They had a few brands of Turkish coffee and I went for Cafe Najj with cardamom. Omg!! This coffee has changed my life! I was assisted by Hilda who I had a brief discussion with about coffee. She saw my reservations about trying the cardamom coffee and looked to see if they had any I could sample. Unfortunately they didn't but her genuine concern and kindness won me over to take a chance. I hadn't been to this store in about 5 years and I'm glad it's still there in light of how Brooklyn is changing. I'm happy to report I'm going to patronize this store more often, especially since they have better customer service skills than other stores on that street.

To find something though, it is helpful to have something in mind and to ask the Syrian owner for it, usually you'll see him being quiet behind a counter (he's a nice man who has been holding his business through what seems to be generations) - as it can be mind-boggling to figure out where to look or find a product on your own. After all, it is an old-school Middle Eastern store from yesteryear and it'll even feel like a dusty old bookstore in a sense, where you might find a magical book that opens you into a fairytale world (but obviously not). They have olives, canned products, bottled products, nuts, - pretty much anything for your Middle Eastern journey in the kitchen. But yes, they have Middle Eastern sweets, in the back along the right side - mostly in the dessert case. You can also always ask for them.

I have passed this place several times, but never really had a chance to stop by to explore it, yesterday I figured that I'll give it a shot, and I was not disappointed at all. I arrived a minute after their closing time (As usual...) and most of the refrigerators where closed down already and some lights out, but the super nice Mr. Harvest (didn't catch his name) told me that I could come in and get my stuff... So, running around like a penguin, I grab some interesting looking produce (Mini baby eggplants, Wild mushrooms, Sabra etc.) and I ask the guy if he has some fresh clementine's and he's like, "Sure thing Abe" and opens all the refrigerators for me to browse through the other stuff as well, and although it was already all closed shop he was really nice and attentive, and then I spotted my new best friend, Mr. Pink! Now Mr. Pink is a Orange that is Pink from the inside (Orange is the new black?! me thinks Orange is the new Pink!) and has a sweet and refreshing flavor and definitely worth the extra quarter . So, in overall this place is a nice little place with a rustic interesting décor (Huge wooden wheel chandelier, brick walls and so on..) and they have all the "Cream Of The Crop" produce that you normally won't find in your local supermarket, at very reasonable prices and great customer service.
