Absolutely awful!!! They had two registers open with a ridiculous amount of people trying to check out. I am not exaggerating when I say I waited about 20 minutes with the line NOT moving, as more and more people got in line. All while about 4 employees walked around or were talking to each other. I saw what looked to be the manager walk by, look at the absurd lines and just kept walking as if that was usual business. I dropped the items I was intending to purchase and left empty handed after wasting so much time just waiting on a line that never moved. Horrible way to run a business and easy way to lose a sale and a customer. Never again. read more

My goodness! Timing is EVERYTHING I say LOL. Okay, so yes, HL is my favorite hobby store, probably the only major one in any given region but hey, it's still amazing okay. Not only are they faith based, (Christian), they offer some pretty cool stuff all year round. Although these HL stores are cool with an inventory that changes for holidays, seasons and occasions, some of the employees attitudes are parked on moody year round. Today was my first time at this particular location and the inventory was fantabulous! I got a huge wall picture frame (last one tho) for $17 marked down from $69. It's not cheap either because it's heavy lol. Okay, so I don't qualify quality with weight but I could make that argument for some things lol. Oh and these extremely tall and wide glass vases I got, spoke life into me when I gazed upon their glory AND they were 50% off....as were the flowers and greenery. This store would have gotten 5 stars from me no matter when I visited but it's especially impressive considering the setting and season. A place like Hobby Lobby dying Christmas season and during a sale should be an absolute circus you would think. But nothing was further from the truth! Everything in the store was so organized and easy to find (see all the pics). Even the the store was packed, it felt easy to get around. Plus I was absolutely amazed at how quickly the check-out lines were moving. And although I admit, I did find several items that had damage, it's hard to hold that against them when the sale was 50% off all Christmas decor! What a deal!! I ended up leaving with 2 Christmas ornaments, 3 Nutcrackers, and a roll of packing tape all for $40. read more

I'm not crafty or as creative as I'd like to be, but HL makes it easy to pretend. I love it's layout which makes it easy to find most things and it has a host of displays that have inspired me. They are always quite a few registers open and reps on the floor willing to help or point you in the right direction. The most challenging aspect is when you want some thing that is higher up and you need assistance in getting it down. It generally takes some time and seems as though there is only one person assigned this task per shift. The other thing that I wish were slightly different as far as some of the items they are not sale tags in the store so the only way that you know that they are actually marked out with me to do your search online. It's a great find if you were willing to pay the high price, but if your shopping With pricing in mind, you might pass on something that you would've bought had you known it was marked down. read more

Yeap 5 stars! This place is very similar to Michaels. Awesome sales throughout the store. Luckily everything we needed was 50% off, sale changes every week. They have all sorts of things here, great for DIY projects, scrap booking, furniture and loads of Christmas items. You can also find coupons on retailmenot or their store website. No need to print out the coupon, just show it on your phone. The staff members were super sweet and helpful. I got a diamond studded wine stopper for $2.49, SCORE! Overall, no complaints. If you are someone who enjoys crafting and DIY projects I think this is the store that covers the most bases in the New Orleans area. It's huge, is extremely well stocked and the prices are fair. Today I was picking up crafting supplies for someone else (I have absolutely ZERO creativity), and I was able to find almost everything I needed. There were specials throughout the store - lots of 50% off signs. They also publish weekly coupons in local papers and online. They carry a plethora of decorating odds and ends. Lots of tchotchkes, wall hangings, mirrors, candleholders, and the like. From cutesy to elegant, it's easy to find items to fill an empty nook or add to a bookshelf. The store is clean, well organized and staffed with helpful employees. It's definitely worth the 5 stars I'm giving it today. read more

Michael's has moved from Elmwood so Hobby Lobby has become my go to place for small craft items. So far, it has been one stop shopping when I needed supplies. Often what I need is on sale or I have a coupon my wife has given me. I was very surprised to see they have a fairly large fabric and sewing area in the store. read more

I have a love hate relationship with Hobby Lobby, most recently it has been less love but not necessarily hate. It really depends on what I am looking for that day. They have a really strange way of organizing the store which I think is an attempt to compel you to wander around and potentially find something you didn't anticipate buying. Unless you have a great coupon, which they do circulate from time to time, the prices are just OK for what you are getting. That being said, it completely depends on what you are looking at buying. I found the most amazing glass cloche that is comparable in size to one I have been eyeing at Restoration Hardware for over $100. Granted it is not identical but it looks pretty close and I only paid $28 plus tax. It still looks expensive and I love it. All that being said, in a general sense, this place is not bad for this type of store. It's basically Michael's on steroids. read more

I did a quick walk through with my kids recently and I will say its HUGE and filled to the top with crafty stuff. In my eyes I seen mostly fake flowers, bushes, berries and twigs. So maybe the appeal is lost on this particular person. Also I saw Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving , etc, decorations everywhere. Like the holiday monster threw up. I seen alot of potential gift ideas and fun to do things, if I am ever on the hunt for something, this place is now in my rotation. I love the wide variety of decor that they carry. There is definitely something for everyone. Whether you are going for shabby sheik or a more modern look. They also carry seasonal decor. Right now, they are carrying a nice variety of Mardi Gras and Valentines Day decorations. You can also buy fabric and many craft supplies. They have outdoor decor as well. This is a nice size store. It's very clean, organized and reasonably priced. They are closed on Sundays which seems like the only time I think about going there! read more

While I enjoyed popping into the Hobby Lobby on the Northshore when dropping off my pups over there for their vet, it wasn't the most convenient if I really needed something from there, so I was happy that they opened one on this side of the lake. I thought for sure they'd be my new one stop shop, and while I find that I can get most my craft/DIY/Pinterest paraphernalia there, I still end up going to other stores in the area like Michael's to pick up more supplies. Their sales are usually pretty good, but my suggestion is to snap a photo of the sale so that when you get to the register, you can show it to the cash register just in case they say it's not on sale. I'm too lazy and the store is too big to walk back to Row Double Z in Aisle W. Michael's and World Market have better basket options (I make a lot of gift baskets), and you really can't beat the service/prices at Michael's when it comes to frames in this area, in my opinion. What I do like at Hobby Lobby is that they have really cute home accent things. While some are priced a little high, again there are discounts on pretty much everything. They also have a crap ton of Christmas stuff that I'm assuming may be year round and then blows up to about 4 times the rows right before Halloween. I saw some cute mustache ornaments, and this year being possibly my first year with a Christmas tree, I'll probably scoop up some filler ornaments here. The staff has always been pleasant. Parking is copious. Beware of the percentage off that you can't use a coupon with, mostly on bigger furniture pieces. read more

It's like a Micheals but with a uber-Christian controlling body who think it's ok to support laws that tell the world certain people are not ok. Not a fan of this kind of idealism. A few weeks ago, we were in here (not my choice, seems The Girly was having problems finding something she needed for a project and sadly, this was her last chance. While there, a large dark woman approached us to ask The Girly what she was wanting to find. I told her and when she asked who I was, I said, The Girly is shy and as Her SO, I was her voice (The Girly is super shy as some of you know). The woman said, "I can't help YOU. I need to hear it from HER or I can't do anything." Seriously??? Even with The Girly nodding? Get on track you idiots. Now everyone is the same, or is that the problem? They have a lot of stuff for all sorts of projects, crafts and hobbies along with toys. The main problem here is finding anything as there is just so much stuff but fortunately the staff can usually direct you to what you need. They seem to have some good sales here but some of the items seem a bit overpriced when not on sale. It will be the main game in town for many items so I expect this will be a popular location. read more

During my recent visit to the New Orleans I made a trip out of my way to stock up on crafting essentials at Hobby Lobby. Although I am a long-time hobbyist and patron of stores such as Hobby Lobby, I will now be willing to increase my gas stipend monthly in order to patronize Hobby Lobby specifically. I am a proud American and a religious woman. I don't believe I should be held responsible for unruly teenagers and ne'er do wells and their sexual proclivities. Recently Hobby Lobby made a stand against loose morals, and I applaud them for this. I am prepared to pay a bit more for my sewing notions in order to support this mission. In addition to my crocheting materials and embroidery thread, I felt moved by God to purchase some faux pearls. They will look nice when I give the welcoming address at the National Baptist Convention in New Orleans this September 2014. My bill total was $23.88, which reflects a discount I received by coupon, and also an extra five percent off of two crochet hooks, which had minor scratches on them from being mishandled by careless customers. It's okay. The fabric section is too small, but the craft section is huge. It takes forever to check out because they don't use bar scanners. You have to know what items are on sale to tell the cashier and then they have to look in their copy of the sale flier before they can ring it up. Staff seems nice. Closed on Sundays so I go across the street to Michael's if I run out of something that can't wait until Monday. read more

I love this place! It's Disneyworld to people who have a hobby or are looking for one! I need at least 2 hours in here to soak it all in. There is so much variety unlike the other craft stores and the prices are excellent. They also have good weekly coupons. Never again. Went here to get hardware to hang a heavy mirror. Found what I needed but they couldn't sell it to me- it was for their framing dept use only. So I asked if they sold what I needed- no they don't, they have been out of stock since December. Ok. If I bring the mirror here would you be able to put the hardware on the mirror? Nope, "we don't mess with mirrors." With this kind of customer service I'll take my business elsewhere. read more
