This is my experience at the Returns counter in the Stamford, CT store. The lady at the desk is the rudest person ever to be dealing with any customer. Couple of months ago, I saw her misbehaving and arguing with a customer when he was trying to return an item. At that time I didnt think any CS personnel would behave like this to anyone, rather they would go to the extent of understanding the problem. Then I got a first hand experience yesterday, she was aloof, not engaging and lecturing to the extent of ordering around. All I wanted was to return few items alongwith the tags, but she was venting at how the tag is not at the right place, it should be like this, it should be like that etc. And it was not once, every item she picked, she lectured me over and over and when I said, I know you mentioned it before, she flared and told me she will keep telling it. I really wonder if Macy's is really looking at how its customers are being treated, are they given benefit of the doubt, are they being pleasantly and politely addressed, are their needs considered - there's an intention to help and there's what you want me to do about it attitude - and sadly with this lady, its the later. Stamford store should really name this desk from "Customer Service" to "Customer Up yours" department. read more

After not so great the past experiences I decided to come here again. The store is definitely getting better and the customer service is becoming good. Are used to come here a lot and never got the good service and in general the store wasn't great but seems like it's getting better. I am going to start coming shopping here again hopefully things will get better and better. I really love Macy's and think the stores are great for different things you can choose from I like that you can find many things in the one roof makes things so easier when you buying different items. read more

Pleasantly different to shop here. Macy's has levels 4 and 5 all to themselves here. Nice selection of medium-end designer duds and accessories- typical of Macy's. I would've liked my first stop to be at their shoe and bag department- but I kept it moving real quick to furniture. (I can't recall- the person's name so for now, she'll be referred as 'She'). I was on a mission and a pleasant sales representative directed me to their Furniture Department. She took the lead and got the ball rolling in helping me with my purchase. She had the charisma and greatest patience for all my endless questions in terms of color, size and fabric. Her shift came to an end, and Jack took over; where he efficiently, finalized our purchase and made arrangements for the couch to be delivered in a timely fashion. Again, no complaints from Jack. Customer service here, was excellent and nothing, like I would've received in White Plains (or in Yonkers' Cross County Center). Folks here, had a genuine smile and a will to assist. I was digging that! Their furniture department is not huge in any way, but has a nice selection of different wood types, funky end tables, leather and micro-fiber couches, cool dresser solutions, rustic dining furniture and unique, decorative accessories, that I haven't seen (in Macy's at The Galleria!). Macy's furniture selection rotates seasonally, so expect to find a nice mix in variety. All I know is, if I want my home to sparkle in a different and unique way, this will be part of my other, home decorating destinations. read more

When I asked her to assist us and hand the garment to my wife she told me this wasn't her job. If I can expect this level of customer service and harassment here, then I would rather go somewhere else and pay more money than come back here ever again. read more

Probably the worst Macy's I've been to. It continues to shock me that Stamford has such sub par retail locations. It's constantly a mess, especially the clothes. The employees are slow, there is always a wait to check out because someone is confused about something and can't figure out how to process an order or moving like molasses. It's truly amazing how so many of the employees are so slow and lack so much knowledge about the store itself, what they carry, how to process returns, Macy's own rewards programs, etc. read more

Honestly, be careful about what you buy here. It used to be a great place to shop until the Backstage area popped up, and now the selection's not really that great. The Backstage portion is pretty mediocre too, which is to be expected when you don't really have a guaranteed set stock, but the merchandise is often stored incorrectly (mediums hanging on large hangers, etc.) or in the wrong area entirely. For example, I accidentally bought size 9.5 shoes from here when I'm a size 9. Moreover, one of them kept slipping off my foot, so I was certain that they were different sizes. Wore them only once for a couple of hours and then decided that the pain really wasn't worth keeping them. The return policy on the back of the receipt (item has to be of saleable quality) differs from on the front of the receipt (item cannot have been worn), so I figured, try my luck and return it. See what happens. The worst they'd do is tell me politely that they can't accept it, right? Wrong. The worst part about the Backstage department is the fact that the people working there quite obviously don't want to be working there. I knew that before even trying to return the shoes. The cashier there didn't even wave me up or greet me; she just took her place and stared at me until I walked up. Didn't even bother with a hello. I explained the situation, and she looked at the shoes once, then proceeded to treat me like I was scamming her. Like, kept repeating that they're the same size and that they've been worn. I said, fine, I'll take them back, no problem, and she just sort of glared at me and told me they can't sell them. No explanation of the return policy, no acknowledgment of anything I was saying, not even a "have a nice day." Just treat the customer like she's an idiot for trying to return a pair of shoes. This isn't even the first time I've been treated super coldly when walking through that Backstage department. Cashiers *normally* don't even say hello or talk to you, and sometimes, it's difficult to get one at the cashier's desk. It's just that this is the first time I wasn't just going in, finding stuff on my own, and giving them money for it. So yes, if you want to be treated like you're a burden for even walking in the door, go right ahead. Otherwise, there are plenty of other stores in the same mall that will treat you better and are often cheaper, and there are plenty of Macy's elsewhere. read more

The selection could be better. I prefer shopping online most times because they have a better selection and it seems to be cheaper there. For example, items on the clearance rack in stores (that can't be used with coupons) I've found cheaper online (and can be combined with coupons). The main disappointment with this specific location are the staff, who are rude and unhelpful. Each time I've gone I have encountered service that was below par (not just from my own standards but compared to service from other Macy's locations). My most recent trip I went to the children's section and there was an employee (a tall man in a suit with glasses should anyone encounter him), rummaging through the racks. I don't mind an employee doing their job while customers shop. I do mind when they throw empty hangers on the floor and make a mess, potentially creating a hazard for someone to trip and fall. The employee was completely lacking in awareness that people (including children) are around and can get hurt. Either that or he just didn't care. read more

This Macy's is an anchor store for the Stamford Town Center, so best parking is in the mall parking, located on Greyrock Place. My main experience was with the housewares department. I was looking for a particular silverware set, which was on sale, and I was able to find it, which is great, because the floor seemed eerily deserted. It took some time to actually find an open register, and the clerk who was there seemed very unhappy at having to work in the linens department of Macy's. He was patronizing and unpleasant to other customers he was checking out, and he was interrupting me as well. He also gave me a hard sell on a Macy's card, which I was finally able to get out of. For a while there I wasn't sure if I was going to actually be able to get out of the store without signing up for a card. Anyway, I will likely avoid the housewares department unless I'm browsing items, and use online ordering instead. I can wait for delivery. read more

I don't suggest anyone walk in from Broad street (as reviewed before). It was dirty, dark and not inviting at all. The men's department had a price scanner, but it was unplugged and the cord was laying out...is this the image Macy's wants? The men's department looked like it went through a tornado. The ties were a mess, the shirts were all mixed up. They had a clearance rack and more items were strewn on the floor than were on the rack. Image? So, you would assume they had been packed busy and had not gotten a chance to clean up...not so! The staff were just walking around bored. They need new management, take the Macy's name off the outside or lower their prices to reflect the condition of this store. read more

Finally shopped Macy's again after terrible issues with furniture orders 2 years ago. Need a few things in a hurry so I did online ordering/ in store pickup. Showed up when the order was ready and there was an extremely long line for returns and issues. They had a separate lane for online ordering only. After standing for a few minutes, the gentleman (hate to use that term for someone so rude) told us to get to the back of the line. I asked if the online lane was closed and he said no, but we're too busy to handle it. Um, ok. I walked down to housewares, found what I needed, checked out and was home within 15 minutes. Will cancel my online order and proceed to shop elsewhere. Will say the updates to the store are nice, but the people, not so much. read more

First of all, this Macy's is A LOT smaller than the NYC ones that I am accustomed to - but there are also a lot more deals here that I have not seen at the other locations home in The Big Apple. Maybe it is because business is slower here / not as many people coming in so the items don't fly off the shelf? Not sure, but I feel like I hit a gold mine! I found the NERDIEST sweaters at great prices ... And I LOVE nerdy sweaters, nerdy sweater vests, nerdy bow ties, etc... Why front? They're great! Because of the lesser levels of foot traffic through here, the staff has much more time to devote to customers on a individual level which is nice. Also, they tend to be much warmer and friendlier than those in NYC. The location is also not bad, in the downtown-area in Stamford, CT which happens to be a brisk 20 minute walk from my hotel while I am here on business for the week. Hello daily trips to Macy's. This store has gone ridiculously downhill in the past year. It is completely ghetto and just a mess. Clothes all over the floor, old winter clothes mixed in with a new summer line, if you want to call it that. Such a disgrace. The store manager should be fired and Regional VPs brought in to clean it up. This store at one point had beautiful things and it was clean and well organized. It's like a bargain basement now. Stamford, Connecticut is cool, and their mall's Macy's is pretty big and very clean. It's your typical department store with signage and holiday staff asking you to sniff their seasonal scents. Their presale pick up process was really easy, unlike some other Macy's locations. I noticed their selection within brands was limited, especially in fossil watches. The plus side is that you can always order what you want online and either have it shipped or pick up in stores. Happy holiday shopping! read more

I have gone to this Macys for many years and over the past few I would say it has gone down hill. I worked next door for awhile and whenever I walked the mall at lunch this store was always a mess with long lines and not enough employees working to check people out. When I had a 1.5 month old coat with a broken zipper to return without a receipt and this was the most convenient location for me to try and return it to, I dreaded it. In fact, I had a 1 star Yelp review all written up in my head ranting and raving. Well I was pleasantly surprised. The woman who helped me was very nice and answered my questions and wasn't put off by my lack of receipt. (I did bring my credit card statement showing the purchase at least.) She took a few minutes and went over to the coat section to find the same new coat so she could scan the barcode on it to authorize the return and within 5 minutes I had my money back. I spent a few minutes walking around the coat section looking for a replacement and in no time had picked out a better quality one for $5 less than the broken one I just returned thanks to a great sale! The store still seemed a little disorganized but I had no long line for either transaction and both salespeople I dealt with were nice. They didn't even harass me about opening a Macys card! read more

When I bought my bedroom set at Macy's in 2011, the salesperson convinced me to buy the worry no more insurance since if I didn't use it I could get a sales credit for the amount. What wasn't pointed out is that there was only a 90-day period in which to claim it. I checked the policy a couple of times but never time to claim. Then life got busy. When finally remembered to check again, I was over the odd period of 7 years (had checked at 5). I assumed since only asking for store credit, they would go ahead and honor. Not the case. They just kept quoting policy. Their lack of customer centric insures that I will never be shopping there again. I will also be canceling my Macy's credit card. read more

what i am about to write has nothing to do with Stamford Macy but online Macy. i ordered two Sean John jackets for my sons. I received my order quicker than expected. i opened the the packet and instead of having two jackets there were only one with a receipt that stated two. i called macy and the woman i spoke to stated there were no more jackets and she refund my money and it could take up to 10days for the refund. what really annoys me is the simple fact i worked in retail for over 20 years and two companies that had online business. we always double checked our orders before they were shipped out and or calledbthe customer to inform them. i don't know what the hell went wrong but i am not ever ordering from them again and have talked my family in doing the same. read more

Most places will let you return everything at one customer service but this Macy's requires you to go to each specific department to return the item (i.e. Women's shoes department to return women shoes). I was helped by a woman named Richelle, she helped me find a specific item I was looking for and even helped me express ship it to my house when they didn't have available in stores. Don't go here, the staff let the place look like a dump!! Multiple items of clothes are usually scattered on the floor and have evidence of being stepped on! Clothing is very poor quality and the store carry's very odd brands. On top of that the store is falling apart, escalator doesn't work, has not been updated since the 1980's (mirrors everywhere), and is poorly maintained. But on the other hand, in recent time I have noticed an improvement in quality, with new relevant brands, addition to the stores mass, and a little improvement in cleanliness. But overall won't suggest going there. read more

YUCK! Dirty and grimy as well as outdated! Outside looks like a prison with windowless and an uninviting facade as well as dirt coming down the sides of the building and sign lights blown out! Employees are dumb and know where nothing is in the store! Like a maze of clothes on the floors and if you wanna go back to see something well just saying good luck finding it! One employee I talked to said she's quitting since her manager is horrible and obnoxious as well as she said they could put out 4 dresses and someone will buy 1 and the rest will go missing since either employees or Kids from a nearby delinquent high school will come in and steal them!
