For almost three weeks, I suffered from severe 10/10 pain around my left shoulder blade and ribs after weeks of terrible coughing. The pain felt like someone was stabbing a knife into my back and chest. I could not lie down to sleep and had to sleep sitting upright. Breathing deeply and especially coughing were extremely painful, sometimes the pain literally brought me to tears. I went back and forth to Kaiser. They did X-rays, urine tests, and lab work to rule out a fracture, kidney problems, and other possible causes. Everything came back normal. I was given a muscle relaxant, pain medication, and cough syrup. My cough improved, but the severe shoulder pain did not. I was exhausted, barely sleeping, and still trying to go to work every day.I could barely concentrate and sometimes felt like I was going to collapse from the exhaustion and pain. Luckily, I found Dr. Song after searching for traditional treatment options and reading his many positive reviews. He explained where he believed my pain was coming from and placed a few acupuncture needles around my left hip and later my neck. Within seconds after the first few needles, he asked me to stand up and move my shoulder, I immediately noticed less pain and tightness. After the treatment, I went home and realized that about 70% of my pain was gone. For the first time in weeks, I could lie down and rest without that horrible stabbing pain. I almost couldn't believe it. I am going to return for another session. After three weeks of severe pain, being able to lie down, breathe more comfortably, and finally rest after just one treatment felt like a miracle to me. I've tried various reliefs in the past such as routine massages, creams, and acupuncture. I wanted to give acupuncture a try again as it did help me for a brief time. Thankfully I found Dr. Song in Claremont. She has outstanding credentials and uses multiple techniques that I was not familiar with, like gua sha. On top of that, Dr. Song is very professional and thorough with her assessment. She will take the time to listen and understand your needs. After all that, she will then walk you through what she thinks will be best for you and treatment options. And she does this for every visit so she can make any adjustments as the treatment progresses. Her treatments include good aseptic techniques and she will not hold back on how many needles she will use for you to receive the best acupuncture. So far, after my 3rd treatment, my pain in some target areas is mostly gone. We are still working on other target areas but there is progression. But after their rave reviews I decided to give this place a try. Its kind of hard to see where its at as your driving by due to the dark tinted windows. But when you walk in though, your transported from Rancho Cucamonga to what feels like somewhere in Asia. Place is very clean, quiet, with some soft music playing in the background. You definitely have to make an appointment in order to be seen. First I met with Sam in his office. Questions were asked. But what really amazed me was he asked me to stick out my tongue as well as checked my radial pulse. And from those 2 things he was able to tell that I didn't get enough sleep at night. Based on the color of my tongue and the feel of my pulse. Just amazing!!! I was blown away with that accurate assessment!!! Afterwards I was brought to another room. Where after lying down, he placed about 12 needles to my back which actually didn't hurt. You feel a little prick or pressure, but nothing like a flu shot. He placed about 6 of the needles with some electrical currents. Like a tens unit. There's different settings that you can adjust the voltage to, but nothing too painful. It rhythmically jolted me every couple of seconds, definitely feels weird but not painful. He even placed a warming machine over my back which kept my muscles nice and relaxed. After about an hour Sam came back in to remove the needles. But my back felt amazing afterwards!!! The dull chronic pain that's always there to the shoulder blades and lower back was no longer there. I felt so much looser. And the effects were for at least a week of no back pain. Depending on your health insurance it could be free (like for my parents) to max of about $60. Even if it was a $100 its definitly worth it!! And I will be back again when my chronic back pain comes back.
