Love the pork chops here! Thick and juicy, cooked to perfection. Far better than anything I can make at home! Chicken is good as well, as are the port chops. And love their pulled pork. It is a little hole in the wall with great food. Call ahead to place your order - they cook the chops to order, one of the reasons they are so good, so it takes a while if you just stop in to place an order. Great place to grab a nice "home cooked" dinner on those nights you don't feel like cooking. I only wish their side dishes were a little bit better - they aren't bad by any means, but I think they could be a little better. Still is a place we return to often! read more

Over rated! I saw the high rating on yelp so I thought I'd try this place again. The first time I got the ribs which were premade then thrown on the grill, no flavor nothing special. Tried it again today this time tried the pulled pork sandwich and honestly I could make a better sandwich in my crock pot. In what should be a BBQ place there is no wonderful smoke smell there is just bland food.. And if this is a haven for hog? The hog got the bums rush... Just awful. Brisket sandwich was served without any BBQ sauce & we didn't get any on the side (had to ask for it). The brisket tasted like pot roast- it was not "brisket" by a long shot! Fries were mediocre & the Mac and cheese was literally noodles dunked in fake nacho "cheese" sauce! To top it off, the decor could use some major help. We went there Saturday night, it was our first time. We ordered the pork chop dinner and the beef brisket sandwich. The food took approximately 1 hr. Seating isn't great there and there was so many people waiting. I really felt sorry for the 1 person who was doing everything. She answered the phone, took orders, was the cashier and in between cooked all the food on the grill including the fries and oven browns in the fryer. The food was pretty good but I don't know that it was worth the wait. The pork chop didn't come with bbq sauce on it and we weren't asked if we wanted any. The brisket sandwich really didn't have much taste and it had a little bit of sauce. read more

If you dig on swine this place is for you! While there always seem to be a place that specializes in humungus pork chop sandwiches, this one delivers! Aside from the pork chops, they also have real tasty ribs - sauce is nice and sweet, and meat is juicy as well. Haven't had their sides other than the fries, which are average, and coleslaw, which are a bit too creamy for my taste. I always wanted to try some of their selections, but always seem to end up getting the pork chop or ribs...You will have to call well ahead of time for the food to be ready! read more

I work in Chicago and I frequent a spot named Hog Wild in Midlothian a place known for their chops and I never thought I'd find a spot with juicier and more well seasoned chops than them. Well I still haven't found that spot however, I have found a very close second in Hog Haven. They make one hell of a pork chop! Besides being huge, it's seasoned well and grilled to perfection. That's why you may have a longer than usual wait for your food. But to me the chop is worth the wait. And unlike Hog Wild who serves fries with their chop(I don't care much for fries) Haven gives you the choice of fries or oven browns which I think go much better with the chop.Unfortunately I haven't ordered anything else to judge (the Chop's been my go to meal) but I was eating in there once when a gentleman ordered the slab of ribs and man did they look good! The only thing I can tell you to stay away from is the little apple bosco stick dessert thing they have, not good at all. However, if you want a delicious pork chop in NW Indiana, Hog Haven is your spot! The slow service is one of the reasons that kept me from giving them a 5star review. Hog Wild makes pork chops the same as Hog Haven, but at Hog Wild your order is done by the time you're done paying! read more

I got the tenderloin sandwich and it was extremely yummy!! Very juicy and tender and seasoned just right!! My hubby got the rib tips and WOW!!! We were sooo impressed with this place!! And the prices were not bad at all either!! -- not sure what that negative reviewer was all about prior.. It almost made us not try it but we were in the mood for BBQ and decided to give it a try ourselves.... So glad we did!!! Staff was very helpful and friendly too!!! read more

This place is great for some grilled food. The only time I eat pork chops is when I come here. Expect 20 min to a half hour for anything so calling ahead is the norm. Trust me it's well worth the wait. Also upgrade to the oven browns instead of fries, the fries are good but the oven browns are even better. read more

I've been getting rib tips here for the past 6 years and have never had a bad batch. The meat is always lean and great flavor and tender. However I got some tips this past weekend and they changed their rub or something. The meat was too salty and it seems I got cheated and only got half rib tip dinner as opposed to the full I ordered (this wouldn't be the first time this happened with the portions). Ill try again but if im not satisfied, off to search for another spot. read more

I visit Hog Haven probably once a month for their famous Pork Chop sandwich, but last weekend I had family in from out of town so we decided to order from the rest of the menu. The ribs are amazing, like, Chicago's Smoque, Honky Tonk, Honey One good...and here it is right in Dyer. The guy that runs the place is extremely friendly and gives great suggestions on what to order. Do give yourself time (call ahead if possible) for the BBQ takes a little time to prepare. read more

We live in the southern suburbs and our grandchildren in Indianapolis so we often drive by (Rte 30) on the way to or from. We passed this "nothing to look at" "hole in the wall) many times and finally decided to stop! Best stop we have ever made. There was a BIG problem: Ribs, Pork Chop, or tips? I tried the Pork Chop and the rest is history. But wait, there more.... The owner let me try the tips and at our next visit, and most since we place the following order: Pork Chop with extra pork chop (cheaper), Rib dinner and Rib tips. Why so much? Simple MORE Meals later. Better than left overs! I have never had such a challenge as to what to order at any restaurant! NICE kind of problem. Since we are 30 minutes away, I make the trip worthwhile by ordering more than we plan to eat there! My daughter recently ordered their BBQ Chicken and now HAVE to add that to the order! My wife and I fought over the chicken last night! It is great! There cubed potatoes are great and their slaw is some of the best I have tasted. My wife an I decided to try this place as I was given a gift certificate. I was hesitant at first to order the beef brisket. I will tell you it was the best decision for the day. The wife had thenpulled pork sandwich and finished it. She is not a big eater but polished that plate clean. The brisket was melt in your mouth. We told the owner Rob it was our first time there. He decided to let us try a couple pieces of rib tip. They were totally amazing An can't wait to come back for those. Kinda sad I hadn't been here earlier. Great food. Large portions. My husband had brisket, which was dry and burnt. It had no real flavor but the sauce that was on it. The sauce was just regular, nothing special sauce. The pulled pork tasted like it was done and reheated. Several times. It didn't taste fresh at all. I was super disappointed since people rave about their pork chops. Like if you can mess that up, then the rest should be good too, right? It was also a 45 min wait time to pick up my call in order and when I got there it wasn't busy at all. Me and my wife dine here when ever we get the chance and have tried a lot of the GIANT menu all of them are freshly made and DeLish . I generally order rib tips or the giant pork chop which is the best you will ever eat !! when I was told they are adding fried chicken to the menu I couldn't wait to try it. though it wasn't on the menu yet I did get to try a sample .. today was our very first time there and we were VERY disappointed!!!! they grill up gross fatty meats and hand you a plastic cup of store bought BBQ sauce and call it BBQ... we had the brisket sandwich & I ordered the farmers philly chicken. first of all, they acted like we were bothering them.. but our food was nicely presented in huge portions but then that was demolished by seeing that the fries were burned and not edible and the meat was 75% FAT and hard to chew... plus my sandwich wasn't even a philly.. after closer inpection I actually got their chicken sandwich with 2 small slices of a red pepper on it with maybe 5 pieces of diced onion... we paid $28 for those 2 meals, 2 pops & mozerella sticks... the mozerella sticks and pop were the only things edible..
