This was the first time going to Polish Me Nails for my friend and I. We called ahead and had scheduled two manicures, one gel and one regular nail polish. My tech was nice and asked me about my day and talked with me for a bit. The tech working on my friend kept asking if she wants gel and really tried pushing her to change her mind, which was a turn off. By the end of the experience, both of the edges of our nails were rough and the manicure overall wasn't great- the polish was even on our skin around the nail making it look messy. We chose a lighter color, which needed an extra coat, but they only gave me one coat of color with clear on top. If i could give zero stars I would! I'm here in San Diego on business and I was on my morning stroll to the Liberty Market and I passed by Holic Nails and Spa on the way. I had the time and I noticed no one was in there around 1030a. Ashley performed my pedicure. I can't verify if that was even her actual name, that's what they told me over the phone when I called back to inquire. I requested a gel pedicure and I told her I had regular polish on my toes. After removing the polish she then clipped my toe nails so short to the skin and when she filed my big toe on my left foot she cut my skin. The pedicure was uncomfortable for the duration of the service. She tried to upsell me on a fancy $78 pedicure but I opted for the $48 one which had an add on of $18 on top of that for gel polish. I expressed my concern about how my toe was in pain after the cut and she put alcohol on it and some type of ointment with a bandaid. I went to pay and the total cost was $68 and some change and I asked for a discount because of the injury and she quoted me $2! I said no, you injured me and I could possibly get an infection you should take $20 off. She looked at me with a look of total shock and agreed to take $20 off. I ended up paying $47.82. I paid with a debit card so there was a fee to use my card. I should've received the service for free. The work as shown in the pictures are terrible! The cuticle work, nail clipping, shaping and polish application was horrible! As a licensed nail technician myself I would not spend one dollar here. Proceed with caution. Place is clean and conveniently located, but I find them to be over priced for the quality. I've tried several times - dip, gel, acrylic, hard gel.... My nails ALWAYS chip, crack or peel within days. I'd like to start by saying I am not a fan of leaving a poor review, but I am forced to do so after already voicing my concerns to the nail techs and being rebutted. Ladies- they reuse their equipment without sanitizing it! I witnessed this. The pink abrasive sponge used to scrub calluses was put back in the basket with all the others....clearly, this is not being thrown out. Also, the metal callus remover was simply rinsed (in my foot tub) and again, put back in the cart and wheeled to another client's chair. I confronted several nail techs about this and they vehemently denied reusing their items and insisted they either throw it after (single-use) or sterilize it. So....why did that metal file not get put in the sanitizer after use? I know what I saw.... As far as the service, my polish never dried. And looking closely at my toes, the nails aren't fully painted either...but my skin is! I feel awful leaving such a poor review, but when I "treat" myself to a pedicure and pay over $35, I do expect a clean and positive experience. Being that this is a non-essential amenity, I will choose to take my business elsewhere. I also just don't want other people's germs! read more

I have ZERO complaints on the fill (I have acrylic nails), I love the color, the shape, and the length, but the designs missed the mark... by a LOT. I asked for the "sweater" look and a plaid design. Nope nope nope. While I appreciate the effort to recreate what I wanted, it's not even close. I was clearly not happy with the designs, and they did notice, but I paid and left. Pretty rough experience but I'll start with the positive which is why I'm giving a second star: the service was super quick and the nail tech I had was nice. I went in and had gel removed and SNS applied (kind of) and it took less than an hour so that was a nice surprise. However, it's been less than 48 hours and I've had 3 nails break and another two crack just doing normal things like opening doors and getting my laptop out of my bag. I was a little suspicious when the nail tech didn't put on any clear SNS as a base or any sort of base coat and started immediately with the color and didn't do any sort of hard top coat, UV light, etc. Unfortunately, I'm in San Diego for work and I won't have time to go back to get the nails fixed or taken off before they close and before I leave tomorrow, which means I'll have to go to another salon and pay to get them removed on top of the $50 I'd already paid. I called and said I'd be happy to send over photos if it meant there was any chance for a partial refund or even a credit for a future visit but the person I spoke to just kept talking over me saying "we don't do that." read more

Not a fan. My 4th visit today will be my last. The first and second visits were fine - nothing special but the facility was clean, and the products offered were reasonable. On my third visit I opted for the gel polish which they quoted one price but when the bill came, it was double. Today they charged me $10 to remove the gel. Then the hard press to upgrade my selected services to something more expensive. The choir of workers were near relentlessly. As I left and said "thank you" and "goodbye", no one acknowledged me, even though I left a 20% tip. Incredibly rude it's shocking. 2nd time I've tried this place (out of location convenience) thinking the gal was just having a bad day the 1st time. A different lady today who would not look at me or respond when I asked a question. I told her I already shaped my nails and they are paper thin to no acknowledgment. She proceeded to aggressively file the tops of my nails down not stopping when I said ouch as she's raking her file over my cuticles. I then asked for the color I had on since I didn't see it at which point she stopped my manicure 1/2 way through and demanded I pay and leave. I'm flabbergasted. This was my first time going into this salon, and I left super disappointed. I went in asking for a dip mani with designs, and left with mismatching nail designs, and SO much product under my nails still. I wanted a blue color with flower designs. We picked the flowers together, but once she got the first one on my right ring finger (which, now that i look at it, is missing part of the petal on the top ), she realized she didn't have the matching ones for my left ring finger. She clearly didn't want to change out the flower to match my new flower after i asked - but to be fair, I didn't push hard after asking that one time. About it halfway through the design process, she had a walk-in show up. It felt like she checked out around that point - she never cleaned up my nails, leaving significant product under my nails. It was super uncomfortable - so much so, that I turned around halfway home to get her to clean it up. She cleaned it up quickly, but it was still messier than my normal salon's work - there was still powder clearly on my fingers. TLDR; That was the last time I'll ever cheat on my normal salon. definitely not coming back to this place, as it was way too messy and half assed. read more

I specifically asked for a mani/pedi and pointed to the one I wanted on the sheet to confirm. The woman kept insisting something else and I told her no and I thought she understood. She proceeded to assure me that what she was doing was the option I wanted and not some special. Right away, I already knew the vibe of what was to come next during checkout. I wasn't surprised that she charged +30 for the thing I did not want and looked like a kid who made a mistake, yet this was an adult who knew what she was doing. I didn't make a scene yet said that wasn't what I asked for for what you were charging. I paid and did not tip and walked out. A shame to because she did a phenomenal job. I'm just not with the games, albeit scam, pretending not to understand when you know full well what is going on. Separately no one picks up the phone there. Other than that, the place was clean and the staff does great nail work -- I'm just not sure why they would run game on new clients. There are other places in the city who may do better work and sincere. For men looking to get a mani/pedi bring your spouse or partner as they could probably smell I was a fish out of water. Just a fair warning, I'm not a complainer. My friends big toes also got infected with pus. PUS came out of my middle finger and it was painful. My big toes also have redness around them. I went in for a dip manicure and regular pedicure. The woman who did my dip manicure left the powder residue on my hands the entire time I got my pedicure (pedicure was done by another lady). I asked during my pedicure if I could get something to wipe my hands because of all the powder residue, the woman doing my pedicure said it would be fine, and I could wait to the end to wash my hands. I washed my hands five times with soap and water to try to get the residue off. It would not come off. I let the lady who did the dip know the residue would not come off. She told me to go wash my hands more. I let her know I washed my hands several times, and it would not come off. Another nail technician had to step in and try to resolve the issue. All she could do was cut my skin off with cuticle cutters to get the blue off and it still did not come off all the way. read more

New full set started falling off within 2 days... they would not replace with the normal product I used for free. I had new nails put on and on the 2 days they started to come off. On the second day I asked to have them put back on and they did not have time at requested time. On the third day 5 nails came off and I could easily put all them off. I requested to have a different type of nail be put on because the product they suggested and used did not work on me and I was leaving town. They would not do this without charge and expected me to pay them again for a new set. When requesting a new set they tried to tell me I had requested this new type of nail. Which I had not - I did not even know this type of nail process existed. I had simply requested the nail be placed furtherdown on my nail bed. She suggested this new process. In my opinion, this is not good customer service and I do not feel taken care of as a customer. read more

First time coming here, the lady was very nice, I felt she did a great job on my nails. They sat me down right away and we're polite. 2 days later I came back to get them fixed because half of my nail popped off, and the coroner of another nail was chipped. I asked if they could fix it, know one came to the desk to assist, they turned me away and said they did not have time today and to try to come back tomorrow. Did not even look at my nails, did not ask if I could wait a few minutes for someone to come take a look. I tried asking if I could schedule a time and one of the ladies ignored me. I called a few minutes later to schedule a time and they asked if they could call me back, they didn't ask for my number or name. I highly do not recommend this salon, you would be better spending your money and time else where. You will get better service for sure! Edited: Just called again due to not hearing anything back, they wanted to charge me $10, horrible customer service, extremely rude people. I paid $60 for this 2 days ago, horrible quality.
