Hotel 41 is the best hotel I have stayed at by far. All of the staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is magical. They are extremely kind and personable plus the small size of the hotel allows staff to really cater to each guest and their individual needs. The 24 hour snack bar is amazing, I remember one night at around 1am I woke up feeling hungry and decided to grab a pint of ice cream. The person working in the lounge simply greeted me and helped me pick a flavor! I would go back to this place in a heartbeat. The rooms are beautiful and the black and white color scheme makes them feel very sophisticated. I am not exaggerating when I say during my stay my jaw fell to the floor many times because of how shocked I was by the quality of service and beauty of this hotel. If you are able to stay even just for few nights definitely do it! read more

My home away from home. Every time I am in London, which is a few times a year, I stay here. It feels so comfortable and familiar to me, but still feels like I'm getting pampered. I just can't wait until i step into the hallway, head up the elevator and into the lounge for my glass of champagne. Their staff is lovely, everything I have ever needed has been taken care of. Room service is too notch and there's zero judgement when I have multiple cocktails coming to the room and I'm the only one in it! My husbands only complaint is the showers... which he is 6'3ft and had a hard time fitting in them. But it's a give and take! read more

I'm a Californian visiting London for the first time in my life, so keep that in mind when reading my review! We stayed at this beautiful boutique hotel for 3 nights! Savior Beds: We read about the Savoir beds being world famous and felt like we must find a hotel to try those out! Hotel 41 had them and oh my goodness! Perfect combination of soft and firm, I can see why they're all the hype! Service is exceptional: We were greeted with a glass of bubbly and snacks. They have a small bar area with various snacks in 2 hour windows. We got here about 3pm and there was a chips (they call them crisps) and candy bar. The candy was unique and not something I've ever had in the US (I.e. green apple bonbons). They have a mini ice cream fridge with 9 different flavors of ice cream. One of the nights they knew we were going to see Lion King, so they left a note on our mirror. At the last night they gave us a letter and survey. They left us goodies every night - macarons, a chocolate wafer, and pillow scent. They helped us call cabs a couple times. They really do care here! Esthetics: Unique, boutique, and built in the 1700s. Decor is Edwardian Era style per their website. I personally loved how it looked, but for those that like a more minimalistic look, this may not be for you. You walk in and see printed tiles, gold frames, lots of mirrors, red carnation and white orchids florals, antique books, wooden bookshelves, chandeliers, a giant globe. The hallways are small and elevator can at most hold 4 people. Rooms: sizeable. We had a kind sized bed, a velvet black couch, nespresso machine, a cupboard with a tv and fridge. There is a remote for the black out curtain, cool to have automated curtains but whoa so noisy! The hotel itself has very low noise level, and I loved that! Bathrooms: Very clean. You have a standing shower and a tub shower. They even have a towel heater! Wasn't a huge fan of: very small countertop space in the bathroom. -You have to have all the light on to pick and choose which other ones you need on. You cannot simply have the bathroom light on. -WiFi is spotty and unpredictable. On the 5th floor where the rooms are, I wasn't able to connect at all. Then I found out I can in the bathroom and lobby area only. -They claim the main service area is open 24/7. On one of the nights we came back at 11pm hoping for a snack and the lights were out and it was closed. Disappointing they probably assume no one will come based on small size and number of guests. Breakfast: Yum! I was impressed by the extensive options of things included. I got coffee, omelettes and orange juice. Eco-Friendly: they wash your sheets every other night to conserve water, unless if you request otherwise. Rooftop: Super cute! Wish we were there on a warmer night to enjoy it fully. One of my favorite hotels. Definitely in my top 5 in the world. Why? Because the service here is unparalleled. It's has if you are staying at an exclusive club. We only spent two nights here on our travels but I wish we had stayed more. There is an "executive lounge" that is just the best. Whatever you need, they will get for you. I'm hesitant to leave this review as I'm afraid of how popular this hotel will become and would prefer that it continue as London's best kept secret. However, credit should be given where credit is due. Aside from the stunning rooms and amazingly elegant lounge, in truth, it is the staff that raises things to the next level. Every single person my wife and I encountered during our 4 night stay was not only congenial, but beyond accommodating. They repeatedly went out of their way to ensure that every need was met, and exceeded. I cannot give enough praise. In a word...opulent! - Worthy of 10 stars Black and white and oak all over can only scratch the surface of descriptions used to describe this GORGEOUS hotel. I never met a chesterfield sofa that i did not love..my goodness, i could have camped out in the main lounge ..it was all sexy library, with it's books,leather sofas and fireplace. The executive king room was stellar! super comfy king size bed dressed in the finest linens, a large desk, sitting room and a glorious tub. look, the amenities alone far exceed many hotels i have stayed at...BUT, The absolute highest standard for me was their customer service, Every employee was not only super professional and knowledgeable but genuinely nice and as charming as this Boutique Hotel. This was absolutely the best hotel we have ever stayed at EVER. We have stayed at Four Season properties, Mandarin Orientals, etc so we know 5 star, and Hotel 41 is on another stratosphere from even those brands and experiences. There is no where else I would stay if I was in London again. The layout of the property very much lends itself to a VIP feel. The entrance is an unassuming set of double doors next to the more obvious hotel entrance to the Rubens property. You can really only tell you're at Hotel 41 from its banner flying above and it requires a hotel key card to even access the building. Once inside, you are whisked up to the fifth floor. The entire boutique hotel takes up only this floor so its very easy to navigate and also very intimate. The lobby and restaurant of the hotel called the Executive Lounge is where the staff will bring you for check in, complete with some Rosé or champagne and a tour of the property and your room. This is where you'll get your intro to how fabulous the staff are. Initially there was some confusion about who we were. They thought we were some couple when we entered the hotel and then "the Parkers" when we were taken to the lounge. Only one other instance when a note was sent to our room for the "Bubs" were we mis-labeled but I really can't fault them for that because other then these 3 instances, every single staff member knew our names and would greet us instantly by those names. HOW are you guys this good! I understand if staff we came in contact with previously would know our names and that its a smaller hotel but the fact that ALL the staff, even people we hadn't met yet knew our names! Get outta town; THAT is service! Then there are the amentities which we took full advantage of. Get yourself well acquinted with the Executive Lounge because you don't want to miss out on this gem. The plunder pantry here is such a treat with all the quality hot and cold free food you can get anytime of day. We loved ending the night here grabbing some free ice cream to take to our rooms as a night cap or getting some free sparkling or still water. Also don't miss having breakfast here. I can say that there was nothing quite like cozying up on a comfy couch during a rainy morning with the water tapping on the skylight above, enjoying some warm tea and delicious food around the rich mahagony and books of the study. Its the best way to start the day! I miss that room so much even now writing this. Our room was also a quiet, great retreat to come back to after a long day of siteseeing. We were located near the elevators but surprisingly never heard a peep from them or any guests. Our windows had views of the Royal Mews though its a bit hindered by the concrete railing of the building. When we arrived there was a tray of mini desserts to welcome us (all delish!). The bed was super comfortable and I thought the room was pretty spacious. I also loved the number of outlets available for charging pretty much everywhere; we didn't even need to bring our global chargers! The only things we didn't like about our room was probably more toward us not being big international travellers and not knowing the way of things. We were really confused with how the lights worked. It seemed like you couldn't turn all the lights off unless you flicked off the master switch. I know there must have been a way to turn on/off different light combinations because of how the turn down staff would set up the room (rose petals and candles!) but we never got the hang of it. We also weren't fans of the rainfall shower heads. You get a shower and a bath/shower combo in the bathroom but we used the bath/shower combo because we kept making a slippery mess trying to keep the water from spilling out of the tub; I could see myself making an even bigger mess from the shower. The tub was also super tall to climb in and out of so you pretty much had to use the hand rail to even attempt to get in or out without slipping. Regardless of all that, it didn't put a damper on our thoughts on the property at all. The staff would leave various turn down goodies each night and one day we even came back to find a decorative tin of shortbread cookies from Buckingham Palace. The very same tin, I might add, that I had wanted to buy and had decided against because I'd already purchased a bunch of other decorative tins full of teas at other tourist sites. I never told the staff this so they must be psychic. I really can't wrap my mind around this level of service. This hotel is the end all be all of 5 star luxury hotels. It's location is steps from Buckingham Palace, many other tourist sites, and prime underground and coach stations as well as a quick walk to the West End for shows. If you are going to London do not consider anything else. You will have the best possible trip if you pick this place; I guarentee it. read more

Hotel 41 is the hotel by which I will unfairly judge all other hotels. From the moment you enter the understated lobby door of this elegant and exclusive refuge, you're greeted by name, offered your choice of four different champagnes, taken on a tour of the hotel, and shown to your room. The experience revolves around the Executive Lounge as the hub of activity. Come here for a drink, a snack or a full meal, play a game of chess, or thumb through one of the numerous books from the extensive library. At 41, someone is not only waiting, but eager to assist you in any way possible. From the "whatever whenever" button on the phone in the room, to the staff in the lounge, the level of service is unbelievable and unequaled by anywhere I've ever been. If the person at the reception desk is busy with another guest, another staff member pops out and stands next to the desk, ready to answer any potential questions. It's in the aforementioned impeccable service that I continue to find myself dumbfounded. The service is attentive (but not overly so), flawless, and most importantly, GENUINE. Throughout your stay they'll ask you what you've got planned for the day and offer suggestions. When you return, they remember where you went and ask how it was. Just hanging out in the lounge? They've got some great stories to share and are masters of substantive chatting. Not sure what to do? That's covered, too. Heading out for the day? Checking out? They proactively offer snacks and bottled water to go. One gentleman even offered me a takeaway glass of wine as we were heading out for an evening stroll through Hyde Park. 'Can I do that? Is that legal?', I asked, to which he replied, nonchalantly 'Well, no I guess not, but nobody's going to stop you.' Hilarious, and awesome. Another brief example: this is a classy hotel, obviously. But when my wife and I walked into the lounge following the Secret Cinema performance of The Empire Strikes Back--fully decked out in Star Wars costumes--they didn't even flinch. I was embarrassed and hesitant as we walked into the low-lit, wood-paneled lounge, in search of water and preemptively apologized for my silly appearance. I was earnestly and simply informed that this was my home away from home, and that I can do as I please. Still, I can admit it isn't perfect. For example, the furniture in our Executive King room was slightly worn down, to include a small crack near the top of one of the TV cabinet doors, and squeaky closet doors. Additionally, the food is not particularly spectacular, but it is good enough. For example, my Eggs Benedict was served with hard poached eggs, as opposed to the more traditional softer eggs. But, the service enables even the most critical or sharp-eyed hotel guests to overlook these comparatively minor issues. It's a splurge for sure (as evidenced by the swanky "Yelpy Warbucks" badge I earned when I checked in here) but it's money well spent for the incredible experience of 41. I don't know how they've curated such an incredible staff. It's beyond an effective training program, it's a shared vision. I've never before witnessed this level of universal buy-in to the vision of an organization (especially one that requires such hard work), but they've done it and in it created a rare experience that lives up to every bit of praise and hype it's awarded, and is truly as good as it gets. read more

My husband and took a belated anniversary trip to London for a week last month and we wanted to live it up, so we booked an executive king room at Hotel 41 as part of an American Airlines vacation package. The cab from Heathrow airport nearly missed the hotel because it's on a busy street with no place to legally pull over and unload. Entering the hotel is like walking into a private home--dark wood paneling, black and white checkered floor, snack and light beverages, candy canes--and the staff is extremely attentive. While the foyer is on the ground floor, the rooms and Executive Lounge are all on the 5th floor. To check in you go up to the Executive Lounge, a gorgeous atrium library that is the "heart" of the hotel and where you can have breakfast, snacks, drinks, or just sit and read or watch TV. Since our hotel room was quite small by American standards, it was nice to be able to retreat to the Executive Lounge when we wanted more room and a change of scenery. The hotel is located two blocks from Victoria Station and two blocks from Buckingham Palace. It was quite convenient and we walked everywhere the entire week. We only took the Tube once, but we walked to and from the Barbican Theatre, Kensington Palace, Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Picadilly, Harrods department store, Parliament, etc. London is a fabulous walking city and you really get a sense of the place from walking instead of taking cabs and buses. My only real complaint about the hotel, which was accommodating in every way, was the way "plunder the pantry" worked. Plunder the pantry is the hotel's unique offering of free snacks and food throughout the day. There is always an assortment of beautifully wrapped nuts and candies, and bagged crisps (chips) that you can take with you, and at night they put out a spread of what is basically light dinner fare. All of the "pantry" food is included in the price of your room. You can "plunder" the pantry as much as you like, all day, every day. It sounds perfectly wonderful, but in actuality it's not that useful. Maybe we just don't eat that much, but their light dinner offering was often a strange assortment of cold meats and fish, terrines, and warmed little bowls of food that had been left out too long. It was not appetizing at all. Yet, while the plunder the pantry food is all free, the only beverage included for free is still water. There is a little fridge in the lounge that has soft drinks, Fever Tree sparkling juices, and sparkling water, all of which are charged to your room if you take one. When I wanted a glass of orange juice, they were happy to serve me one, but it cost £4 (about $6). Maybe I'm in the minority but I was really irritated that a luxury hotel of this caliber serves unlimited "pantry" food, nuts, snacks, and candies (and even has a little cart of luxury soaps free for your taking) but charges for non-alcoholic drinks. It is a stingy practice. Who wants free cold duck when I'm being charged $6 for an orange juice? Additionally, the prices for alcoholic drinks were criminal. A small cosmopolitan cost £17, which at the time was $26. For one. Aside from the food/bar issue, we really did enjoy the hotel. It's a very small boutique hotel, with 40 rooms total (all on the 5th floor). The staff is extremely attentive (almost too much so at times, but they are all so nice), and make sure you have everything you need and want (even if it costs you money). Would I stay at Hotel 41 again? Probably not. As lovely as it was, I'm not sure it was worth what we spent. read more

My mother and I called 41 our home from home during our first-ever trip to London last Christmas--and lucky for us we chose to splurge. Not inexpensive is this boutique establishment, tucked away atop the Rubens at the Palace... but the superlative experience you're guaranteed here is a bargain at any price. This is a more extensive review than I typically write, but if you're considering staying at 41, you're contemplating a significant investment, and you'll want details. And I'll provide them... I came down with a *nasty* case of the flu on our second day in London, and we ended up spending more of our waking hours in the hotel than we ever would have planned. Fortunately 41 boasts a set of facilities that made this a pleasure unto itself. "Staying in for the morning... or afternoon... or evening" became a treat, rather than a disappointment. The staff was gracious and proactive--nigh telepathic--in anticipating our needs: from laundry (pricey; you should know that up front. But crucial, given our situation) to fresh towels, to extraordinary flexibility regarding maid service (I was sleeping in at ridiculous, unpredictable hours!) to cough drops and tea and extra blankets and a thousand other small but much-appreciated kindnesses. And you'll need to know in advance how you plan to tip these people, because they're much too decorous to render a suggestion about something so personal. I mean that as a compliment, by the way. It's part of the hospitality, and to me, it's part of the charm. The concierge re-arranged our planned outings at a moment's notice, based on how I was feeling. By the time we'd come to the end of our stay (and I'd conquered my bout with the flu--!), his cleverness meant that we'd missed only one of the events we'd hoped to attend while in town... a small miracle, and I'm still not sure how he managed it. We also took the majority of our meals in the hotel; elsewhere it might have felt like a punishment, but the kitchen staff went out of their way to prepare something a little different each time. And that something different was unfailingly *delicious.* We put 41 to the test, in other words, and they lived up to their motto: "No request too large; no detail too small." Excellent both for business and leisure travelers... thoughtful and stylish design touches throughout... unbeatable, Tube-friendly location across the street from Buckingham Palace (which meant that, even though we couldn't get out to enjoy the New Year's Eve festivities, we still felt very much a part of them, right from our room!)... This place costs an arm and a leg (and maybe your first born) but it's worth EVERY PENNY! I want to especially give a shout out to Lauren, Remus, and Laura... they went out of their way to make sure we had an unforgettable stay!! You are served champagne while you are checking in. There is an amazing spread of food 24 hours a day (Plunder the pantry) where you can get snacks and drinks...and in the evening, there are delicious desserts and small "meals" like sheppards pie or salami & cheese boards. There are only 28 rooms here, so they are able to focus 100% on serving you!! The hotel decor is BEAUTIFUL and there is NOTHING they won't do for you if you ask!! Even if they don't have whatever it is, they will go BUY IT!! They offer turn down service every night and leave a little suprise (candy) along with the following days weather forecast to help you plan your day. Just a couple years ago, me and my dad traveled to England for a week long trip. We stayed the whole week here and we both loved the hotel. The service was amazing and the staff were incredibly kind. They welcomed us with drinks when we signed in and showed us to our room. Every day, we got a amazing breakfast, and they also knew our schedule and one night even gave us dessert themes for the next days adventure. My name is very unusual and for the first time, I met a sweet staff member who had the exact same name as me and they even gave me a special hotel 41 pin with my name on it. Very expensive but worth every farthing! I've stayed in a regular room (lovely) and a suite (heavenly). Every inch of the experience is beyond amazing. The decor, the staff, food, location, view, I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. I'm pretty sure the manager has a crystal ball; they have the most attentive personnel I've ever experienced. From a brief chat at check-in, they ascertained our plans and anticipated our every need. Lovely fruit basket and fresh flowers in our room, and because we were a little early and our room was not yet perfect, they offered complimentary drinks for something totally not their fault! This is the greatest place ever. The staff are so warm and welcoming. Florent especially made our stay so enjoyable. My 1 year old daughter has a severe egg allergy, and Florent took this condition as seriously as my wife and I do. He took it upon himself to personally ensure any meals or snacks prepared for her were egg free. This meant a lot to us. He also bought her a stuffed Corgi (like the Queens). The is my favourite london hotel, and nearly my favourite overall hotel. It's located close to Victoria train station and the shopping. The hotel is a 5 star hotel situated on the 5th floor of the Rubens hotel. The theme it black and white, and everything in the room follows this. The quality is high and the service is excellent. There is a main sitting room (not sure what to call it) where there is a selection of comfy chairs and a honesty bar. In the evening they have a selection of food in the fridge and if you feel peckish you can help yourself. I highly recommend the hotel, especially is going to london isn't something you enjoy, as you can hide in this hotel and pretend your anywhere. read more

Wow!!!! I walked into the room and told me husband they must have thought it was our honeymoon! Our room was set with a very special and beautiful flower arrangement, chocolate cover strawberries and other sweets, a chilled bottle of champagne and a warm fire on a cold night. It doesn't get more romantic. You can "raid the pantry " for an afternoon pick me up. And the room has an amazing bathroom with soaking tub and shower. The staff is amazing! read more

We stayed for 4 nights on the first leg of our trip. This is a very cute (and small) boutique hotel. Service is exceptional. The pantry is open and free except for alcohol, but breakfast is 25 pounds per person if you desire it. We stayed in an executive suite which was small but comfortable. No gym but they will give you passes to a small (and somewhat dirty) LA fitness down the block. I just returned from London and stayed the last two nights at 41. It's very pricey and we didn't want to spend the entire week there, but it was a special treat to be there at the end of our time across the pond. Staff was wonderful...rooms spacious and beautiful, the lounge even better looking than on the website. This would be a great place to stay with a loved one for a special occasion. Breakfast is not included, and we didn't eat there, except for late at night, when you can raid the refrigerator in the lounge for cold cuts, cheese, salad, fruit, etc... after the show. That is free! The location is also great, only a block from Victoria station, so the tube and above ground trains to outlying areas are very handy. The Queen's Gallery is across the street, and they currently have an amazing photographic exhibition of the antarctic explorers of the last century. Just the right size for a one hour visit. Cute bistro just down the street, Bubbles, served up English food with a culinary twist. read more
