My wife and I shop there regularly. We visited a couple of days ago. I bought a small ice cube tray, but probably will return it because, truth be told, it was an impulse buy. In any case, the store is always packed with a variety of unique and interesting household items. It's worth visiting just to browse. My only minor complaint is the narrow aisles make navigating a bit difficult. Also, my understanding is the old manager is no longer there so hopefully customer service will improve. Since it's located in the Bay Terrace mall, there is ample parking, other shopping venues, a large supermarket, and several restaurants. Overall, worth a rating of at 4 stars, good stuff, definitely time well-spent, again even if just to browse. read more

TERRIBLE customer service at this Home Goods in Bay Terrace! Their MANAGER Claudia is a horrible, disrespectful, miserable woman with awful attitude towards customers!! I asked for a simple $14.99 refund (wow!) for a purchase at a different location that was too far from me, and she did nothing, nothing at all to assist me. What is she getting paid for to do then? This location used to be a Barnes and Nobles bookstore. We were super sad that it had to shut down. However, we were also happy to see that it was being replaced by one of our favorite stores. My wife and I always have a good time just walking through the aisles and browsing. You never know what you're going to find. Maybe a small toy to be used for the next birthday party; perhaps a small side table for our basement; or some weird container of edibles. And I think the staff are usually quite courteous. However, I do agree with other reviewers here that it can be a little messy, and there are frequently broken items on the shelves for sale. Parking is usually plentiful. But the spots are quite tight. If you drive anything other than a compact sedan, you're going to be squeezing your way out of your car. Actually, you'll probably be squeezing regardless. Anyway, we always have fun walking through here. It's like a huge garage sale. Not in a bad way. Just fun when we find a piece now and then, and usually at very reasonable prices. And the whole complex is neat, clean, and safe, with its own very visible security guard team. read more

Long story short: nice store, downright rude employee (specifically the cashier Marie). We decided to go at opening time 9:30am to enjoy a quiet, peaceful shopping experience on a holiday weekend to stock up on some items. We liked the location given the ease of parking and wide space indoor. Nice items, a bit pricey when compared to Marshalls, but overall nice items. This store gets a one star because we were satisfied with stock. NO stars for customer service. Entered a slow check out line. We were standing about 5 feet behind a customer being assisted at counter, I was at the edge of the aisle with my baby stroller, patiently waiting. Meanwhile, it's a quiet store so we can hear every single conversation at the register. Cashier named Marie looks at us and snaps in a rude, condescending tone (out of nowhere) to step back because we can't be on top of the customer at the counter. The customer, who is pregnant and with her spouse, never said a peep and actually smiled at us and our daughter earlier when we were on the line. I responded and said "we're not breathing over her shoulder." What in the world was up Marie's butt at 10:15am?! I can't imagine having to deal with someone like that in the afternoon during busy hours. We have never been treated liked this at a Home Goods, Marshalls or TJ Maxx. I didn't expect such downright rude service for customers who are on the line to PAY for their items. I'm so disgusted by the behavior that I will not return to this Home Goods in the future. This Home Goods location is OKAY. Nothing special. Selection varies greatly. I find it difficult to review places like Home Goods, because it's hit or miss. One day you can find most things you're looking to shop for and other days, you can't find anything. Between this location and the one near Roosevelt Field Mall, I would have to prefer the latter. I live in Bayside and have never been to the Bay Terrace Home Goods; however I used to work in Port Washington and occasionally went to the Home Goods in Port Washington North, along Shore Road right across the water. That store was well organized and neat, they really kept it nice. Yes the line was long and took several minutes, but I didn't detect any rudeness from the customers or the cashiers. Was happy when this location opened as it was closer than the Westbury store for me. I have been to this store at least half a dozen times (probably more) and have yet to have a speedy checkout experience. Today, I went out of my way to run in and pick up some dog toys (HomeGoods has a very good selection of pet items) and again, the line was snaked around three times and barely moved in the fifteen minutes I waited. I ended up leaving without making the purchase. If this happened once or twice, I would understand but this seems to be a constant with this location, no matter what time of day. On the other hand, the Westbury store also always a long line but their line ALWAYS moves fast and they have the most pleasant people behind the register. read more

Extremely saddened and bitter about the fact that Barnes & Noble is no longer occupying this space. That said, I do love Home Goods and this new, minty fresh location, is not a bad replacement for the bookstore (how's that for cognitive dissonance, lol). I've been here a handful of times, usually in the evening hours, and surprisingly, it isn't too clogged or overwhelmed with shoppers. You won't find anything out of the ordinary here than you would at basically any other Home Goods, but once in a while, they'll carry a piece that you haven't seen before, or is perhaps a little less dinged up because the foot traffic here seems to be less (at least according to my observation). Just last week, I purchased a wall mounted wood frame cork board to pin all the lovely Christmas cards we've gotten this holiday season, and I learned that there was a little more selection here than the Home Goods in Glendale. I also love that the parking lot is free, and that there are other stores in this Bay Terrace shopping center to visit, and the very nearby AMC theather is pretty rad, too. If you drive about 10+ minutes from Bay Terrace to Bell Blvd. there are a ton of restaurants and eateries to visit, which is an added bonus! I would give this a true 4 stars, but I'm shaving one star off because I am forlorn at having lost the iconic Barnes & Noble that was sat here for years before society lost all appreciation for print and hardcopy books! And I will not be easily consoled by a Home Goods, appealing to my interior design impulses!!! So happy there's a HomeGoods in Bay Terrace! Parking is easy and there's a ton of other shops around to browse. I've been here around the grand opening time and holiday season, and has to leave because it was too crowded to shop comfortably. But I recently visited on a Monday and there were a few people there but exponentially less than before. The store is really nice but a lot of the merchandise was in clearance because it was broken, cracked, missed pieces, scratched, etc. I get it, it happens. But there were so many things that I liked and wanted to buy, but they were broken or missing a cover. The prices here are amazing and the selection is huge, but also messy. A lot of things were out of place, but I saw workers there trying to fix it and make things look nice! Btw, for those of us with super small bladder, there's a nice public bathroom in the back. You're welcome. My only major complaint is the cashier at the time - her name was Brittany (not sure how to spell it). I've been a cashier before so I know what it's like, believe me. But the level of attitude I saw her spew out kind of made me uncomfortable. One woman was checking out and cut the line. Yeah, if I was a cashier, I would say something and ask her to step in the back of the line. But she took that customer and then as the transaction was wrapping up, she yelled at her in a harsh tone and told her that she cut the line, where the line was, and to never do it again. The next transaction that took place right after that was a return, which took so long that the line piled up and backup was needed (which is much appreciated). Although Brittney was friendly to the woman requesting a return, I overheard parts of the conversation and her attitude began to shine through again. I'm thankful that I was lucky enough to get the other cashier who came for backup. Idk, I've worked in retail and I understand what these workers go through, but yelling and a bad attitude is unacceptable. People will remember that and it'll influence the way they feel about shopping that store. read more

Happy that home goods is here. When Bombay left the area, I was heartbroken! Now I can get my fix even though you do have to come frequently to see what goodies they get... but when you find them, you will be sure to love. Unfortunately I can't say the same for the staff which is why I give it a 3 stars. Hopefully they will work on getting some more customer service minded people ASAP. I loveeee a good Homegoods- unfortunately this location doesn't make the cut. Their selection is usually pretty bad. Most furniture items are damaged and broken. Shelves are messy and cluttered. I was so excited about homegoods coming so close to home! Grand opening was mayhem as expected. The store itself is in deperate need of restocking items! Weeks after the same items seemed to be on the shelves. As for the hoilday season there was mainly stock of chocolates and cookies. Lack of towels, bedding etc. I understand it may be the space and possibly smaller than other locations, but dont sacrafice quality for space. Hopefully bay terrace brings some more higher end shopping. We need trader joes, shack shack, whole foods, zara, sephora something! read more

I have to give a shout out to an employee, Doreen who helped me purchase an awesome table at the Bayside Homegoods today. It was a marble top probably weighed at least 50lbs. You know home goods you see it, you-gotta grab it ! She helped me lift this table to the front of the store with out batting an eye. She also happen to be the cashier checking me out and pushed me to try and get a discount. She introduced me to the store manager who was also really helpful. Took time looking over the table.
