Funny thing was that a YouTube video with Dr. Allison Young talking about Floaters popped up into my feed? I watched the whole video which was very informative and found she was at this office. I decided to read some Yelp reviews and call the office the next day. I called the office, explained my situation and asked what the out of pocket costs were? The clerk was very helpful and recognized my urgency so she told me what the out of pocket costs were for the eye tests and any test after. She also mentioned if I needed a specialist, the doctor would let me know after the test results. I was willing to pay for peace of mind before the weekend and didn't want to wait in case I had a detached retina or retinal tear. It's the holidays and I just wanted to get it over with, deal with whatever and move on. Thankfully the clerk was able to fit me in within 1.5 hours so I took it. She told me I would have my eyes dilated and the tests may take 1.5-2 hrs. I was reluctant at first because who wants to drive in traffic with dilated eyes where everything is super bright but I sucked it up and took the appointment. I came in and it was a busy lobby with lots of patients. I filled out my health info on the tablet vs. on paper and submitted it. I was probably seen by the tech about 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment. Tori was the tech's name and she was friendly and easy going. I explained my symptoms and gave her my last Optometrist's Exam Notes which I had online so that was really helpful. She took some vision tests, we chatted and she dilated my eyes with the eye drops. She was upbeat, personable and we talked about the growth and people from the city among other things and said I had really good vision. I didn't feel like a number with her friendliness and making it a positive experience. Tori took me into another room where the doctor would be examining me. It was an interesting room with Texas Longhorn decor...lots of it on the walls. A very Texan motif and not sterile by any means. I probably waited another 5-10 minutes until I was finally seen by Dr. Jana Waters. She had an assistant named Juan who took notes while she administered my exam. I told her my symptoms and having floaters in the past and she did the exam. Afterwards, she said my eye was fine, no detached retina so I was so relieved!! She told me what to look out for and what was happening which was just fluid leaking from the back but no detachment. I asked if I could do jump tucks and if that would affect it jumping around and she said no. She just said if I see a dark black circle that's constant or if I'm experiencing anything else, to come in and she'll have a look at it. I told her I prayed at church today and she said "Well prayer helps!!" Afterwards, I checked out and only had to pay for the price of a regular exam, no extra tests needed! I was pleased with the service and personnel from front desk check in to the Med Tech, Tori and Dr. Waters. The only thing I would suggest is to sanitize every surface a patient is putting their chin on. I saw Lysol spray on the counter so I assume it's being used? I just remember the protocols my regular Optometrist's office followed during my exam earlier this year. Every machine surface was sanitized by an alcohol wipe before each patient put their face/chin on it. I also saw my doctor washing her hands before examining me. I appreciated their conscientiousness in the office from the staff.

This was my first time and I took it on recommendation. I was unable to complete my documents on…read moreline but it didn't take long to get it completed at the visit. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The doctor was really nice and provided education as needed. I had a very pleasant experience with everyone from front desk to the doctor, the technicians and check out.

He was really…read moreoutstanding when I first saw him back in August 2025, considering that I already had really bad luck when I previously went to Dr Arthur Medina OD earlier last summer. Dr Pessoa seemed really enthusiastic and very on top of explaining the changes in my vision. So when he suggested following up with him for a medical eye exam, and I had specified to him that I really wanted to be considered for medically necessary contacts, I made an appointment with him for early Sept 2025. However, it wasn't until I saw him that Sept at this 14807 San Pedro Avenue location that I found out I wouldn't be considered for medically necessary at all. He only told me during my Sept appointment that the only doctor who could see me for medically necessary purposes would be Dr Erdmanczyk. I have to admit that I wasn't too happy about this because, if I had known that only certain doctors would be able to evaluate me for medically necessary purposes, I could have waited to do my medical eye exam later. It realiy would have been nice and much more forthcoming if I had been told this upfront back in August 2025 at the Alamo Heights location. For that reason, I am only giving 3 stars. I really think Dr Pessoa could have done a little better in properly informing me. I also noticed that he also wasn't as enthusiastic about examining me during my follow-up appointment with him in Sept 2025. And for those very reasons, I really could have waited to do my medical exam appointment later in the year with Dr Erdmanczyk if I had been properly informed before coming to this location that he was the only doctor who could see patients for medically necessary purposes. Especially because I went out of my area of Alamo Heights to this San Antonio Eye Center location for my medical eye exam.

Very pleased with the quality of care from the doctor as he is very open to accommodate the needs and preferences of the patient. The office experience is also very pleasurable as they move quickly to accommodate the appointments. On our last visit, which was a follow up to the original our wait time was very short. I would recommend San Antonio Eye Center to anyone who needs an optometrist or ophthalmologist.

This company is only concerned with money, and not the patient' care…read more I initially went in to the Stone Oak location to see Dr. Bustamante about a scratch on the eye I had gotten. He sent me home with eye drops for 10 days. When I returned he told me I needed a contact lens membrane in the eye that was scratched so that would it regenerate the part of my eye that was scratched. After my visit, Dr. Bustamante left a voicemail saying "his trustworthy scribe" told him that I needed the contact lens in my other eye that was NOT SCRATCHED because my scratched eye would have better vision than my non-scratched one after the contact lens. It seemed strange to me, but I am not an eye doctor, so I did as he instructed. After all of this, my eye did not improve so I went for a second opinion. They told me the membrane lens was non beneficial because a scratch in my cornea would have healed itself before I even got the membrane because he made me wait 10 days for drops. After all of this, I received ANOTHER bill in the mail after I had paid in office. I called to complain, they said they would review the bill. They took it off my statement and then a month later, I again got another bill from them. And they said it was the customers responsibility.

Office staff is also friendly. -The process is disorganized. If someone is having their vision checked, dilate their eyes *before* they see the doctor. I asked for this at my kiddo's appointment and was told to wait. Then they ended up needing it done, which caused the total appointment time to take 2.5 hours! Why do things run so slowly? Dr. Cohen is efficient and rarely spends more than 10 minutes with a patient, so why is the wait *always* at least 45 minutes past the scheduled time? We like Dr. Cohen, but are considering switching to somewhere else because of the way things are run here.

She was refused service for arriving TWO minutes past "cut-off" time, despite having attempted to call and notify the office multiple times that she would be late due to unexpected construction/traffic (she was only able to leave a message, which they ignored). The receptionist and head nurse were rude and even laughed at my mother's situation. The other two receptionists were blithely talking on what appeared to be personal calls. There was only one family in the waiting room. DO NOT see this practice if you are looking for a professional, caring medical staff. My mother has lived in San Antonio for 31 years and has never experienced this kind of a horrific experience. I am praying that she gets the medical help she needs, since now she can't find anybody who will see her before the New Year. What a travesty and a disgrace. Beware.
