We stayed at this location as we thought it was closer to the airport than some of the other hotels. Make no mistake, it is not right next to the airport... it is somewhat near Terminal 5.
There is no shuttle service to this hotel. There are two options for transportation: Take the Hoppa bus (which is not exactly cheap, and ONLY takes cash... no credit cards), the second option is to take a taxi from the airport. For a new traveler in London, it proved to be quite expensive. We had five people, and they would not let us get into one cab. They forced us to take two cabs at a rate of 35 pounds each. Granted, this is not the hotel's fault, but they should better prepare travelers for what to expect when arriving at Heathrow.
Secondly, this location is NO WHERE NEAR a Tube station. To get to a Tube station, you have to take a public bus for at least 30 minutes, and then it's quite a ride into the city from there. When we were trying to locate a place to purchase Metro/Tube passes, the lady at the front desk was absolutely zero help. Thankfully, we found a small store that sold us passes.
We only had a few hours to see the sights of London, and we wasted nearly two hours dealing with the hotel at check in, and trying to find metro passes. We arrived 20 minutes before "normal" check-in time, and they made us sit in the lobby and wait until it was the proper time. This was absolutely unacceptable, as we had booked reservations via the web weeks earlier.
The rooms were okay. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms were clean and modern, but the walls were marked up and dirty in the room.
Lack of service is what kills this hotel. Poor communication about airport to hotel transfers, and desk staff who were unhelpful. I will say that the lady that checked us out the next day was much better. However, by that point, the damage had already been done. Next time I will stay at EasyHotel. Their service is wonderful. read more
