Wow! Talk about a hobby shop! Hobby Wholesale has everything a healthy hobbyist could possibly need! It's a great place for gifts too. My boyfriend always wanted to build a model plane and fly a remote control helicopter. So where did I go to find such things? Hobby Wholesale! The staff here are great. They are happy to answer questions and send you in the right direction when you get lost. The store has a wonderful selection and, like I said, they have everything. Be aware that building models and such is not cheap though. It can get pricey. But it's pricey everywhere. I got a little distracted on my search for the perfect gift by all of the dollhouse supplies that the have. Girls can build stuff too! I contemplated that purchase and decided to hold off until I was ready for kids (a homemade dollhouse would be a great gift for a daughter). I ended up finding the perfect gift and my boyfriend loved it! It's a great store. Check it out for all your hobbying needs!

My second pick for hobby shops. And it is by far the biggest! Website isn't near as good as the competition. But instore selection is second to none. They cover all hobbies, and just for good measure...all things Lego, Thomas & miniatures as well. One can get lost...and possibly have fun going broke in a place like this! I'vehad at least one instance of being lead to purchase the completely wrong item, and can't recal ever beinging contacted about anything they have taken my info. for to order in. This in particular I find pretty maddening. They go to the trouble to note the part, my name & phone number...then I never hear from them. This his happened on at least 4 occassions, and is the main reason for only 3 stars. But hey...din't take my word for it.. Check'em out! It is indeed a wonderous place for kids of all ages!

$20,000 and it's yours to fly around!

This place is terrific. Geek heaven. Great selection of single issues and trades, and huge boxes of…read moreold archival stuff. A large gaming area for tabletop games. Tons of tempting action figures and sculptures. Books on creating comics. The staff are always helpful and willing to assist me in finding anything I can't quite place or remember. The negative reviews I've read here seem to expect some kind of big-box-store phony PR campaign from the staff. I think they are mistaking people who are naturally shy or introverted (typical comic book readers?) with being unfriendly or unwilling to help. When I've taken the time to engage with the guys who work here I've had nothing but great experiences, digging through crates to find a certain story arc with my favorite characters, getting recommendations based on other things I've enjoyed, having variant covers set aside until they're ready to go on sale, etc. I'm always greeted by someone at either door when I walk in, and even though they know me by now they always ask if they can help me find anything. I don't know what people are expecting. Complimentary tiramisu? Overall this place is a great regular stop if you're a comic book, tabletop or action figure/memorabilia collector and I strongly disagree with reviews stating that the customer service is lukewarm. If you're comfortable in any other hobbyist shop you'll be comfortable here.

Frankly I find this store overly crowded and not terribly friendly. As a woman who happens to be…read moreinterested in comic books, general geeky things, and games, I find it to be exceedingly important that there be good sight lines in a store of this variety and I find it confusing and hard to navigate as a store location. It really could lead to some uncomfortable encounters with staff or patrons simply because of the layout of the store. In addition I was there with a tall person recently and the items hanging from the ceiling hit his head. This is not good in general. It's a very disorganized clutter-filled store. And feels unusually crowded even when not many people are in there. I would much rather patronize other similar stores in Edmonton that do not have quite such a cluttered/unsafe aesthetic. It also took us a LONG time to find a staff member to help us in searching for a comic we were seeking (it was unavailable). It's good that this part of town has comics/games/etc. options for shopping but I really wish that it were more of a friendly place to shop, especially for people who are new to particular hobbies.

I would call it an actual tourist attraction. I love antiques and interesting things, so we just had to make a trip to see for ourselves. As soon as we walked into the store, I was floored. I just stood and stared, coming just short of jumping up and down and clapping my hands like a kid in a candy store! I knew instantly, this was my kind of place. We were warmly greeted by the owner Alex, chatted for a bit about the business and some of the interesting items he had. We set off to wander around and we were both impressed with the sheer volume and quality of items in the shop. We also noted that the prices were reflected in the caliber of the pieces. On that note, Alex was more than willing to haggle on the prices. They had everything from collections (the Simpsons stuff was wicked cool) to pinball games, toys, oil & gas items/advertising, tins, signs, neon, bicycles, and there's even a Zoltar machine!!! Although we didn't buy anything this time, we'll definitely be coming back. You can check out Curiosity Inc.'s YouTube channel and see them in action!
