Go for a whopper walk up along the river, go over to the obelisk and imagine what it would have been like to have been hanging out with the Connolys and Johnathan Swifts and the likes, get a bitta wind in your hair, then get yourself over into the Courtyard Cafe in the grounds of the wonderful Castletown House, and get the warmth back in you. Get a nice sambo or hot meal and a lovingly made hot chocolate and cake to finish. You'll walk home with a spring in your step, guaranteed.

Delicious potatoe leek soup with tasty oatmeal bread. A goat cheese and beetroot salad for her ladyship and a club sandwich and fries for me. Matt the owner asked if I was hungry since this was aot of food. Everything was delicious and washed down with a nice pot of tea. The milk is served in tiny steel milk cans. Matt was right BTW I'd ordered too much to eat and finished my club sandwich this morning for breakfast. We were going shopping next door to cafe I had no change in me and you need some to get a shopping cart. Matt kindly gave me a Euro coin to use ( it's refundable when you return cart ).Thank you sir. This is no chain coffee shop, the quality is way ahead of that. They also sell the beans so if you fine a variant that you really love you can bring it home with you. The lads that run the place and work in it are really friendly and will happily chat with you, especially on the characteristics of the current offerings. The place is clean, comfortable although can sometime be a little busy at the weekend. I often like to drop in and just sit at the counter as enjoy a coffee. I haven't really eaten there but they definitely have more options than they originally did. I must pop in for a sandwich some day soon to try it out for lunch. The only negative I could point to is that there is no immediate parking outside. You need to park over in the abbey car park and walk the 100m to the shop itself. It's no real hardship really. Having said that there have been a few times when the lovely Irish weather has prevented me from doing this. I really can't say enough good things about this place. I'm not crazy on the french brioche toast. When I had it it was just like eating cold brioche that had been brushed with a bit of egg.. I prefer to have my french toast hot and well 'soaked'. I've been here so many times for Breakfast and lunch - I'd recommend both. For lunch Everything I've had has been good - Soup, cheese tartlets, wraps..etc. They also do a 'Operation Transformation' lunch menu when the programme is on - if your watching your diet ;) Everything time I've been here the food has always been good and I will always go back. Service is good and the girls there are very attentive, friendly and most importantly helpful. They also have a selection of gluten free treats and dishes. Always a plus!
