I continue to be very affected by how Dr. Berman 'handled' me and "treated" my dying cat last Monday - the things that were said (way too much, that muddied what was crystal clear), and the things that were done (totally unnecessary). And the things not said that absolutely should have been and without prompting on my part. I'm not innocent in my animal companion's of 16 years completely needless, multiple trauma in his last day of life, and I have to live with that. I didn't witness what he went through, but I keep replaying the images in my mind and imagining what it was like for him. And I feel tremendous pain and unremitting guilt. But the difference is that I was facing the inevitable loss of a dear friend, emotional and in denial, and Dr. Berman was the authority, (supposedly) clear-headed, objective, truthful and compassionate - basic assumptions for medical professionals holding beings' lives in their hands. I initially considered writing privately to the clinic first, but finally decided that to be taken seriously, I should engage with the clinic's leadership publicly from the start. I welcome Dr. Corrigan, the clinic's owner, reaching out to me via email for my feedback and suggestions.

So I asked her what happened and complained about the wound. She simply just said that she didn't know about it at all. How untrustworthy and unprofessional she is! In addition, her grooming skill is just average, not outstanding at all according to all my experiences with other dog groomers. I paid $75 for the horrible service. I won't ever go back there.

At first I didn't know the new owner took over the place but realized some staff had been changed. Because I was pretty happy with the previous owner I was kinda concerned how good they are gonna be. And the result was terrible. I wish I kept the photos to post. After a couple of visits to the current owner I wasn't that happy with their cut on my dog but I let it go but then on the last visit I was so so upset. So I picked up my dog and took her to the car and took around my dog and I noticed a scar on right armpit. I was very unpleasant because they did not inform me about the scar when picked up (I thought mayb they didn't realize it but thought again, they should've checked) so I went back in to the shop with my dog since I was still in they parking lot and showed them the scar. They seemed they don't really care. They in fact asked something like ' so you want refund?'. I was disgusted by their attitude. I just told my self 'you know what ef them Im just not gonna come back' and here I am, leaving a review that happened over one year ago.

The price I was quoted was similar to his regular groomer, the photos on their site showed good work, and I was amazed at how quickly they could fit him in ... so I made the appointment. BIG MISTAKE. I showed photos of his normal cut (which is nothing special) and was very clear about his ears which are the only thing I'm particular about. When I picked him up they had butchered the cut on his face and ears (!!!) and shaved him bald between the legs (poor guy has razor burn on the hottest day of the year). I was obviously upset and was offered a small discount ... then I was given the price ... 40% more than I was quoted over the phone!! I was told this was their standard price for my breed ... so I asked if it was "standard" why didn't they give me that price over the phone? ... no reply. I will never take my dog there again and strongly suggest you don't either!

During the treatment period, I raised concerns several times that the medication seemed to be affecting him poorly. Unfortunately, these concerns were not taken seriously. After the last dose, he began having seizures. At no point were we clearly informed about the potential neurological side effects of this medication or advised about warning signs to watch for. We are devastated. Neo was deeply loved, and we spent years caring for him through sleepless nights, significant emotional strain, and substantial medical costs. I am sharing this in the hope that the clinic will remind its veterinarians and technicians to carefully discuss the potential side effects of medications like this and to listen closely when owners report concerns. If this message helps prevent another family from going through the same loss, Neo's story will have mattered.

I had already left a review on Google a long time ago, but decided to leave one here on Yelp today…read more I was very surprised by the negative reviews. I've been to a large list of veterinarians over the past 20+ years, and I've had one of my best experiences here at SVH. Firstly to address the negative review regarding the full examination "without warning" -- it is STANDARD PROCEDURE at any veterinary hospital to include a full examination if you haven't been to see the vet in about 4-ish weeks (it can vary very slightly from vet to vet, but the most common number I've seen is 4 weeks). After 4 weeks, it's difficult for the vet to say that your pet is in the "same" condition as when they were last seen, and it becomes a liability for them to simply administer vaccinations or other medications or give medical advice, without fully assessing their health once again. I hope I'm making sense! It's not only at SVH that this procedure is done, it's at EVERY VET I have ever been to, all around the United States, British Columnbia, and Ontario. Even if your pet was seen by a vet at a different hospital 1 week prior, your new vet can be held liable if they don't do a physical before they administer any kind of medical advice/tool/treatment/medication! Now this being said, 4 weeks is STANDARD for all hospitals, but the other reviewer is complaining saying that their cat had a clean bill of health 6 months ago... a lot can change in 6 months. Secondly, I am not sure about the groomer at SVH. I have never seen her, met her, or used her services, but I don't believe I can judge SVH based on the groomer's services. My personal experience at SVH has been nothing but wonderful. All the vet techs, assistants, and doctors are kind and understanding. They don't push medication, vaccination, or medical procedures unnecessarily, and know how to accept "No thank you" for an answer. I can tell they really care about their patients! I've never seen them get frustrated or upset with any patient, no matter how difficult the patient was being. Just today, I saw a dog that I was afraid would get very aggressive, but Dr. Cox handled him like a pro. Prices are about the same as most mid- to high-end vets I've been to. Not unreasonably expensive, but I am not the first to complain about high prices as I know that there are many factors behind the price of veterinary services (ex. Experience of vet, specialized services, what type of equipment it is and how new/advanced the equipment is, etc.). If I feel like I don't require a particular service, I let them know and they don't try to guilt me. They have always provided top quality care for my babies, and have treated them as if they were their own. I know I can be a super annoying pet parent, because I'm constantly bombarding the doctors with questions. But they always take the time to address all of my concerns without becoming frustrated or condescending. I couldn't ask for a better hospital!

I am not a big reviewer but I can not say enough good things about Smith's. A lot of people with…read morepets (and free universal Health Care) have a bit of sticker shock when obtaining any vet care. Probably the same people that complain about hospital parking fees. SVH is in the business of examination. That is what all their education, training and facility costs are geared for. Grooming service is a perk. Experienced pet owners know that for every issue there are probably 3 possible causes you can take to further identify and address. You start with the most likely and start crossing off. Vets cost are expensive but they are expensive everywhere. Charges typically align just like Dental services. With Smith you get a great team, compassionate and experienced. I have spent a lot of money at Smith's over the years but I also have had the peace of mind I was doing right by our animals and they were in good hands.
