    Moldy wall in bathroom
    Nicole C.

The desk staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was family friendly and good. The rooms are filthy. We checked in and found the bathroom corners caked with dirt and mold on wallpaper. I wanted to switch rooms and the next room was thick with cigar smoke, and then the last room was dirty too! Getting to late to continue to search for a clean room, we settled in. Not realizing the couch and floor had this goop and the sink and soap were soo dirty! The shower had pink mold and the corner of the doors were dirty. I keep looking for other words besides dirty, gross and filthy. Sorry, but the cleaner check list needs to be updated and this hotel shouldn't be on your visit list. 4 stars for staff, ZERO stars for rooms

    Accessible door control not working.

This is, by far, the worst Holiday Inn Express I've ever stayed in. The bathroom was filthy, with grime in the sink, mold in the shower and on the bathroom floor, a very noisy exhaust fan, no washcloths, a sticky bathroom floor, and a missing hose between the shower diverter and the shower head. The juice machine in the breakfast area was posted as "Out of Order," and coffee was late coming out at opening and slow to be replenished. The washing machine was posted as "Out of Order." Staff did not seem to care at all, and was unable to address the issues, even providing something as simple as two washcloths after two requests. The front door to the lobby was filthy...not a few fingerprints from a pack of young soccer players, but rather a build up of grime from extended periods without thoughtful cleaning. One room was well stocked with Keurig Pods, but not Keurig Coffee Machine. One of our rooms was even missing the hose that connects the shower wand to the diverter, which meant that water poured out of the opening unless the diverter was in a very special position. We asked staff, twice, for two washcloths because there were none in the room. One staff member replied they don't use washcloths and the other replied they were out of them. IHG...The Holiday Inn Express in Temecula is an embarrassment to the entire IHG family of hotels.

Stayed at this hotel for a week while we visited San Diego and Riverside County. Right off of the 15 Freeway in Temecula, the freeway was in our backyard. Fortunately, with double paned windows, the noise was cancelled out. Although the air conditioner was very loud. An older hotel and I was not pleased with the handicap accormodatations. My fault, partly, because I mistakenly booked an ADA tub, though I thought I booked a handicapped shower. Bath soap was not reachable while sitting in the tub, so I unscrewed it off the wall so my son could use it. Tub did not drain and you had to hold it up to allow for drainage. Bath towels had rips in them. The previous customer had left candy wrappers under the bed and in between the desk and wall. The printer did not work so I could not print my boarding pass. The one thing I do like is the breakfast in the morning and I am a big fan of those mouth watering cinnamon rolls and coffee. I like the variety of different breakfast options and makes for one less choice to make in the morning. Right down the elevator from 6:30 AM - 9:30 AM! Located very close to Old Town too and located across the freeway are shops and restaurants. Staff was very nice and accomodating.

    Food on wall

This place is in a decent location but that's about it. It smells when you walk in, the entrance door handicap button is broken as well. The room had food on the wall and shower had mold. Terrible.

Checked in for a two night stay for the wedding. A great location close to stores and restaurants. And though a bit dated, everything you'd need are here, other than a safe. Comfortable beds too. And Holiday Inn Express always have something everyone can eat for a decent breakfast, especially on weekends.

I flew to Los Angeles (from Honolulu) to attend the SoHyang / Jung Dong Ha concert at the Pechanga Resort in Temecula. It was a last minute decision based on my ability to purchase a ticket near the front of the stage (row EE). I could fly into Los Angeles or San Diego but flying into LAX would allow me to get to Temecula during the day. Anyway, I picked up my rental car and drove the 95-odd miles from LAX to the Holiday Inn Express (HIE) on Jefferson Avenue. Why the HIE? Because there were no rooms available at the Pechanga Resort. I arrived at HIE just before 10am because I wanted to drop off my bag. I'd seen videos and heard warnings about not leaving one's luggage in the car. I had 5 hours to kill before I could check in at 3pm. Problem #1: They wouldn't hold my bag. The excuse was no storage area. This is the first time this has happened; ALL hotels hold bags. So, I placed my bag behind the front seat and lowered the rear seat back to "hide" my bag. It was a SUV so leaving it in the space behind the rear seat left it in view. I returned at 3pm to find out that my room wasn't ready; they had sold out the day before and the staff were still cleaning rooms. I had what was labeled an executive room on the 3rd floor. So, I waited (along with a few other people) and finally got the card keys to my room. I went up and entered, turned on the AC and was greeted by a stale smell. Great; this is starting out to be "wonderful". I went to the ice machine on the 3rd floor and was greeted by a sign that said "Broken" (problem #2). I went down to the 2nd floor and couldn't find an ice machine so I had to go to the ground floor to get ice. Back upstairs, I tried turning on the TV but the DirectTV remote didn't do anything to the LG TV (problem #3). I fiddled around for a while and called the Front Desk. Five minutes later, someone came up and was unable to make it work. She said she'd send someone that knew more. I fiddle some more and got the TV powered using the button on the TV. The DirectTV remote would change channels but none of the other buttons worked. I had to use buttons on the TV to control the volume. The "expert" came up, looked at the remote and the TV and stated that the DirectTV remote doesn't work with the LG TV and that the workaround I came up with was as good as it would get. I showered, laid on the bed and got ready to go to dinner. What? I have what looks like a flea bite. Great. (It was the only one, thank goodness.) The bathroom was okay ... the overflow drain cover on the tub was installed upside down; I started to put in it the correct orientation but found that I would uncover a nasty stain so I left it "as is". At least there was hot water and sufficient water pressure. The toilet flushed like a marine head. Those that have been on a cruise will know what I mean. Hey, it worked ... that's all that mattered. My room faced I-15 (100ft away) so I had to put up with freeway noise at night. Luckily, my activities made me tired enough not to care. On Saturday, I encountered a throng of people in the tiny lobby ... I think they were waiting to check in. So, my experience the day prior seems to be the norm. I didn't try the free breakfast until Sunday, check-out day. It was decent ... there was a choice of sausage, biscuits and gravy, cheese omelets, breads and pastries. All I really wanted was coffee and it was decent coffee. Final thoughts ... I think I could put up with the issues encountered had I not paid $488 for 2 nights. For $244/night, I expect more; a lot more. The staff were nice but I think they're understaffed and somewhat overwhelmed. For $100/night, I'd give it 3.5 stars. For $244/night, they're lucky to get 1 star.

Decent hotel. Stayed one night - did not verbally acknowledge hotel status, but gave me welcome points. No upgrade (possibly not available). Breakfast was as expected. Older hotel, but serviceable for what we were there for. Close to fast food and some restaurants. Lots of families.

Good location close to restaurants. It's a bit loud during morning hours before 10 am though. Maybe it's the contractors at work before Christmas Day. Staffs are informative and there's free complimentary breakfast here. Not bad for a queen bedroom, but they gave us the accessibility room/good for handicapped people. Hot water pressure runs fast. Beds and sheets were soft and comfortable. Pillows were puffy, just the way I like it. There were no crowds in the parking lot, so there's plenty of spaces to park. Gym was right next to our room on second floor and there's a window in the hallway that can view the ground floor of the lobby. Holiday Inn uses good Dove shampoo, conditioner & body wash. This building is a lot older for this little town, but the stay was comfortable. There's a mini refrigerator inside the room too. Towels & toilet paper is well stocked. It's not the best Holiday Inn, but it's convenient. Snacks and beverages are for sale in the lobby. IHG members get a free goodies bag. This is a convenient hotel for families. Not too bad. Just notice the noise levels though. Average hotel.

Exterior shower corner with buildup of nastiness.

As others have mentioned, the rooms are in desperate need of updating. A couple of things that stand out include a lack of USB charging options that hotels make available, usually through nightstand lamps. It was kinda funny to find an ethernet port, but no USB ports, on the desk in our room. If that were the only issue we observed, it would have been no big deal. However, there was another more serious problem - mold and mildew. An area around the shower, where water tended to leak, was caked with black nastiness (see photos). A less serious issue and probably in the category of too much information was the toilet. That commode was so low to the floor that it took a real effort to sit on the thing. It kinda reminded me of a potty training toilet. Once seated on the thing the fun continued with private parts actually dangling in the toilet water. Okay, so your mileage may differ, but that's definitely not what I would consider a feature. Lastly, the lobby, halls, elevator are all rather dark adding to the rundown feel of the place. All of that said, you definitely get what you pay for, but I can't help but feel like the rate we paid was still 20% too high.

During the booking process the date on my reservation was accidentally changed. I immediately tried calling the hotel to correct the date, but no one answered. After about 20 minutes I contacted Hilton corporate for help and explained that I still wanted to stay at the property and was only requesting that the reservation be moved forward by one day. I was not asking for a refund--just a simple date change. Corporate told me the property had to approve the request. When they contacted the hotel, the clerk refused to make the change and said there was nothing they could do. I then called the property directly and spoke with an employee named Ron. The customer service during this call was some of the worst I have experienced. I was repeatedly interrupted, placed on hold for about 10 minutes, and spoken to with a very dismissive and confrontational tone. When I tried to explain the situation, Ron responded with "okay, and?" and told me the issue was not his problem and that corporate should have explained it to me. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told the General Manager (Lucero Torres) would not be available until Monday and that there was nothing that could be done. What made this even more frustrating is that at no point did anyone explain whether the hotel was actually fully booked. When I checked availability myself afterward, the Hampton Inn website showed a room available and Hilton's website showed multiple rooms available for that same date at the same location. Despite this, no solution or alternative was offered. I was simply asking to move my reservation by one day and was even willing to transfer to another Hilton property nearby if necessary, but that request was also denied. The level of attitude, lack of professionalism, and unwillingness to assist with such a simple request was extremely disappointing. I'm honestly relieved I will not be staying at this location, but the experience definitely left a negative impression.

Overflow parking is outside in the lot shared with the other hotel. I got to my room and it was just okay. You can't go below 68 degrees. For the hotel-goers in us that like Arctic temperatures to sleep, that may be a problem. I left it on "Auto" at 68 and somehow it bumped up to a humid 78 degrees inside. And a faint smell of urine towards the A/C unit. Now the part where I was just grossed out. The bathroom. There was mold along the bottom of a section of a wall towards the baseboard. It was so bad that I guess maintenance ripped out the portion and it's just black mold. See the photo in my review. The metal trashcan in the bathroom was disgusting. I know Hilton is going the green route, but add a plastic liner or something. Rust and garbage residue is just not visibly appealing. Again, see the photo in my review. The showerhead? It had dried soap scum. Luckily I brought Lysol wipes with me to wipe that down. Made me wonder about the water. The shower area itself? There were long strands of hair everywhere. Some were even stuck to the floor of the shower itself and I just let it be. Recall that I mentioned Hilton going the green route. They only service your room and bathroom every other day of your stay. So if you're in for a weekend stay, they'll just clean it when you check out essentially. I understand it's expensive to staff, but I'm sure the every other day schedule leaves gaps in cleanliness for future guests as indicated by my review. I do not recommend. We were especially impressed with the nice bathroom with large shower and separate tub. Check-in was easy; like an Airbnb a simple code for room entry was provided and payment was made online. The property feels secluded and private and is very well maintained. There were only 4 or 5 rooms, I think, at this property. Each room has its own designated parking space. Like an Airbnb, bring your own amenities; other than soap and towels, nothing else was provided in the bathroom. There is a pool and hot tub but I never even saw either as they were on the back side of the complex and we pretty much just wanted to chill in the room. We planned a stay here just to relax and rediscover what a nap is. The huge downside for us was that the walls here are paper thin. The noise from the room next to us kept us from being able to relax or sleep and even woke us up the following morning. Conversations, the television, and the lovely sounds of snoring could be plainly heard by us. The most irritating noises from next door were the sounds of a babbling toddler who enjoyed running around the room; we were mistaken to think this is an adult-only type of villa. While we loved the room the noise didn't conform with our want of a relaxing vacation space.

Check in was quick and easy. The lobby can get a little loud but not constantly. Our room was on the third floor, unfortunately facing the main road which was a little noisy, but not so bad we couldn't sleep. The hotel itself was very quiet in the evening, maybe because it was weeknights rather than the weekend. The room was clean and well-supplied with towels and toiletries. Plenty of storage. Nice sofa/seating area. I appreciate the hardscape flooring. Not as warm as carpeting, but feels much cleaner. The second day of our stay we came back after wine tasting and our room had been made up and cleaned, even though we said we didn't need it when we checked in, surprising and appreciated. The included breakfast "buffet" was actually pretty good for a small hotel. Fresh, hot eggs, sausage and potatoes, waffle maker, and all the usual options. The coffee was pretty good. Our only real complaint would be the pillows. They were quite small and not firm at all. For a king sized bed, they were not sufficient. If you're looking for a simple, basic place to stay, I would recommend it.

The owners are very responsive and communicate regularly with you by text/email as soon as you make your reservation. Once you arrive, you will hear from them daily by text. They are also on the property daily and easy to reach. The suite was beautiful, and the full kitchen was well equipped with dishes/glasses, pots/pans, all kinds of utensils--a fine cook's dream! However, I am not a fine cook or dreamer so I did zero cooking. And the breakfast delivered to our room each morning was delicious and way better than anything I could have cooked. Still, I appreciated having a full size fridge, dishes/glasses, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker. The suite also had two TVs (one in the living room and one in the bedroom) and a variety of streaming options if you wanted to stay in and watch shows/movies. We did not do too much of that because there are so many great wineries nearby (too little time) and those wineries not only have tasting bars but also restaurants! So we were on the go a lot, and I missed out on sitting on the patio on the property and gazing at the twinkling stars and visiting the cute chickens on the property. The only thing that needs improving is a fix to the sliding closet door (off the track and made it unusable). One day I hope to return to this lovely property and participate in star gazing and chicken meet and greets! P.S. Easy parking, circular driveway if you want to unload the car before parking, and welcoming lobby.

I was a little hesitant to book it because I never stayed at a Bed and Breakfast establishment before. I decided to give it a try after reading great reviews and we really enjoyed our stay. After booking, I received a text which included a list of activities, their favorite wineries, lunch, and dinner suggestions. We ended up booking a couple things based on their suggestions. On the day of our arrival, we received a text letting us know our room was available early. We definitely enjoyed that but we were having lunch and arrived around 3:30pm. The room was beautiful and had a sweet handwritten note on the bed. The hostess (wish I remembered her name) was nice and recommended Altisima for their frozen drinks. We went on a Friday afternoon and it ended up being our favorite winery of the trip. Breakfast was delivered to our door each morning at 9am with a nice setup and it was really good. The breakfast burrito was our favorite. We made coffee afterwards and enjoyed it on the patio overlooking the vineyards. When we returned in the evenings, we turned on the fireplace in the room and just relaxed. It was a relaxing stay. Only one small suggestion would be to add blackout curtains. The sun beamed through the sides and top of the drapes, making it hard to sleep in. Overall, we would definitely return.
