The croissant was pretty large and warm. It's wasn't the greatest croissant but it was with lamination and tasted buttery. The piping hot tea and freshly squeezed orange juice rounded out a nice starter to the day. Service was mostly friendly, though I didn't have to interact much. I was greeted at the front by FOH and the server was friendly enough. The decor here is quite lovely, with that 19th century feel. The display cases of desserts looked inviting. If I was around the area longer, I would've stopped by for a strudel. There are newspapers available for diners to read as they're sipping their coffee. Where do you find that in the States anymore?

I had already tried this but I was ready for #2. Originating from the imperial kitchens, it is said that Kaiserschmarrn was created by accident when a chef, preparing pancakes for Emperor Joseph I, accidentally dropped them. Rather than discarding them, the chef cleverly added raisins, whipped egg whites, and powdered sugar before serving it to the emperor. Joseph I adored the creation securing its place in Austrian culinary history.

As a tourist you want to experience the food, culture, and daily life of the local residents and this place definitely delivers on that front. Their prices are quite good, noticeably cheaper than the cafes we visited in the city center. One thing to keep in mind is that they are cash only so come prepared!
