I would definitely recommend Hollywood nail here in Bristol ct. they are under new management and they all was so nice! They answered all my crazy questions as I haven't done this in a long time. They were all Very accommodating as I made my appointment online. I will definitely call next time as it was my first time there. I was drawn to them as I saw there fabulous nail pictures on Facebook page. I was very curious and it did not disappoint. My nails came out fabulous. They did not rush me off. They took there time and The place was Very clean and it was very family oriented. Very friendly! They even have evening hours for us late working people. Very disorganized inside, papers and junk everywhere. I got dip and every nail is a different length. They're thick and bumpy and I'm so disappointed. I kept thinking, "oh, she'll fix that, she'll smooth that out". Not at all. The woman next to me got charged extra for skipping a week and not coming every 3 weeks. I was appalled. I really hate to make this review (Had to put this edit in afterwards, it says on here they accept credit cards they do not. CASH ONLY) if you wanted to go My mom and sister both like it there, I've tried in the past and it's really hit or miss. I will say if you can get an appointment with the owner Lihn and only she works on your hands you will be in good hands with her talent!! BUT unfortunately this past weekend October 11th 2020 I brought my daughter & niece in and we all got full set nails done ALL THREE of us got BAD CUTS I got cut with actual scissors down the side of one of my nails There is new staff their and I understand Covid lost a lot of people in this cosmetic industry, myself being a hairdresser it was hard on all of us The owner lihn is so nice and she's very talented at nails that's why I really didn't want to make this review and she ended up finishing all three of our nails, but I am upset about how she handled what happened to us when I told her how badly we were hurt. I really don't like to complain & it was my daughters bday but I did make it known we were cut and the owner said "she will talk to her girls" so I apologize Lihn but that didn't help My daughter was bleeding from two fingers and I had a cut down one of mine and a bleed from two other fingers at the cuticle. They were honestly cutting my skin WITH STRAIGHT UP SCISSORS!!. I went to school for cosmetology so I had to learn how to do nails (briefly) and they were also very unsanitary Which brings me to this horrible part. they used the same buffer and filed our nails all using the same one not disinfected then used it on a woman who was next. And after bleeding on these utensils I was appalled. If one of us had a blood transferable disease this could Change someone's life. I've heard horror stories. The two girls who started us all off (I'm sorry to sound rude) had NO IDEA what they were doing. At all. Once we all bleed they just put this greenish color slime on in. Again I didn't want to say anything to embarrass my daughter or make her feel bad about her nails but her nails looked like they had 100 layers of nail polish and it took one of the first girls 40 mins just to paint So here's another thing Us three came I'm at 1:10, we left at 4:45 Like what?! There was another woman there who was very clearly upset about her toe nails she was on the phone yelling at whoever to come get her and saying she was going to loose it at the nail techs and Lihn being professional said she would offer her a discount. To get her nails done. And this woman complaining was being horrible to the salon staff and tbh made us feel so uncomfortable but I get it I was mad as heck too! But, I don't get why I wasn't offered any discount with all of us bleeding and our nails not looking a thing like what we asked after telling her It's one thing to now like love your nails It's A WHOLE BIG PROBLEM to have been cut and not one but all three of us bleed. These two ladies I hate to call them out but if I remember their names were Lili & Nayila (I think that's spelled wrong) and they were speaking Spanish and I did understand them and they did talk about us but again I felt very uncomfortable calling them out. I didn't want to make a scene and it was again my daughters birthday like present/party since we couldn't celebrate with this whole Covid crap I'm sorry Lihn, and in Lihn's defense to anyone reading this... if you go their make an appointment with Lihn and as long as she is with you the whole time you will be in good hands in my opinion And I feel bad that these women are ruining her business by not being trained well and not listening when we said ouch and not being sanitary and hurting us and being rude speaking a different language thinking we couldn't understand , when I did. I know Lihn lost some talented girls because of Covid they had to get a new job. If all 3 of us hate our nails and we're cut badly , and the only other person in the spa was screaming on the phone how badly she was done and the cost. It can't be just us. I hope Lihn can get better nail techs in ASAP! Because, quite frankly that was unacceptable. I'll post pics below of what we asked for and what we left with I only have my daughter and I pictures. My daughters nail looks sooooooo thick and for pushing and cutting our cuticles soooooo far back we rly shouldn't have left looking like we needed a fill in a week Again sorry Lihn , your taleneted & overly friendly. These people are rly hurting your business. Less staff is better then staff that can put us in danger and doesn't follow state regulations regarding sanitation and disinfection. Read the reveiws it's true they will burn the s*** out of your cuticles and act like nothing happened. Four out of ten fingers are burnt... I wanted to just relax and get my nails done. It was not relaxing at all. I was constantly pulling my hand away in pain. Every time I have come here in the last three years they have burnt my fingers. Never fails. I come here when I need to get a quick fill and can't make it to my usual place but going forward, I would rather have shitty nails for an extra couple days then come here. They took over an hour to do my fill. Burnt my fingers. I asked to keep my coffin shape she hacked me nails off to regular square and then charged me an extra three dollars to "shape" my nails. She did a crappy paint job which ultimately left my nails bulky and uneven.. After commented on how much I tipped, you did a half ass job on my nails honey you're lucky you even got your four bucks. Save your money drive go some where else Ace Nails in Plainville/Southington line is always on point with their nails, larger selection of of polish, cheaper, and nicer people and they do acrylic. Would give 0 stars if I could! Told the girl to stop twisting my thumb as she was looking away to talk. Well heard a crack had bad pain 4 hours later ended up in the ER with a very swollen thumb and pain to find out she actually sprained my thumb!!!!! Not to mention it took 2.5 hours for a mani pedi , I got a full set they didn't even do a manicure paid $80 and left there looking like I already need a fill and fingers bleeding. I have been going to this nail salon 4 over 7 years and only sit with the owner. This week she proceeded to tell me I was fussy. My nails were done by someone else and they were a mess and you can't really mess up a gel manicure. You don't tell your clients things like that. I have been in business for many years and know that Customer Service is of the upmost especially nowadays. There was no offer to redo my nails or compensation. I tip to the highest and expect to be treated with respect. When I called her TUAY her name and explain to her the situation calmly she said she didn't want to argue and I did not either but I don't think I could ever go to this nail establishment again After being called fussy and being treated with such disrespect. My sister and I drove around Bristol and visited 5 nail salons before we decided on Hollywood Nails. I don't normally get my nails done all the time, but my wedding was a special occasion. Since I live out in Seattle now, I had no idea where to go for my manicure and pedicure. We decided on Hollywood Nails for a few reasons: 1. There were customers inside who looked happy. 2. There was more than 1 person working inside. 3. It wasn't overwhelmingly smelly inside. 4. The prices were reasonable. I'm glad we chose Hollywood nails because they did a great job on my french manicure and pedicure. The pedicure massage was extra long and we were in and out within 35 minutes or so. At peak times, the salon was filled with about 10 people (other salons in the area can't say the same). I'd definitely come back here next time I'm in Bristol. read more

I went in last Saturday to get a manicure. An older gentleman did my nails and ended up cutting the cuticles on three fingers of my left hand so badly that I bled throughout the manicure. Never once did I get an apology, he just put some green liquid on the nails and kept going. He was incredibly unhygienic, frequently coughing into his hands and never washing them, just going back to doing my nails, which had open cuts because of his roughly cutting my cuticles. The one good thing I can say about him is that he took his time applying the polish. However, before the final coat, an older woman took over and globbed on the top coat unevenly and carelessly. I left with thick, cheap looking nails, and throbbing fingers. Hopefully I won't get infected. This place will never see my business again!! read more

I really liked my first experience at Hollywood nails. There is a lot of staff, and A LOT of customers. I did not like waiting such a long time to get my pedicure (half hour) and then I sat in the pedicure station for a half hour after my pedicure to wait for a manicure. The lady was very nice and let me use the massage chair while I waited. She did a great job and it was painless, not like some other salons. I accidentally messed up my pedicure when I got out of the chair and she gladly fixed it. I was in and out in about 1 1/2 to 2 hours.... Which is a bit long, but the results were good. read more

I came for a white tip, gel French manicure. I was very specific about wanting white tips instead of clear so they didn't have to paint the white on them. The woman completely ignored me and put clear tips on all my nails. Once I told her I wanted white tips (again) she got an attitude and forcefully removed the clear. I let her finish the full set and shouldn't have. The gel is coming off the nails, the tips weren't put on correctly (there's too much space between the tip and my real nail) and she globbed the gel on. They're thick and uneven. It's probably a good place if you're not getting a full set, but don't get a full set here. I won't be going back. read more

I used to enjoy getting my eyebrows waxed here. The women are very friendly and kind. During my last visit the woman who waxed my daughter eyebrows was outside smoking a cigarette, then proceeded to wax my eyebrows without washing her hands. The smell of cigarette from her hand was so strong and overwhelming it nauseated me. I will not return due to this and believe it is a health hazard. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place on top of being dirty is extremely unprofessional. I went to get my acrylic nails taken off and she POPPED THEN OFF WITH A FAKE NAIL! No soaking no nothing. It was so painful and rough that SHE LEGITIMATELY PULLED MY REAL NAIL OFF IN SOME SPOTS. I told her multiple times of the pain and she just laughed it off and continued. I told her in the beginning I wanted a clear gel coat to help with the strength AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SERVICE and she assured me it was only $10. At the end of my service while my nails were drying she basically demanded I pay at that moment and basically ripped my credit card out of my wallet at I was grabbing it WITH WET NAILS. Went here to treat my mom and I to a manicure, after traveling to 2 other nail salons (one was packed, the other had didn't greet us and the smell was unbearable.). The place looked a little dated but I didn't mind the fact you couldn't smell the fumes outweighed the decor. The service was pretty good. They couldn't sit my mom next to me for her first manicure. I've been going to Hollywood nails for 12 years now. I refuse to go back because the last few times I've went I've been in so much pain. One of the ladies took chunks of skin off me while filing down my nails. The nails were so thin too because not even a week later they were starting to break off! When I went back a guy did fix it but kept messing up the polish. One time when I was getting my nails off, they ripped my entire pinky nail off! Also, it took them more than an hour to do my nails when usually it took them less than an hour. They've gotten careless. Sad that a long time customer is never going back. read more

The staff here lack basic customer service skills. No one greets you, asks what you'd like to have done, or gives you an estimated wait time. Went in earlier this week to set up an appointment, and the lady told us they don't take appointments. We decided to go in for a fill today and they took 2 people with appointments. The Nail tech I had started cutting my nails too short for the coffin look I told her I wanted at the beginning of service then said "too late." She ultimately ended up trying to shape them coffin shape and charged me extra for the shaping. My hands look like two different people did them. She rushed through the entire service, my fingers were bleeding at 2 different spots. She went so fast and carelessly that I finished a good 10 minutes ahead of my friend who's tech had started 20 minutes before me. She burnt my cuticles and was going so fast she often missed and hit my fingers so my hands are all beat up. Not worth the money, at all. read more
