I've been a fake nail person for several years and have been around the block (the city actually) getting them done in different areas, this is a good local spot with good prices and consistency. For years I went to Spring Nails down the street but they're always busy (lots of long-term customer loyalty over there) but this hurts the quality of service because they rush through services, especially when they know there are women who come in and spend more money on services..I feel as if they prioritize them. I began having experiences where I wasn't happy with my UV gels depending on which technician I got - they don't all do the same job. Home Nails & Spa always does the best job at shaping and knowing how many coats of polish work for a particular look, I've done a number of different shapes and am now beginning to experiment with some different colour styles. I still recommend that you go into any salon with a photo of what you want if it's unconventional or if it's a newer style of ghetto fab nails and I'm not sure what they're able to do in terms of jewels and glitter and designs because my current work doesn't allow me to do much in that regard. So far the services I've used are manicure, pedicure, UV gel full set, UV gel refill, and colour change. I don't do shellac or gel polish because I get my nail colour changed frequently because I have a short attention span and like to match my mood with my nails but I'll likely try it soon as well. The owner is super nice, and so is his staff! Grab a Sam James Coffee from the pocket next door or a Real Fruit Bubble Tea (other side of Manning) on your way in! I've yet to try other services, but I likely will in the near future!

I go to this Nail salon every two or three weeks! I always get my nails Done by Angela! She is the bomb and ALWAYS does a good job! I get bio Gel and shellac over it. BIO GEL HAS CHANGED MY LIFE! My Nails never chip or break! They are long and healthy! also the only man that works there is really good as well! My fave nail joint at the moment

Today I did this beautiful menicure in my own nails. They are just amazing staff and nice salon

This is just an amazing place to do menicure and pedicure. I have been there two times and I'm keep going again and again I referred this salon to my friends too. The best salon in old Toronto Area.

Definitely not coffin... this is 2 weeks after getting my nails done

Came in at 6pm and there was no one waiting so I was served right away by a guy working at the salon.. should've saw the red signs while another nail salon the street was crazy busy with a one hour wait. I told the guy who was doing my nails for a change in colour only and the guy did a full set charging me $55. The nails came out so uneven that one hand looked like somewhat proper coffin shape while the other looked like fat and round nails. And the lengths of nails were off, most nail salons would compare side by side if they are the same length and shape the guy rapidly did my nails and called it a day. Never going back again..

Got my nails cut really short because that's how I like them. This is my shellac manicure on the first day.

This was my first time trying shellac and I found this place to be pretty good! I went Sunday morning around 10:30 am and there was only one other customer. The girls greeted me warmly as I walked in. The shellac lasted for 3 weeks without chipping. I have attached photos from when I first got it done to three weeks later. Also a note, I generally don't like my nails long so I asked her to cut it as short as possible (perhaps not aesthetically appealing for most nail girls :P). Overall, for the price ($30 shellac manicure) and how long it lasts, I found it to be totally worth it.

Shellac pedicure (which usually lasts three weeks) chipped after two days. Boooooo.

What stands out is that the facilities are state of the art. The Dead Sea salt pool even has massage water jets, and the water quality is tested several times a day. I personally saw a staff member testing the water quality! This is great for anyone with a cleanliness obsession. Two final points: this is a women-only space, and phones are not allowed. The photos I've shared are from the official website, which maintains a high level of privacy. The service is excellent and the place is incredibly clean! The supposed "hot" pool was not warmer than my hottub at home that we keep at 104, so must've only been around 101 my guess. And yes, the 2 other women that were there were chatting up a storm, so not your relaxing, spa type environment. The staff, though, were very kind and helpful. I'm so glad I was able to do two sessions here and honestly, I think about this place every day. The guides here are so special. The concept of other ship is contrast therapy: there is sauna, and cold plunge. But it's unlike any contrast therapy I've done. It's a 75 minute class where you go in and your swimsuit and it's coed. You take part in a version of Aufguss - a sauna where they break balls of ice infused with delicious essential oils. I took a Gacha class where you do lymphatic drainage and then I also took a heart opener class. They also have free flow where there's no guide. The cold plunge is really special - you get paired up but if the class is small you can go alone. I've cold plunged a lot, and this experience transformed me. I was able to stay really, really calm and have a euphoric experience. The guides also use a tuning fork after the cold plunge to get you to calm the nervous system. The shower and changing room is not ideal for anyone that wants to go about their day after the experience but other than that, I wish I lived in Toronto to do this daily. The staff is also super friendly. They gave me their signature incense for my first visit. I love, love this place.

It's not just a sauna and ice bath facility, but a place that fosters community and inclusivity and a sanctuary for when you need to get away from the stresses of life (or when you need to relieve all that stress). The facility and it's staff, along with other participants, provides a safe and welcoming space for you to let go and look inward where you feel like a completely different person once you finish your session or class. I have always been interested to try Othership but was afraid to take the first step. I was able to try one of their guided classes recently as I received a free credit. I booked a deep stretch guided class around noon mid-week. Not knowing what to expect I went in with an open mind, allowing myself to explore and be curious about the experience, as well as try new things. Prior to the class, I probably was most anxious about the cold plunge part of the class. Upon entering Othership, you are greeted by staff where you are checked in. I did tell staff it was my first time there and they gave me a tour of the space. I was also given a wristband to wear, indicating that I was a first timer there - this is done so that it is easier for the instructor to identify the newcomers in the group, just in case we needed extra guidance or direction. Facility wise, Othership is a nice sanctuary in the city. The changerooms aren't terribly big but they do have private change rooms you can utilize. There are lockers you can store your belongings and shoes are not allowed in the sauna/cold plunge area. They provide you with 2 towels and there is tea as well as water (and cups) available. The bathrooms are at the very back past the cold plunge area. In regards to my class, we were able to settle in and the instructor explained the guided class and what we would be doing as we settled on the couches. She was aware that many of us were first timers in the class, knowing that we would be anxious about the cold plunge. She told us to embrace our own journey, with the understanding that everyone is starting at different places with different levels of experience. This pre-class talk was quite reassuring and I felt a sense of comfort sharing this experience with others, knowing that we were in this together. In the guided deep stretch class, we were first in the sauna for about 25-30 min where we did a series of breathwork and stretching, focusing on different parts of our body. The sauna was quite hot after a while and I was dripping sweat but the focus on the breath was a key factor in managing how I was feeling and the heat. After the sauna we were split into 2 groups where we did the cold plunge for 2 min (prior to the plunge you have to rinse off your body using the communal showers). I was so nervous about this part of the class but I was able to stay submerged for the whole 2 min. Having a focus on your breathwork was crucial. After the cold plunge we all gathered in the sauna again where we did several more breathworks and had a sharing portion to the class where we could talk about our experience if we wanted to. Last 15 min of class we were invited to do another cold plunge, stay in the sauna, or relax and drink tea/water. Overall, I had an amazing first experience at Othership. Will definitely return to try more guided classes in the future!

They do not offer slippers so bring your own if you prefer them. I found the saunas hot enough as I have a low heat tolerance. The cold bucket plunge was also refreshing after the sauna. The cold plunge is a well that states a one person limit, though many people went in with 2-3 people at a time. The entire atmosphere reminds you of a cottage getaway. Afterward, we went to the dining area where they offer complimentary tea at the cutest tea station. They also make homemade kombucha and offer pickle vodka shots. We ordered the borsht, cabbage rolls, dumplings, herring, and the sourdough pancakes. Right off the bat, everything was delicious. The borsht was probably one of the best I've ever tasted, especially with the sour cream and the tanginess of the broth. The cabbage rolls were juicy and seasoned well, the sourdough pancakes tasted like fried dough and had a rich buttery flavour as opposed to the sweet, cakiness you would expect from a pancake. But the most surprising was the herring, which came with pickled cabbage on top and was incredibly tasty. Definitely give this a try if you visit. The drinks were also made strong, despite the low price ($11-15 for a cocktail). We all agreed that we should return just for the food alone!

Scrubs are five dollars for purchase which actually is kinda crazy considering the size but I came for the full experience so you bet I bought one for the steam room. The sauna and steam rooms were INSANELY hot and the cold plunge was INSANELY cold. It was FANTASTIC lol! It was so foggy in the steam room I literally could barely see anyone else and my nostrils were burning from the heat. The water in the pool was nice and cold though and really helped keep cool in there. The larger sauna was super relaxing temperature wise and more for chilling out. If the cold plunge was too extreme there was also a chain and bucket that release cold water that was not nearly as freezing. There was a lovely cozy rest area with dim lights and a tv and in the nook of the dining area a plethora of stunning herbal, aromatic and fruity teas. As for the food itself, AWESOME. There were plenty of options for me as someone who only eats halal meat and has to otherwise be vegetarian or pescatarian in the event meat is not halal. I had potato pelmeni and the bowl was LOADED. I was in absolute BLISS. The mushroom julienne was a pool of cheese, cream and mushrooms, what was there not to like there??? The bread was the only meh part of it all. The sour cream cake was lovely and fluffy. Very homemade vibes. I loved the experience and would absolutely come back again!

It is like meditating in the sense that it takes practice to calm your mind even when you're in complete darkness. It was a cool experience overall and i'd do it again every few months when I need a little reset. I felt weightless! The staff are super friendly & explained everything to me. She was very patient. I love that each floating cabin has their own private room, shower etc. There's a communal area to dry your hair. They have lotion, leave-in conditioner, deodorant, robes, ear plugs, slippers etc. You literally only need to bring yourself. You don't even need a bathing suit because they encourage to go in nude. The pod had a nice calming purple-blue light & relaxing music. You can adjust the music volume but not the lighting, it's either on or off. You can leave the door open if you feel claustrophobic but I didn't feel that way. The temperature was warm (both air and water) after the first 5 minutes. When you first enter the water, you're still adjusting and it was my abdomen that was cold as it was above the surface. I'd just gently wave water over it when I got too cool for comfort. But after that initial phase, I wasn't cold at all. It was very clean inside the private rooms although I did book the first spot in the morning. Tips: Please read the instructions before you book! You can't shave within 24 hours, I'd wait an extra day more if you have sensitive skin. The salt is sooooo concentrated that all your cuts will burn. They do provide petroleum jelly as a barrier in case you do have micro cut or sensitive areas. 2) Salt water will burn your eyes. So be careful not to lift your head out of the water without closing your eyes (just in case some water trickles down your forehead). They give you a spray bottle with fresh water and a towel inside the cabin just in case this happens. It happened 3 times to me lol and it's effective. 3) Ear plugs if you don't want salt water in your ear. They were effective. I didn't get any water in. There's a vinegar rinse you spray into your ear to help rinse off the salt. 4) Relax. Be open to the experience. Be patient with yourself and your racing thoughts.
