think I'll ask for them crispy next time (my own preference). Great breakfast place in the heart of Downtown Little Rock. This is a small family run business with a great selection of breakfast favorites at a very good price point. I had the eggs, link sausage and hash browns with French Toast. Eggs we over medium a cooked to perfection. No runny whites but with a soft yoke. Hash browns had enough brown crispy bits with some softer shreds. The French toast was very good but I wish they mentioned the dusting of powdered sugar. I know for some people French toast requires a sprinkling of the white stuff but it's not for me. French toast was still good. Coffee was also good. When I arrived the place was quite with only three tables occupied. After I ordered two large parties arrived which backed up the staff a little but overall the service was good. I did have to go to the counter for a coffee refill. They apologized and brought me a full cup. Overall I would definitely recommend Malibu Cafe and may need to come back and try their lunch menu. read more

We were the first ones there at 830am. You order at the counter. There was a sleepy looking young brunette. She took our order. I read this place was pretty friendly, but we did not witness that. Someone in the back was cooking. One other gentleman came in and ordered 5 minutes later. Then, a family of four came in about ten minutes after we ordered. We saw two plates brought to her up front, and then she turned to take their order. We were confused as to why she would not take the hot food out and then take the order, so I went up later to see if we were supposed to pick up our food too. She said she was supposed to bring it, and I said I might as well take it since I was already there and it had taken a long time for them to place their order and the food was probably now cold. We paid extra for toast, and my husband did not get it so he came back up after she submitted the order and she said "ya I'm gonna take it" so once we were done she brings the unbuttered cold single piece of toast that cost 75 cents extra.
