I usually check reviews before I go somewhere but this was more a spur of the moment kind of thing. Got there at 6:15pm for a shellac manicure and pedicure and they still did my nail (closes at 7pm on Sundays). One lady did the mani and another did the pedi. Both were very kind and professional. Price and cleanliness are similar to everywhere else in the neighbourhood - nothing positive or negative to say about those. They had very nice shades of pink which I've been finding hard to find recently (try number 99!) So I was pleasantly surprise with that aspect too. The lady also noticed that the manicure had a flaw and redid the last layer of a few nails. I really appreciated that because it was already past 7pm at that point and I probably wouldn't have noticed until I got home. Maybe the trick here is to be their last customer so that they don't rush you to get to the next customer. I'll definitely go there again for my next mani/pedi! read more

I've been a fake nail person for several years and have been around the block (the city actually) getting them done in different areas, this is a good local spot with good prices and consistency. For years I went to Spring Nails down the street but they're always busy (lots of long-term customer loyalty over there) but this hurts the quality of service because they rush through services, especially when they know there are women who come in and spend more money on services..I feel as if they prioritize them. I began having experiences where I wasn't happy with my UV gels depending on which technician I got - they don't all do the same job. Home Nails & Spa always does the best job at shaping and knowing how many coats of polish work for a particular look, I've done a number of different shapes and am now beginning to experiment with some different colour styles. I still recommend that you go into any salon with a photo of what you want if it's unconventional or if it's a newer style of ghetto fab nails and I'm not sure what they're able to do in terms of jewels and glitter and designs because my current work doesn't allow me to do much in that regard. So far the services I've used are manicure, pedicure, UV gel full set, UV gel refill, and colour change. I don't do shellac or gel polish because I get my nail colour changed frequently because I have a short attention span and like to match my mood with my nails but I'll likely try it soon as well. The owner is super nice, and so is his staff! Grab a Sam James Coffee from the pocket next door or a Real Fruit Bubble Tea (other side of Manning) on your way in! Came in at 6pm and there was no one waiting so I was served right away by a guy working at the salon.. should've saw the red signs while another nail salon the street was crazy busy with a one hour wait. I told the guy who was doing my nails for a change in colour only and the guy did a full set charging me $55. The nails came out so uneven that one hand looked like somewhat proper coffin shape while the other looked like fat and round nails. And the lengths of nails were off, most nail salons would compare side by side if they are the same length and shape the guy rapidly did my nails and called it a day. So I really wanted to be impressed with the service here, as its very close to where I live, but I've been in for a shellac manicure twice. Both times, the shellac was lifting and peeling from several nails within five days. My most recent visit had one nail peel up on the side of one nail within two days. I don't know what it is that they are doing wrong, but I've had shellac manicures from several other, slightly more expensive places, and I can typically get at LEAST one week, oftentimes close to two weeks with only growth at the bottom and no peeling. It's a shame because they do have quite a large selection, but however they are doing the application is different than the other places I've been, and it just doesn't last. Sad to say I will only return here if I need shellac removed. read more

This was my first time trying shellac and I found this place to be pretty good! I went Sunday morning around 10:30 am and there was only one other customer. The girls greeted me warmly as I walked in. The shellac lasted for 3 weeks without chipping. I have attached photos from when I first got it done to three weeks later. Also a note, I generally don't like my nails long so I asked her to cut it as short as possible (perhaps not aesthetically appealing for most nail girls :P). Overall, for the price ($30 shellac manicure) and how long it lasts, I found it to be totally worth it. read more

Nope, I will not be returning to this spot. I am new to the Annex and so thought I'd try it out. They were able to take me for a pedicure without an appointment, great. The price was fairly standard for a nail salon of this calibre, $40 for a Shellac pedicure. The staff were not rude, but they seemed kind of hassled that you were there and impatient. The woman working on me was very rough with the tools, actually making me jump in pain and let out an expletive after ramming my nail bed with the cuticle pusher thinga-ma-jobber. And the kicker, my Shellac, which usually lasts three weeks on me (seriously, I climbed a mountain in Peru with a Shellac pedicure inside my hiking boots and it didn't chip a *bit*!), Home Spa Shellac chipped on both big toes in two days. The prices here are great. The atmosphere is alright. The people working here are nice... BUT I felt really rushed. I wanted to come in for a relaxing mani/pedi, and had two people working on me at a break-neck, fast and furious speed. It was hard to chill with two people giving me instructions on where to put my hands and feet and rushing from coat to coat. As a result my toenail polish smudged. I went back the next day and they kindly touched them up for free, but they rushed the coats again and it smudged *again*. They do a rewards system, so every time you visit, you gain a dollar amount that you can use there. Overall, I may go back for a quick/cheap nail job, but it's not a place I'd go to pamper myself. read more

My friend and I visited this place on a slow day; there was only 2 other customers there. My friend was getting Acrylic and I wanted the classic mani&pedi. The shop was fairly clean and bright. I would say the selection of nail polishes was very limited. They carried the standard brands like OPI, ChinaGlaze, and Essie, but I feel like other nail salons I've been to in Toronto had more color selections. This shop also did not have the nail polish palettes. Our experience was very rushed and sloppy. My friend was unhappy with her nails because they came out looking unevenly filed and the design on her accent nail was messy. They completely maimed me. They over charged me $70 for a mani & pedi, with shellack on my finger nails only. They also charged me extra for the razor- which is completely unheard of btw- only to razor off my feet, scrub absolutely nothing & take off all the healthy skin. I had a gash on my left foot that was painful to walk on for three days after that. The manicurist left a nasty gash on my right hand, under my middle finger that split and bled. The shellack chipped after two days, I was so disappointed. Praying their tools were clean & that they didn't give me hepatitis... I will never come back to this place, ever! read more

I've already written a review for this place and I take everything back that I've said. This place is trash, the people working there are trash, and I'm in shock that they are still open because they are the definition of trash. I've been getting gel fills for 3 years, and I've been to numerous other salons so I have a lot of other experiences and services to compare to. So I first came here in mid October and the guy did a decent job, wasn't anything special but nothing too bad to complain about. The second time I came in, I had this amazing women named Stephanie who did a 10/10 job on my nails, talked to me about the products she was using and her advice on how I should continue to get my nails done. I told her that I would be a regular client and we could work together to get my nails in better shape and how to make them strong. I called in advance and specifically said "I would like to make an appointment with Stephanie for a bio gel fill" and the lady on the phone asked when I could come in and I said "well, when is she available?" and she said in half an hour, which was perfect. I walk in exactly in half hour and said "Hi, I have an appointment with Stephanie for a bio gel fill". The women that's always there, who I assumed was the owner, told me to pick a colour and sit down at the chair, and when I sat down she starts taking my nail polish off. I asked where Stephanie was and she starts complaining about how Stephanie didn't show up to work today (HIGHLY unprofessional and so uncomfortable for me because I loved Stephanie) usually I'd be mad because I specifically asked for Stephanie and if she never came in to work, why wouldn't she tell me that Stephanie wasn't there? I would not have came if she told me that. BUT because I assumed she was the owner I figured she couldn't do a bad job. Holy fuck was I wrong. She starts doing a very sloppy job with the drill - barely making anything even and missing spots of my nail. She then shortens my nails with the tip trimmer on the nails that still have my real nail underneath causing some of the nails to crack and I kept telling her to be careful. I had 3 nails that broke and she had to put tips on, and she put the tips so far from my nail bed that the fake nail doesn't curve around and look natural on my nail. She never asked what shape I wanted, only started filing so I told her I wanted ballerina and she never answered so I said "like a narrow shape with a flat top"... still doesn't answer. She made every single nail a different shape and length and one nail is SO uneven that it physically pains me to look at it. This is when I knew that everything was going to shit and I knew I was going to call her out because it was just ridiculous. We discussed not doing bio gel and that I was going to do UV gel instead - and I specifically said "the powder UV gel" and she agreed. She ONLY put the powder UV gel on the 3 nails that broke and a bunch of other sketchy looking products that I have never seen before. One of the products had a huge warning label that threw me off so I asked before she put it on what it was, and all she said was "uhh.. it's or the fill". YEAH thanks that's not what I asked, but go right ahead and fuck up my nails some more. As she was putting on the top coat I asked "are you the owner?" and she goes "no, I'm the manager" and I said "I've been getting my nails filled for 3 years and this has to be the worst service I've ever received" and then she stops and looks at me and I continued to tell her why I felt she didn't do a good job in the nicest way possible, but she was taking everything so wrong. She then grabbed my hand aggressively and held it up to another customer that was innocently sitting there and goes "does this look like a bad job?" and I ripped my hand from her grasp and said to not bring other customers into our discussion and that it has nothing to do with her. She told me that she was "learning how to do nails" and that's when I got mad. Excuse me? You're learning how to do nails? As the manager of a nail salon? Right when she said that I was like "then how are you the manager..?" and she told me that I was hurting her feelings and she was yelling and causing a scene in her own store. I apologized and said I'm just speaking as someone who got treated badly in this establishment, and I don't feel I should pay full price (because she did use products on me and take up her time on me, so I wanted to at least pay something). I should've checked reviews before I entered this place. Absolutely terrible. If I could give negative stars I would. I went in here for a shellac manicure. 1. Finger got cut when she was doing the cuticles. 2. She didn't bother shaping any of my nails. 3. Start to finish took 10-15mins- both hands as if she was in a huge rush (there wasn't anyone waiting and another nail technician was free). 4. This is probably the first time in my life I could say with confidence that I could've done a better job. The polish covered my cuticles, nail fold, as well as the side of the nail on my skin. Extremely uneven and bumpy coats as well. 5. Nail technician had long nails that dug into my skin as she worked. One hand was left with temporary dents in my skin where her nails were. 6. Terrible attitude. Every time she rushed through a coat of polish, she wouldn't even tell me to put my hand in the UV lights, she would just flick her head at it while instantly working on the next hand. The moment the top coat was "done" she immediately pulled her phone out. 7. Today was a rainy day. She dropped the towel for my hand on the ground, picked it up, and proceeded to wipe my hands with it. No such thing as sanitation in here. The moment I left this place, I instantly went to wash my hands. I'm a rather introverted person, so the only things I said the entire time was hello and which colour I wanted at the start. But with the way the nail technician was acting, I almost thought there was some kind of blood feud between us. The entire experience is almost laughable. To anyone thinking of this place, please don't. I came here after an amazing experience at GOA Hair Salon (got hair dyed) and this place completely ruined my night. If the nail technician is reading this, I hope whatever is bothering you goes away and you cheer up. Wondering if all the reviews here are accurate as this place is amazing. There might be confusion with Spring Nails which is further east & closer to Euclid and is horrible. Their polish doesn't even last a week, they don't speak English & you are RUSHED. Home Nails usually has husband and wife and a young girl working noone else. Very close & just east of Christie Subway station & close to Green P Parking on Clinton. The best is that they both speak & understand English. Lawrence is amazing. Articulate and his manicures last forever. Six weeks later gel polish is still on and only reason I have to go back is to redo them because of nail growth. High quality nail products, super clean and usually takes 15 minutes for them to remove the old polish that's how good it sticks around. If your nails are natural & crack for $3.00 extra they fix them. Best place I have been to for manicure for someone with long natural nails and they shape & file them just like I ask them to. read more

I had one pleasant experience at this salon but unfortunately my second experience was less than ideal. I went in asking for a manicure and was told to take a seat without being told how long I would have to wait. After 20 minutes the technician prepared to remove my shellac but didn't get as far as putting the cotton balls on my nails. He got up and left me there for 40 minutes. I sat there and watched three people get served before me before someone finally bothered to ask me what colour I wanted. At that point I was fed up and left after my shellac was taken off, but not before my nails were very poorly filed. They even had the nerve to charge me after all this. Had I been told how long I had to wait or even had someone come and apologize for the long wait I may have stayed, but I felt completely disrespected and I'm so annoyed by the quality of service I received at this salon. UNBELIEVABLY bad Shellac. Went on Saturday and it is now Wednesday - nails are chipping like crazy. My normal shellac manicures last two weeks and I experience no chips despite the fact that I type all day, go to the gym, etc. Additionally, they were completely incompetent at removing my old shellac -- my usual place uses the standard cotton ball/foil method and gets it off in one try. This place uses little plastic/rubber thimbles with a tiny scrap of cotton ball shoved in there. Unsurprisingly, it took 3 attempts using this method before the manicurist settled for filing the rest of the shellac off my fingers. This should have been my warning sign to leave. I popped in here on a whim because it was on my way home. I will never visit this salon again and will warn my friends away. Complete waste of money. I get shellac manicures so I don't have to worry about my nails chipping or looking unprofessional at my job or in a meeting. Now I know I will have to have this shellac taken off this weekend, rather than not worrying about it for the next two weeks, and must be aware throughout the week that it could be chipping or peeling at any time. If I wanted that result, I would have just painted them with normal polish myself. read more

Great service, skill, and colour selection for shellac. I haven't had to get my nails redone until they grow out too much, save for when I'm bartending or otherwise being abusive of my nails. I came here for a manicure and to get a design. I chose a black and pink design that had a bow from one of the display options. The first girl that helped me couldn't do it so another girl took over. She looked really confused and attempted the design. Thankfully she asked if I liked it because it didn't turn out like the display. I was fine with just getting a manicure. But then the male who was helping two other girls get their acrylic nails immediately rushed to my side and rushed the design. He then made me wait 40 minutes because the other girls were upset that he left abruptly. The design he did was awful, the now was way off centre. Then he asked if I wanted a jewel in the centre of the now to make it look better so I said ok. They made me wait another 30 minutes. The two other staff just waited around observing the male's work. After they finally placed the jewel on my nails and sprayed it it ended up looking awful. In addition, the manicure didn't last because the nail polish they used was really old. It scraped off (not chipped) the next day. So I was at the salon for a total of 2 hours for results that fell very short of even mediocre standards. I went here about a week ago for a pedicure and found the service to be decent and the experience good overall. However, the very next day my big toe began throbbing and was very red and sore. I cleaned it with peroxide and slathered polysporin all over it for a week and it did not improve. I went to the doctor today and am now on antibiotics. Avoid this place at all costs! read more
