This is perhaps my favorite store to walk around and check out the inventory. There is always something new and exciting, almost all with a Christian slant or direct quote on it or in it. The Christian music playing over their sound system relaxes me often to the point I find myself singing hymnals in the middle of the store. This location recently went through a clean-up and reset, so the store looks great. I enjoy walking each aisle to see new inventory. My favorite are the last several aisles flush with seasonal items and decor. The secret to shopping here is to wait until whole categories of items go on sale. Shop smartly and you'll save yourself upwards of 50% off regular prices. This hobby lobby was known for its exceptional customer service. The cashiers have always been friendly and more than willing to help. Today at 10:55 AM Friday, October 10, I experienced some of the worst "customer service" I've ever received. The "manager" seemed to not care that customers were waiting to be served as he socialized with the cashiers. My cashier never greeted me in any way. When I asked her how her day was going she just mumbled something in response. I purchased several sparkly items for Christmas. She just laid them all before me on the counter and expected me to carry them out in my arms. In times past the cashiers would ask if I needed a bag, and if I needed anything wrapped. When I asked her if she was going to bag my items, she said "oh you want me to bag them for you? You're supposed to ask for that". She started to cram some glass items down inside the bag with scratchy things. I asked if they could be wrapped and put in another bag. She said "that bag will cost you another nine cents". Then she refused to give me my receipt until I paid my nine cents for said bag. I didn't have nine cents cash. But fortunately, the lady behind me did. The cashier was then rude to the lady behind me making sure she paid the nine cents before I got my receipt. I may have to find another hobby lobby to shop at. I love hobby lobby for their variety, but every interaction with staff always leaves me not wanting to come back. I wanted to talk to the guy in the framing department about cost for a frame for my diplomas and despite having the exact measurements he insisted I bring it in and couldn't even give me an estimate, at least at Michaels they draw up exactly what it would look like on a computer and show you options and give you a rough price quote. I finally gave up and just smiled and walked away. Then the lady at the register seemed really irritated to have to do her job. All in all it was just unpleasant. Will I be back? probably. But only because they are often the only place that has exactly what I need, but I will also check every other place in the area first. read more

I keep trying to like hobby lobby but it just always lacks. If I go in for yarn, it only has like 2 ails. If I want decor, it all religious or very "Pintrist"/"influencer" styles. Don't get me wrong, if that's what your looking for, cool. Here you go. For me it lacks veriety and value for what is there. The one off thing is that they are the only major craft store I've been to so far that has stained glass. Not a bit selection but some. I feel like there has to be better options around that I haven't found yet. So without that it just isn't worth it to me. Staff are nice but it's the same as other craft stores that I've been to. Hobby Lobby is always a home run because they have everything and they're like two holidays ahead of the curve. If you want to decorate for Halloween, they'll probably have the inventory up after the Fourth of July. My mom loves coming here to buy Christmas decorations and the fixings to build a wreath or a flower arrangement. Love that Hobby Lobby is dog friendly and let's you bring them in, especially since here in Washington, the weather is one one extreme or the other. If I ever have the need to build a movie room in my house, they have all the decor there to make it fun and cool. They even have the popcorn fixings for a popcorn machine. Do they have a popcorn machine I can buy to complete the room? I don't know, but I'll bet they can hook me up. It's always fun to see how the ladies walking around, finding something that excites their creativity and I like all the little tchotchkes and candy near the cash registers that me feel like a kid when I shop here. The only thing that loses them a star is their furniture. Things like shelves or tables are beautiful, but they're more like props because they are kinda flimsy and aren't meant to hold a heavy load. If you need something built to last, get it at a furniture store. Here it's temporary furniture made to look good for a few seasons so you can change things out as tastes change. read more

The yarn selection is small and of very poor quality, it's overly religious, the decorations are year 2000-bland. I don't shop here anymore, but when I did the lines were also ridiculously slow. I now try to shop local whenever possible. Olyphant, Gabby's Olympic Cards and Comics (miniature painting), and small yarn shops (Our Local Yarn Shop, Jorstad Creek, Black Sheep). You keep the money in our local economy and support shops that build community, provide products and services that are hard to find, and make our area unique. The shopping experience is also more enjoyable. If they don't have what I need, I might check online at other independent stores, Michaels, Joanne curbside, or Amazon. Anywhere but HL. read more

The store I enjoy selection, but it's the worst by far when it comes to racial profiling, following you around. The employee Sage, she wasn't doing much in the front as I was slowing making my way to the register, she was messing around with stuff in the isle not far from register. When she seen an individual walk up there who was not of any color she walked to assist, she seen my behind coming up, she went to go automatically take her sign right down, and I called her on her. Lady you were not doing nothing, and you went to help this Caucasian right then, I come up and you try to leave, no. She did cash me out, all while no kind of eye contact, all out discrimination. I asked "is there a phone number or email for here?" She said no! "We don't waste our time here with that!" Exact words, okay, well every place does now days! It was the worst place I've been too. You have people there to give customer service and they are not brining you any business, because now I am not the only one. Nobody is going to step foot in this kind of environment! I have passed on all the information I know of this location. Went here for the 100th time and without fail we were followed around like we were stealing. The manager literally STARED at my friend while we checked out, for the entire transaction we were watched. Her name was Sabrina, I'm not sure if she was a manger but just as much as she was profiling us she was awfully rude to her employees. I'm a store manager in a big box realtor and having an unconscious bias is key to your customers. The prices aren't good enough to have my feeling hurt each time I shop there. read more

I love the selection at this store but unless you have a coupon - things are quite overpriced. Sales are few and far between in paper crafting and I often find better deals at Michaels. Customer service is fairly non existent. Hard to find anyone to help. I like that they have enough checkers working that you don't have to stand around waiting for long periods of time to check out ( cough cough Joanns!) I have been shopping for arts and crafts at Hobby Lobby at least every two weeks since they opened up. Customer Service is great and never once I heard negative comments like racism or anything inflammatory. The employees are very helpful and courteous. I spoke to the store manager on many occasions and he is always polite and helpful. Store is always presentable and clean also the rest room are always stocked and clean. read more

Friday was my first and last visit to the store. During my visit, I watched a dozen folks walk around the store without masks. Despite the large sign out front stating masks must be worn. Not one employee asked these customers to mask up or leave. I asked the cashier why and I was told ownership is fine if customers don't wear masks and the signage was per state law. The bathroom was a disaster. No soap (during a pandemic), toilet paper was on the ground sitting in standing water. Store is well organized and the prices are ok as long as the sales are in play. Cashiers are rude here. They literally look like they're doing you a favor when you walk up to the registers. No greeting, no "thank you" at the end of transaction. Will definitely be taking my business to another location in the future. Here's some insight: they are located ALL OVER!! So when you have shitty customer service be assured people WILL shop elsewhere. I was also asked to move to another register after I already had half of my cart on the counter because the cashier needed to void out the person's transaction in front of me. The manager was literally standing right there. It took two seconds. Faster than I was able to transfer my stuff to the register across from hers an aisle OVER! Then that cashier acts like she's annoyed she has to ring me up. And no one apologized for the inconvenience or offered to help move my stuff. read more

I love this store! I've been shopping here since the day they opened here in Olympia. I probably visit every couple of weeks. They will have most everything you may need. Get the phone app to receive a 40% discount on one item. If you don't see it on sale this week it will be next week. Product quality is middle of the road. It works most of the time. Loved this store. So refreshing to see Christian based merchandise for sale. For the haters and nonbelievers out there don't worry you won't be converted unless you want to be. As for the company policy on health care and non abortion values, I like to think it's refreshing that a corporate business has the guts to stand up for what they believe in, instead of being polically correct. This country was founded on free speech and the freedom to worship of your choice. So if the crucifixes and the company's policy of prolife offended you, shop or work elsewhere. I came to get some art supplies for my kids, and the staff was unbelievably helpful. They pointed me to the precise location of lots of varied supplies, and were incredibly friendly. They often pointed me to better and cheaper options when I was looking at the high grade stuff unnecessary for a 4 year old. Not to mention, the prices below other hobby and craft stores out of the water. I do model rocketry with my son, and after and looking everywhere from Michaels to Walmart, Hobby Lobby hands down has the best prices for all the model rockets and engines. read more

I recently had a custom frame made for $39.00. When I picked it up I was told the sales girl had to walk with me to the register "In case it gets broken." It was an 8x10 frame which I could carry on one hand. I won't shop anywhere that doesn't trust its customers. At the register she wouldn't set it down, she insisted that store policy dictated she must hand it to the cashiere and tell her how much it was... despite the fact that the price was very visible in 2 different places. Was looking for some colored pencils since I got an adult coloring book for Christmas.There were too many choices online so I decided to check the store. For all the hobby lobby's this is by far the worst. Their customer service is terrible. Was not greeted by the fabric cutter, and when I asked her is she had something she gave me a dirty look with a "no." I said oh do you have that in sheets maybe? She shook her head no. (Super helpful thank you!) Then once to the register I find that, like always, the ribbon was on sale last week. It seems to go on sale every other week (a cashier confirmed) and I always miss it. I'm from Canada and hobby lobby is usually a destination for me so I had asked if there was any way they could honour the price of last week to help me out. I had $90 already on the till without my $100 worth of ribbon and explained the situation to the manager who simple explained she would not honour it. (Super Christian of you FYI) I asked her "you can't or you won't? She said I won't. Two days ago it was on sale but now today you can't honour it? Give me a break literally. Hobby lobby do you want my business? Or was my request completely unacceptable. The selection of home decor is amazing and i love the items at this store, but i will never spend another dollar at this disgusting, racist retail store! It is sickening to even think about the comments that were made between 2 employees after i was looking for a photo frames for pictures of my boyfriend and myself, the employee wanted to see the pictures so i showed her, she gave me a dirty look and a fake "cute" when not even 10 min later i was passing an isle the employee and another worker were stocking on when i heard, "i thought so too until she showed me what her boyfriend looks like... she might be pretty but shes really dating a black guy! The new Hobby Lobby store that just opened is really nice inside. There is one thing missing, though, and that's customer service. If you are looking for assistance with anything other than the location of something in the store, you are fresh out of luck. The store has sales signs every where. Today they had 50% off signs above shelves of products. I picked out items right below the signs, thinking I was getting 50% off. When I got to the register, the clerk said some of the items aren't on sale, because they are not made of particular materials. I had picked out some decorative switch plates that were right below the sign, but the clerk said they are made of resin not metal or wood, so aren't for sale!! How am I suppose to know what materials they are? It's a ploy to get you to buy it once you're checking it out. I refused to buy items that weren't on sale, so left them with the clerk. It is misleading advertising to say the least. And they call themselves Christians.....what a joke!! read more
