Apartment unit at 1522 Hi Point St 9 at 90035 needs unit intercom repair or replacement; striping at parking stall #8 needs extension to create tandem parking stall; kitchen sink hot water line not operating as intended. With the exception of the kitchen sink, repairs have been pending since 2014. Kitchen sink repair has been pending over 35 days. This company only recently came on the scene but they work for Power Property Management Inc and Hi Point 1522 LLC and BoldPartners. They do not respect tenant rights and civil code section 1954. Such code gives the landlord the right to enter under certain circumstances and by giving written 24 hour notice. Whenever I as tenant (GJ) make a request for repairs, I always cite CC 1954 and ask for written notice as well as tell city housing to get the access from the owner or resident manager. Then from the owner, city, and Home Improvement Services I get a slew of calls (CYA) from 213-252-2875 (LAHD), 310-996-1727 (LAHD), 818-219-1587 (owner), 310-593-3955 (Power), 310-499-2808 (Power), 310-499-2808 (Power). They ignore their obligations under Civil Code 1954. The tenant has no liability to be present for inspection or repairs as that would disturb peaceful enjoyment. The owner and agents are named in numerous city harassment complaints as this is harassment. A tenant can waive their right to 24 hour written notice; they have adequate notice and disregard my good faith requests that I have NOT waived my rights. They keep harassing me with the phone calls. Their notices to enter often do not give the approximate time they will enter. They have no intention of repairing the unit intercom, no intention of providing the smart phone and internet to use the Akuvox, no intention of providing tandem parking. Home Improvement Services left sewage in our garage after replacing a pipe. They had attempted to clean it up but their efforts were totally insufficient as there was clearly sewage remaining. To their credit, they communicated with me after business hours and sent someone out the next day to clean it up, but that attempt was also insufficient as sewage still remained. It wasn't until three days later when they hydrojetted and cleaned the garage more thoroughly that the stench was gone. During the hours between them leaving this mess and me getting home, noticing there was a problem and posting warnings around the building, people had already walked through the mess and tracked it throughout the building. Consequently, some of the homeowners requested that HIS pay for carpet cleaning for those affected. They rejected that request and refused to make any apologies or offer any reparations for the unsanitary and revolting conditions they left us. We will not hire them again and would definitely not recommend them. read more

I'm sorry to say that these guys don't stand behind their work. I payed over $200 for two leaking toilets, fix did not work. I called them a few days later, they came out again to address the issue. After two weeks it started leaking again from time to time. I had no time to deal with it at the time. It got worse, so 2.5 months after the original fix I called them again. I was told that they only guarantee their work for 2 months, so I would have to pay again. It's the same problem and they don't care about the customer. Rip off artists. read more

My parents used this company for services they needed for their business, they were asked to do a camera inspection w/cd, they not only did not provide a cd, they claimed other things needed to be done that did not, this was concluded through a second opinion. They attempted to upcharge for services that simply were not necessary, they claimed that the pipes were damaged, and needed a hydro jet, the second opinion showed that pipes were in perfect working condition, and did not need additional work. Not only was the second opinion less expensive but most important it was honest. This company is unknowledgeable, unprofessional, and maintains shady business practices. They are nice enough people over the phone - but that's the problem. They will NOT STOP CALLING the property management company I work for to solicit business. We have told them nicely, then very directly, then not quite as nicely - no dice. The calls continue. It smacks of desperation and frankly, it's not professional. The volume of calls and the lack of basic common sense to abide by it when someone says "No thank you, please stop calling." have ensured that we will never give them a try. YMMV. read more

Great experience! We live in a 2 story town home, and I saw bubbling and dripping of water from my kitchen ceiling that is right under the master bathroom. I highly recommend these guys. Here's why: I just moved in a new house about 3 weeks ago. Last Monday, it looked like we had a clog in the master bathroom. We tried to fix it, but it didn't work. It was late at night, so I let it go and thought I'd call someone the next day to come and fix it. I went to take a shower in the other bathroom, and the other bathroom started flooding. I looked for emergency plumbing services online and found these guys. It was 11 pm, and they send they'd send someone in 30-45 minutes. They guys (Yuri and another guy) showed up 20 minuted later. They found the problem and said they'd use their snake to unclog the pipe. They worked for almost an hour, but it looked like the pipes were turning around and were angled down, so their 75 yard snake was not long enough. They did a temporary fix (opened an outlet in the back yard so the water would get out of that outlet) and left. They came back the day after (Tuesday) with a longer snake, but it turned out that the problem was a broken pipe, not a clog. On Thursday, David, another guy from their company came back with a camera to find where the pipe was broken. He actually had to use something like a meta detector to find it. He came back early on Friday to do another temporary fix so they could come and replace the broken portion of the pipe a week later. On Saturday, we found that the temporary fix didn't work. We called them, and David, Gary and their crew came on 9 am Sunday morning. They made sure they didn't make any noise that would bother the neighbors and worked for almost 7 hours, but the found the pipe (you can see the picture) and replaced it for me. A tree branch had got in the pipe who knows how many years ago, grown in there and broke the pipe. They saved me a lot of trouble. They were very professional, cleaned up everything before they left, and restored my front yard to what it looked like before. read more

2.5 Stars. Have used them for rentals. The good: The work they do is quite good, and for the most part they clean up after themselves. Their prices are reasonable, not high but not a bargain either and somewhat reliable. The bad: Sometimes they will do work that is not actually needed. A couple of examples, replaced main drain line sections when it was not needed! Really bad. Also, they tend to replace instead of repair (rebuild) faucets. On at least two occasions. Had a nice Moen single handle, claimed leaking from the body and needed to be replaced but it just needed the repair kit $15.00 maximum in parts. Do not go with this company. The manager was very inconsistent with the explanation of services needed to fix my gas problem. Told me it was a code violation and that my home warrantee would not cover any violation work. Well I called the city building and safety, gas company and other professionals and they said my gas line was completely within code. Well because Home Improvement Services told the warrantee company that it was a code fix, they (warrantee company) wouldn't cover it. I felt like this was a ploy to get funded faster through me than wait for a warrantee company check. Well work was done but don't trust what they have to say. This is the WORST company I have ever dealt with. We were referred to them by Fidelity Home Warranty. They scheduled an appointment with us and didn't bring the right equipment even though we called three times to confirm with them. We then tried calling the customer service to let them know that they needed to send someone with equipment and they hung up on us three times. They only picked up when we called from an unidentified number. They then told us that they already completed the work order and that we would need to talk to Fidelity. TOTAL FRAUD AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have reported them to both Fidelity and the California Better Business Bureau. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Home Improvement Service, DBA as HIS, was engaged by my property management company to handle four plumbing problems over a period of a few months. The quality of their work was quite acceptable, and usually they did show up when scheduled. However I have down rated them because the amount billed for their services appears to be at least 50% more than I have paid licensed plumbers to perform in the past. In one case, they replaced three angle stops at the same location during the same visit; it appears that I was billed as if they had made three separate visits to replace those angle stops. In another case, dividing the amount billed by the time spent on the job site worked out to $193/hour for each of two hours. Even if one assumes that the first $75 is for just showing up, that is still over $150/hour for the plumber. When I questioned their billing, they insisted I was billed normal "discounted" rates. read more

There were assigned to me for a few problems at different properties I own. Each time they were either incompetent, diagnosed the problem incorrectly and I needed a second opinion in order for the warranty company to cover the repair. On occasion, they actually told the warranty company that a part was missing and they would need me to pay them to install that part, as the warranty company doesn't cover missing parts. However, my contractor confirmed that the part had been there all along. In spite of the extra inconvenience, I jump through hoops now to get the warranty company to send another plumber, because of Home Improvement Services incompetence and dishonesty. read more

My fridge went out so I called a local company (Gardena appliances) to come and check it out..It was a couple issues a part needed to be replaced(forgot which part) as well as a freon leak and then refill the freon. Myrna and her husband gave a reasonable quote I told them I would contact them after reviewing the issue with my wife. I then remembered that we had a contract with fidelity home warranty and decided on contacting them. They referred me to this company they came out rather promptly, i believe tony was my technician. He was concise and direct to the point with his words. I asked him about the fridge; he said he had to replace a part and refill freon. I responded well if the freon is empty is because it emptied out through somewhere I asked him how was he going to find the hole and repair it. We went back and forth on the subject and he assured me it will work for years. I asked him if I can trust him to work on his own and I will leave to work. I did he locked the door behind him and left the house intact. I came home from work to a fully functional fridge. AWESOME! short lived joy on the 93rd day my fridge broke I contacted fidelity I was over my 90 day warranty for parts and labor.. blah blah.. After a few phone calls they where willing to waive the 3rd day. I was told HIS would contact me. no contact I called them they where not in a hurry with me. I called 3 times every time Gale would tell me shes working on scheduling some thing for me. I called a final time around 4:35 and was told the office was closed to not call back until after 9am. closest window they offered was Saturday, It was Tuesday UNACCEPTABLE I SAID! they send a technician on weds. I had to leave for work so my wife was home she attempted to ask the technician some questions and he was really short and rude. She called me at work, I stepped out of work to call HIS the person on the phone was slightly confrontational in regards to the matter then he claimed that he was doing us a favor. Why is no stars not an option?? Do not use this company. We were just another unit in a building where a leak was discovered & we went out of our way to assist, allowing access to our unit to their plumber at 11pm on a Monday night - who was very rude & treated as like idiots - and he could find no evidence of a leak originating from our unit. He followed us in after work the next day & was again rude & saying it HAD to be our problem. We allowed him to turn off our filter tap & ice maker for 2 days to see if this helped. Four days later I was calling the company asking if the problem had been solved, could they determine if the leak was from our fridge. First call I was told the plumber didn't touch anything in our unit & that I was wrong. I debated that with Zuma & she said she would ask the plumber again & call me back. I call back after 5 hours because I still hadn't heard back & the first words out of Zuma were 'did you fix your fridge yet?'. I advised it had not been determined that the issue was our fridge as no one had got back to us & this went on for a while until I determined they hadn't even followed up with the leaking unit owners who had hired them to find out if the leak was still there. After cutting holes in their ceiling. Again I was told they would contact the other unit & sort it out with them & call me back. We leave it another few days then ask the unit owners & they still have not heard anything from the company. We contact our landlord to request another plumber to come out to our unit to check it over & see if the issue originates within our unit. After another 2 days I call HIS just to speak to the owner to make a complaint & I am again told all the untrue 'facts' given to them by their plumber, this time by Julia. Again I say I just want to speak to the boss, I'm told someone will call me back. This time they do, but it's Julia again and she says the plumber advised us it was definitely our fridge (he did not) & that he showed me a leak (he did not as there is NO water leakage from the fridge & he could not move the fridge on his own to show me anything!). I asked again to speak to the owner & was advised I don't need to speak to him as they have already told me what I need to do.... We are putting a request through to the HOA that this company not be allowed entry into the building again for any other jobs & we certainly will not allow them admittance to our unit again. We have also advised the unit downstairs who hired them & as they had not heard back from them, they are not happy with them either. Don't put yourself through the stress! read more
