This place has been steadily going downhill, in my opinion. This time they were out of fresh ribs at the dinner hour, on a Friday???! Come on, really???! They were willing to sell me the last of yesterday's ribs though. No thanks. They were out of beans, too. I ended up having to settle for their onion rings, which used to be really good, but these were just over-cooked. The pulled pork was definitely yesterday's, though it was probably excellent...yesterday. It still had good smoke, but was dry, nonetheless. I still come because it's close to the house and I keep hoping it will get better, but sadly, it doesn't. New management, please! read more

I have been eating out a lot lately can't you tell?! lol Anyway, stopped in here because I had a taste for bbq. The menu has a decent variety options. The food was good but not great. I had the smoked chicken. I thought it would be pulled chicken. It was a grilled chicken breast cut like strips. I could taste the smoke flavor but it was a little dry. The potato salad and cole slaw were both awful. To think, I traded the slaw for the potatoe salad. The slaw was a bit tart and too much mayonnaise or whatever the white sauce was. The potatoe salad I don't even know how to explain it so just view the photo. I didn't care much for the bbq sauces either. I like a more tangy taste and thinner substance. They were all too thick. The corn bread was excellent and taste like a vanilla pound cake. The atmosphere felt pretty dead, too quiet like a library. I asked the cashier to play some music and so she did. The service was excellent. Both cashiers were very pleasant and accommodating. It is also very pretty inside. Juicy, flavorful, and just the right amount of spice to it. That's basically my description of the meats at firewater bbq and brew! The restaurant is clean and spacious (though our table was a bit sticky but I'm unsure if it's because of the wax coating or something else). Anyways, the food here is great. We even brought more to take home to share with our family. I think what won me over was the self serve sides station. I really liked how I was able to eat as much pickles and jalapeños as I wanted with my meal. It's great! Will drop by again for sure. read more

Ive been here at least 8 times but I always forget to take the time to place a review. The bbq is great and the restaurant is always clean . Unfortunately today the lady that took my order (6/7/25) At 3:20pm had a bit of an attitude. In a world where everything is expensive having good customer service is important . Especially considering that there is at least 5 more bbq businesses in the Vicinity. I ordered $75 worth of food today. Do better with the overall customer experience. My job has been ordering from here lately for our team of drivers and they rave about it! We treat them to a meal once a month and the bbq has been the most requested. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good. We had a hiccup with a delivery not showing and the 2 employees I spoke with were pleasant and corrected the issue. If you're pescatarian like myself or vegetarian this is not the place for you lol there's meat in everything pretty much even the potato salad and beans. The cornbread is fantastic but they guys miss having white bread as an option. Overall this is a very solid establishment and consistent thus far. read more

The food was good. Nothing out of this world. I didn't like that you only get two slices of brisket when you paid an extra sur charge. The ribs were a little dry but the flavor was good. I really liked their sweet sauce. I had the Mac and cheese and it was kinda watery. My wife had their potato salad and it was good but I was expecting more flavor. And the cornbread was very very good. Not dry at all. The inside was nice very modern but we sat at the back table and omg it was sticky. I tried wiping it down and it didn't help at all. Finally made it here after a year and now I'm bummed I didn't go sooner. The food is absolutely scrumptious. Burnt ends: BETTER than Kansas City. No lie. Perfectly done with a heavenly sauce. I want more right now and I'm stuffed. Pulled pork? Also delicious with nice smoky chunks, moist and tender. Wings? Didn't even NEED sauce; however they smoked them, they are perfect. Try them before you dip them, seriously. But also, the spicy and the sweet sauces are both yummy and mixed together, even yummier. Brisket beans: yummy. Onion rings: crispy, big, fresh. Corn bread with actual corn and a taste of honey. The pickles and marinated onions are, I believe, homemade and so tasty & fresh. 3-meat platter with one extra side was just right to share for 2 people; very generous portions for $19.99. I think the bad reviews from 7-9 months ago were when they were new and had a different manager; Nikki is the GM now and she's crushing it. They're all super friendly, helpful, and food came up fast but still tasted super fresh and hot. I will absolutely be back. Fantastic addition to Alsip; we needed this! This was our second time trying this place. The first time our food was cold and blah but since I love bbq, my wife and I decided to try this place again. We were very disappointed by them not having rib tips but they offered to substitute with ribs for our combo two meat meal. When we received our meals and took our first bite of everything, the meats and 3 cheese mac were cold. The 3 cheese Mac was cold and runny, not cheesy at all. We decided to just take it home but once home we tossed it in the trash. We lost our appetite after the disappointment. We don't tell the manager because it would be a waste of time. That cost included a "hospitality fee" of 3% which in this case added $1.15. Not sure what this is as there is no table service and the order taker asked for a tip. The fries tasted like cardboard and were either under or over cooked. and everything was overpowered in bitter vinegar. the staff was nice and the service was also nice. So I had watched this restaurant be built and couldn't wait to see what it was. Well I ate from there the first time on yesterday -EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT. I watch those BBQ Pitmaster shows and this is definitely a pitmaster. The rib tips were tender and seasoned very well - sauce is amazing. I tried the Chicago sauce and the Carolina -both were equally as good. The smoked chicken wings are to die for. The sausage link was sooo good; very fresh. My sister tasted my food and later yesterday went back to pickup more food for my parents. I got delivery. I live very close so I don't think the delivery made anything worse. My mother got the ribs, and I got the South Sider with mac and cheese and fries. The brisket was tough, the seasoning was good but the cooking wasn't. The mac and cheese had straight up nacho cheese. I like them trying to do something fun by adding red peppers but it tasted like a flavorless pasta salad. The fries were soggy, could've just been the delivery though. Wow, how disappointed am I?!? Came in back when they first opened and thought "not bad, I can't wait for them to get their liquor license and I'll be here all the time" that was December, well now we are staring down the barrel at March, still no "Brew" in the "BBQ and Brew". The staff was friendly the first time I visited, not so much this time. I was only one of 8 people in the place, couldn't get the TV switched to a hockey game because "we're busy" dirty dishes piled up on the bar prevented me from sitting there, so every time I needed to fill my drink I had to walk across the restaurant not that big of a deal, but if a little thought was put into it it could be more accessible. I enjoy BBQ and I enjoy BBQing. If this is the best they can do, I would like to invite them over this summer and see how it's done. Very disappointing read more

Barbecue half slab charred kind of too much. Catfish platter has one Catfish fillet with pound of very dark hard fried fries. Coleslaw just plain mayo and touch of vinegar no seasoning. Other than that, the one Catfish was pretty good. The Barbecue rib was ok tasting once through the charred bark. They ask for tip in the ordering receipt before you get your food. No server bring food to your table or pick up trays but asks for tip before you get your food. Very quiet and peaceful atmosphere though. We met my nephew for lunch. He recommended this place. We all had the lunch special for $11.99.. Which was a pulled pork sandwich on a brioche bun...choice of Mac N cheese, beans, fries, or Cole slaw. I thought the Mac N cheese needed work. It tasted like microwaved Kraft crap.
