The door was finally opened by the poor harried therapist, who then gave us paperwork to fill out (this should have been encouraged before the start time of the massage). I was then sent to the bathroom to put on a very confusing and tattered set of clothes (??), leaving my underthings on I guessed?, then went into the massage room to find there isn't even a face cradle; there was a sort of rolled up dish towel, but I spent most of the time on my stomach trying to breathe. I also believe that, especially given the logistics of a good Thai massage, each (female) client should be asked if she is ok with a male therapist. My 90 minute massage was late, short, stressful, and I probably left feeling tenser than when I arrived. No part of this felt like "self-care." I tipped my therapist well and didn't say anything negative aside from asking if he were the owner, but as he wasn't, I just checked out and left. It's been a rough couple of weeks and I was really looking forward to finding a great Thai massage place in town, but this one left me emotional and missing my old place.
