The only downside is like most kosher places it can get pricy by pricy I mean like $10 for cookies but I can't resist because there just that good. Parking is metered. Look, I understand that during the pandemic, everyone is struggling to survive. That's why I placed my online order for Passover ingredients a full two weeks in advance. After one week of not hearing anything (positively, a shipping confirmation or, negatively, an email notifying me they couldn't fulfill the order), I tried to call and inquire. I was asked for my order confirmation and bluntly was told, "Let me look it up and I'll call you right back." I went through the same thing the next day... and the next... I would call to find out if my order was en route or being processed or being ignored; whatever! Finally, three days before Passover, I insisted on staying on the phone while they looked up my order. "We will get it out to you, but there might be some substitutions." Well, that's better than nothing so I was at least encouraged. Today is Passover and no package has arrived. I called again, wanting to make sure I wasn't charged. "Nah, we don't charge until we ship," I was told and then hung-up on... So pretty rotten customer service is the bottom line of this review. Again, I know it is a difficult time (why I ordered two weeks in advance). But if they couldn't bother to fill my order, it would have been the considerate thing to do to tell me, instead of making me scramble at the last minute. read more

Love this place. As others have said they carry a lot of hard to find Sephardi and Mizrahi groceries and prepared food (frozen kibbeh and jachnun anyone?) Their butcher section is well-stocked and the meat looked fresh. They also do carry some Ashkenazi stuff (frozen kishkes for example). Their homemade tahini is fantastic. They've got some legit baked goods going on. I could go on and on. read more

If your looking for middle east groceries and traditional foods, Holon is the place to find it. I have shopped at this family owned store since I was about 4 with my parents. The owners and staff are always helpful and friendly. They make many prepared foods and freeze them in their freezers. The prepared foods are probably some of the best in its class. The prices are a bit high, but relatively par with other similar stores. read more

I placed my Passover online order on March 3, 2021, and received my perfect order on March 9th- and that includes shipping it to California! All my kosher meats were excellently packaged, all the dry goods arrived in prime condition that one would think that Holon Foods was located locally. In addition, when I called before my package arrived, I had just 10 minutes before I had to go back to work and they courteously assisted me when I told them of my time restraints and we reviewed my order and they answered all my questions in 4 minutes!!! This was my BEST Peseach shopping experience-EVER!!! Thank all of you who had a role in making this year's Passover Perfect, and during a pandemic, no less!!! read more

Not one mask in the store. Not the workers nor the customers. I asked if the cashier while paying if he can put on a mask and he ignored me but gave me a dirty look like as though I'm the crazy one when it's a pandemic. Why did he ignore me!? Because my husband was while to pay just to get out of there fast so don't listen to the woman? He didn't even have a mask in his possession. We saw a worker in the back dealing with food and cleaning also didn't have one. Then this customer without one getting close to us in the line. It's already gross to have the olives buffet style. I pray I don't get Covid from this store. We liked to come here sometimes but each time they are rude. read more

I give Holon the 2 stars because they do, indeed, carry many items that us Sephardim/Mizrahim need to do our cooking with. They also have a nice selection of cheeses, and the prices are not outrageous. The issue I have is with their attitude. In an Israeli store, unfortunately, you generally will not have service with a smile; I do take deep offense when grocers feel as if they're doing you a favor. I once went in and asked if they had lahmagine. They did have frozen ones, but the clerk was visibly angry when I said that I wanted fresh- sigh- and acted as if my desire to eat them as a lunch to-go was outlandish. Aside from that experience, I do purchase things from Holon as needed, and am grateful for their selection of hard-to-find kosher items. Their prepared foods seem to be popular, though, and perhaps one day I will sample their offerings, as the number of stores selling prepared Mizrahi food in Brooklyn is limited. I appreciate their selling cheeses from The Good Life label, and I am also intrigued by their selection of rices, beans, dried beans and legumes, and the olive barrels. This store reminds me in some ways of a kosher Sahadi's. I'd be very interested in checking out their selection of Passover items; I am always on the lookout for Israeli Passover imports, many of them made with kitniyot, and I'd also be interested in whether they import for year-round consumption, Israeli kosher Elite-brand Cheetos and Doritos. read more

I really enjoy this place. Oh my G-d the hamentaschen. Get the date..yummie. The olives in teh barrels are wonderful also the nuts. I REALLY enjoy the hommade stuff at the front counter. Goulash, Morroccan carrots, baba ghanoush, and awesome tuna sald. A little Gan Eden for Sephardi! read more

Never use on-line order for this store! I ordered from this store on-line and was never informed that the item I ordered was not in stock (although it was listed on-line as in stock). The order was subsequently canceled without my knowledge. I never received a reply from the store when I inquired about the order status via email a week after the order was placed. About two weeks after the order I called them personally for an order status. At this time I was informed that my order was canceled without contacting me because the item was not in stock and they confirmed that they have not refunded me the money. This was followed by the woman hanging up on me without further explanation. I cannot speak for the actual store in Brooklyn, but after this unbelievable incident I would never recommend ordering from them on-line. My consumer confidence in this store has been permanently damaged and I am beyond amazed that I am still waiting for the refund... read more
