So we are all about the small, independent, hole in the wall type businesses. Being we are in Little Rock, Arkansas, we had to try something local. Mugs Cafe was a hit for us. I got the Meat Lovers Omelette. Not the everyday omelette. What set this one apart from others was the smoked turkey and the thin, fluffy, crepe like egg that surrounded the meat. The one change for me would've been the potatoes. Although delicious, just a few more onions and peppers would've helped. My wife decided on the biscuit, sausage and cheese sandwich. Fresh made biscuit with the just right cooked egg and sausage made this delicious. Friendly front counter people and just good spirit. Incredibly slow. There were only two people working and the phone rang constantly with DoorDash orders continuing to roll in. We waited in the line inside the store for 15 minutes to be told There was a 20 minute wait on food due to the backup. Given its rush-hour on a weekday, I would advise avoiding this unless you have plenty of spare time, or ordering online prior to heading there. There was one person working up front managing the phone, register and barista work and one in the kitchen. We ended up grabbing coffees and leaving as we didn't have time to wait around on food. read more

Once again, these people can't ever seem to get orders done correctly! I ordered a bagel sandwich with no avocado and fruit instead potatoes. I received potatoes, no fruit and a sandwich with avocado! There was no apology for the errors and I had to request a refund on the avocado charge. Man, mugs is the place on paper that I really would love to go regularly as it's so convenient and the vibe is mine but I only go now to meet people. Seen for over two years to see it consistently is up and down especially for the premium prices they charge. They regularly have closed early completely (outside of normal closings like snow), shut down their kitchen earlier than advertised (says 4pm but came múltiple times and it's closed earlier than that), or run out of most of their food products (i think it's the lack of care more as I remember one time they were out of almost everything and they were overstaffed and couldn't provide something because they were specifically out of turkey. A Kroger is less than 5 minutes walking distance). I'd be more forgiving but they price their drinks higher than most. If you charge almost $5 for a basic drip, you have to deliver like premium places do. Outside of inconsistency with hours and food, taste of coffee and customer service is general middle of the road. Not terrible but doesn't feel like going out of their way. The limited food I've had was good (just took awhile). Over the years seen slight improvements but overall, it's an average place that charges more than it can perform for. Hoping they're able to tightening things up a bit and/or reconsider their pricing strategy soon. Note: it's a smaller insight footprint but has lots of seating, both inside and out. A little loud inside, but has probably the best patio seating on the street. read more

Customer service was pretty bad though, ordered a grilled cheese and a yogurt bowl and it took 20 minutes for it to come out and all of the ladies behind the counter took 5 minutes to notice me and my girlfriend were waiting to order while they were talking about lord knows what. My boyfriend and I walked into this place to not be greeted, and in fact ignored entirely as we walked up to the register counter. There were two girls talking, one who I assume is the cook and the other the cashier/barista chatting as we were awkwardly standing in front of them waiting to be acknowledged at all. Eventually, my boyfriend asked to order and they continued talking as the cashier walked over to the computer. She never said hello. We asked to order a drink off the not one, but two giant display menus that were right in front of the counter only to be told that they are not making them anymore. What's so hard about moving a sign? I'm not sure. Anyway, we ordered our egregiously overpriced Reuben sandwich and French toast and sat down. There was no music so it was kind of awkward, but not a big deal. As we waited, we could audibly hear the girl cooking say "I'm out of that batter." And were later approached about five minutes by the cashier and another woman that I hadn't seen earlier. The cashier had to come up about two feet in front of us to point our table to the woman for her to incredibly awkwardly tell us that they are out of French toast batter. What is French toast batter made of? Heavy cream and eggs? Some sugar and cinnamon maybe? All things that I can 100% guarantee a café has for one purpose or another? All right then. At this point I just wanted to leave so I asked for a refund. We were given a refund for the food (which was $40 for two things, might I add) but not for the drinks that we ordered. We were given our two $8 matchas, which were not prepared properly as they had chunks of matcha powder in them and left. The lids didn't properly fit the cups, and leaked every time we took a sip. To be entirely honest, the matcha at Starbucks is better than what they gave us. Don't waste your time on this place, it's not worth the loan you'll have to take out to get the worst service you could possibly imagine. read more

Mugs is a super cute cafe in Little Rock. I recently made my first visit and was really impressed. It has an airy, industrial vibe and I can see myself coming back here to get some work done. The staff were really friendly and happy to give recommendations on what to order. I enjoyed my breakfast bagel with bacon, egg, and cheese. The gouda was a really nice touch! I also ordered the berries and cream seasonal tea latte. It was supposed to be earl grey with a "splash" of cream. You can see in my photo that they were a little heavy handed with the cream, but otherwise, it was pretty tasty! My friend ordered the breakfast tacos and chai latte and gave both high marks. Mugs got progressively more crowded as we ate, but the workers were still efficiently making and serving orders. It seems to be a popular cafe with lots of hospital workers stopping by after their shift. Overall, Mugs was great and I look forward to coming back to try more of their menu offerings in the future. read more

Blood Mary was less than desirable, should have guessed when I saw staff shuffling to see if they had the ingredients. Cappuccino was served in a go cup even though they have mugs...funny that a place called Mugs served me a go cup. Bacon was burnt to crisp and the eggs were bland. French toast was mediocre. If you're ordering to go, check your order before you leave!! I ordered a latte and a grilled chicken salad to go. When I got back home to Maumelle I realized my order was wrong. They gave me a chicken salad sandwich (I happen to hate chicken salad) with chips. I double checked my receipt and my order was right so something must have been miscommunicated in the kitchen. I would have gone back to the store to get my money back but I have a three month old that needed to nap and the drive was too long so I went ahead and ate it. I've also never been impressed with their service. The people behind the counter have no consideration for peoples time. The service was somewhat speedy but the customer service itself (the attitude, body language, tone of voice, etc...) was probably the worst of all places I visited while in LR. Nestled in the Heights, its a perfect spot for people-watching indoors or outdoors. I knocked off a star due to service. 75% of the time that I'm in there the staff's priority seems to be gossip and their phones. We have waited 20 minutes on just a coffee before. I recommend ordering ahead to avoid this, especially with food, but I also know they don't put their seasonal lattes on the online ordering system. Mugs in heights fills a wonderful void of breakfast restaurants that was needed. Heights has brunch, but only on the weekends and it's specific to their menu. Mugs has pancakes, fresh squeeze orange juice, and a plethora of coffee options. I personally don't go to coffee places to hang out and drink one cup of coffee, so the other reviews talking about decibel levels to "get work done" don't resonate with me. I enjoy the hustle and bustle of an active restaurant - so it's not as bad as other LR Restaurants in town. The food is delicious and unique while being homey. One of my favorite weekend breakfast spots! Mugs truly never disappoints but today's visit was exquisite! The service was so fast and all of the employees were genuine and looked like they enjoyed being there! Boasting indoor and outdoor seating, I relaxed on the outdoor patio and enjoyed the lovely weather the tastiest latte I have ever had!
