We have always been happy with our purchases, which is why this experience was so shocking. Recently, I bought a bracelet and a chain as gifts for my mom. Unfortunately, she didn't really like them, so for the first time ever I needed to make a return. The employee was rude from the beginning. She first said she would "let it go this time," but then suddenly changed her mind and refused to process the return, claiming that the tags "didn't look right." The items were in their original condition, and this explanation made no sense. The items were not very expensive, but that should never determine how a customer is treated. After years of shopping at Macy's and spending thousands of dollars, I expected respect and professional customer service, not hostility and accusations. This experience was extremely disappointing and has seriously changed my opinion of Macy's. I hope management addresses this issue so that other loyal customers are treated with the respect they deserve.

This is my experience at the Returns counter in the Stamford, CT store. The lady at the desk is the…read morerudest person ever to be dealing with any customer. Couple of months ago, I saw her misbehaving and arguing with a customer when he was trying to return an item. At that time I didnt think any CS personnel would behave like this to anyone, rather they would go to the extent of understanding the problem. Then I got a first hand experience yesterday, she was aloof, not engaging and lecturing to the extent of ordering around. All I wanted was to return few items alongwith the tags, but she was venting at how the tag is not at the right place, it should be like this, it should be like that etc. And it was not once, every item she picked, she lectured me over and over and when I said, I know you mentioned it before, she flared and told me she will keep telling it. I really wonder if Macy's is really looking at how its customers are being treated, are they given benefit of the doubt, are they being pleasantly and politely addressed, are their needs considered - there's an intention to help and there's what you want me to do about it attitude - and sadly with this lady, its the later. Stamford store should really name this desk from "Customer Service" to "Customer Up yours" department.

This is my first review of a retail store, due to the terrible experience today. My wife and I's…read moreanniversary is coming up, and I wanted to gift her a new fragrance. She is very particular - cold smoke, some spice but not too much, cold woods, etc. However, she really liked this one shampoo with a baobab fragrance, and the closest thing was Bal d'Afrique by Byredo - to my delight, it was in stock here! We let the customer service woman know what we were looking for, but she insisted we try more things. They did not fit the brief of what my wife likes. We stated multiple times, NO florals, NO heavy sweetness, NO musk & referenced her preferences. The customer service agents we saw didn't seem to understand fragrance, and only how to deal with the typical mall shopper's preferences & trying to upsell us on more expensive perfume. The last woman we saw at the Jones No 9 counter (presumably the manager) was very rude and abrasive. She demanded "what budget are you working with, seriously", almost sounding as if she was yelling at us and just wanted to close a deal. I told her I simply wanted to find something my wife would like, and she said "you have to have a budget". Then she presented us with a woody fragrance that my wife did not like. She then tells us that "there's nothing sweet in the there, only woods", meanwhile there was amber in there and we have studied a lot on different types of fragrances. The customer service agents were incompetent, since they don't actually know what notes we are looking for and overwhelming us with different scents and getting upset that we didn't like them. I know they make a commission, so it felt like they were trying to take their anger out on us for not wanting anything and insinuating that we weren't there to make a purchase. Due to the poor service, I would not want to buy anything from these people in the future and would go to another location.

So I got excited and planned a trip to the garden shop for June to recreate on some minute scale what the Walmart family's private landscapers had brilliantly created. The garden department was worse than nada or bad or non existent. What little plants had life left were dying and decaying with foul odor-Omg it was so sad.
