We have always been happy with our purchases, which is why this experience was so shocking. Recently, I bought a bracelet and a chain as gifts for my mom. Unfortunately, she didn't really like them, so for the first time ever I needed to make a return. The employee was rude from the beginning. She first said she would "let it go this time," but then suddenly changed her mind and refused to process the return, claiming that the tags "didn't look right." The items were in their original condition, and this explanation made no sense. The items were not very expensive, but that should never determine how a customer is treated. After years of shopping at Macy's and spending thousands of dollars, I expected respect and professional customer service, not hostility and accusations. This experience was extremely disappointing and has seriously changed my opinion of Macy's. I hope management addresses this issue so that other loyal customers are treated with the respect they deserve.

We let the customer service woman know what we were looking for, but she insisted we try more things. They did not fit the brief of what my wife likes. We stated multiple times, NO florals, NO heavy sweetness, NO musk & referenced her preferences. The customer service agents we saw didn't seem to understand fragrance, and only how to deal with the typical mall shopper's preferences & trying to upsell us on more expensive perfume. The last woman we saw at the Jones No 9 counter (presumably the manager) was very rude and abrasive. She demanded "what budget are you working with, seriously", almost sounding as if she was yelling at us and just wanted to close a deal. I told her I simply wanted to find something my wife would like, and she said "you have to have a budget". Then she presented us with a woody fragrance that my wife did not like. She then tells us that "there's nothing sweet in the there, only woods", meanwhile there was amber in there and we have studied a lot on different types of fragrances. The customer service agents were incompetent, since they don't actually know what notes we are looking for and overwhelming us with different scents and getting upset that we didn't like them. I know they make a commission, so it felt like they were trying to take their anger out on us for not wanting anything and insinuating that we weren't there to make a purchase. Due to the poor service, I would not want to buy anything from these people in the future and would go to another location.
