I'm not at all an arts and crafts (or the like) sorta person, so I never really had the need to come through a Hobby Lobby. That said this might by my first run at a Hobby Lobby. EVER. (I figure it was just a matter of time when I'd find myself here.) Anyway! I was in search for a wedding unity arras de boda for a couple getting married in a couple of days. We were referred here by the store next door, saying they might have it. Sadly, they didn't. However! I ended up staying I longer than I needed - I took my time browsing. They had so many interesting things I wanted to purchase for my home! Their displays have really good ideas for decorations and such, and if I only lived close, I might have made out with some good buys! But there is one close to home, and now, it's my go-to not just for home decor, but if I had the need for crafty things. And the staff are incredibly nice. Although they knew there were no purchases made, they were still helpful as to where we may find what we're looking for. (And they're the reason for the above average rating.) It is so disappointing for me to post this review. I lived in Ok City, OK, home of Hobby Lobby before they came to Texas. My sisters would plan trips to see me for the purpose of shopping there. Great, wonderful memories. Fast forward, I move back home to Texas, marry and to my amazement Hobby Lobby comes to town and builds this big store on Lavon, blocks from my home. But sadly, while products are good, sales good, and surely they will realize removing the 40% off coupon is a mistake...the service STINKS. And it has off and on since opening. I have made corporate complaints in the past, but never social media. Maybe if it's public HobLob Corp will finally fix this store. It isn't the front checkout lacking. It is apparently a culture built that the only thing that matters is putting out stock. I get it that empty shelves result is no sales...but this culture that makes those employees in the frame shop, or putting out stock ignoring customers, it's insane. You are not losing "a" sale you are losing "A" customer. I will drive right past my community store to go to Michales off N. Garland, or to Murphy, or Plano before I ever give another dollar in Garland. And trust me I have spent a lot of money. I do weddings, make fall mums, decorate big eatery season, I am a watercolor artists. I always have brides that need to see the vision. I always need something on the art aisles. Always Something. With that said, regardless of revenue, every customer purchasing experience should be good. Two visits in 5 days brought me to my decision not to return. First, I was at least at visit number six to buy decor for a large 100 guest party. I calculated I had dropped about $300 that week, and I needed one more item. First the stocker had the aisle blocked off to stock, which is very common here, as is to place so many carts or stocking buckets out you can't purchase anything near them. Since the GM Or Managers don't support this personnel actually "helping" customers, then make those positions work after store hours. Too bad if they don't "want" to works after hours. They also don't want to help your customers or have been coached not to. In this case, first the clerk argued with me that they didn't have what I wanted and had not for over a year, yet I had already bought two that week. She was partially right as the specific one I wanted was over one aisle BUT it was the same prodcut, just different color. I found it on my own. She really should have known to say, oh that one is one aisle over. I told her, I can see you are putting out stock, but I drove up here, specifically to get ONLY this and need it now, because I'm decorating, now. She did not care. She rolled eyes and gave full body language to show how irritated she was. In fact I have apologized to her before because I have been pushy (in my mind) to get help when really she should have given it or called for help from the start. Secondly this past week, I needed in help for purchasing two custom mats and frames and one custom mat. Does anyone know how much money I would have spent?! I rang the bell 3 times, all the while hearing and seeing two persons there. No one came. I left and on my way out did mention, in a respectful way to the front end why I was leaving. It's just too common an occurrence. It is a Hobby Lobby Garland culture. Not present in Murphy or Plano nor Allen. Leadership dictates how employees behave. How the store is run. I am also sharing this review with corporate. It's a given I have shared it with friends, family and other vendors that do what I do. It is a Dad gum shame to have this nice space, a good front end team and not send a message all across your staff that customers come first. We have to take care of the sale in front of us, efficiently, kindly, and with respect. And we have backend work too. They both must be done. If management does not know how to get them done simultaneously, hire after hours personnel, or change the leadership to raise a TEAM of personnel to meet the needs of shoppers. Likely half of your present stocker staff would accomplish restock, setup after hours and not impact your customer shopping experience. I have shopped at this store for over 15 years as I have upgraded/re-decorated my house. I have spent $1,000's of dollars at this location. Over this many years, I have seen General Manager's (GM) come and go. The GM over the Garland, TX Hobby Lobby is the worst Manager I have ever dealt with at any store. His name is Vern. He refused to give me his last name and he was not wearing a name tag. I purchased a $228 custom frame for a picture that was to be the center piece on the wall in my bathroom that I was upgrading. The frame was called a veneer wood frame, which I was told by the framing Manager, Morgan, that is was the best kind of frame they sold, When picked up from the Hobby Lobby, Garland, TX store, it was wrapped in plastic. No foam or cushion around the edges for protection. I have had the framed picture in an extra bedroom of mine where I am keeping all of the decorating items I have bought to update the 3 bedrooms and guest bathroom on that hall. Last weekend, I was going to hand the picture in my bathroom until I saw all of the flaws in the framework that I paid $228 for at Hobby Lobby, Garland, TX. I took the framed picture back up to Hobby Lobby, Garland, TX, show them all the Manager of the framing department, Morgan and the GM, Vern, the major flaws in the frame work. As I showed Vern ALL of the flaws/mistakes/damages on the framework, his comment was it looked like someone drove over it. I frowned and asked him what did he mean by that statement. He said the damage on the framework would never have left Hobby Lobby, Garland, TX looking like that because the employees are SUPPOSED to examine all custom framework before it leaves the store. Vern asked one of the girls that was standing there who works in the framing department to confirm that EVERY custom frame is inspected by one person, if not two different people. The employee hesitated and said "Well yes, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO". I asked him if he had a formal inspection form signed off by the employee who inspected it and Vern told me he was not going there. I told him where the had been safely put in an extra bedroom until I was ready to hang it which was last weekend when I saw all of the damage . I told him I certainly did not do the damage to the frame. The damage came from Hobby Lobby when it was picked up and paid for. Vern said gritting his teeth that he had never once since I did the damage, however he was not going to accept the return of the frame because it was damaged! I asked for his last name and he would not give it to me, nor would he give me his District Manager's name or info. He pulled a yellow sticky note out of his pocket with the home office customer service telephone number and told me I could call them. Vern DID NOTHING TO TRY AND ACCOMMODATE SOMETHING ON THE FRAME to a loyal customer who has spent thousands of dollars at that store over the last 10 to 15 years. I could not believe how he talked to me and treated me when he confessed that there was a lot of damage to the frame including missing veneer on the custom frame. If you decide to shop at the Hobby Lobby in Garland, TX, beware of the products you are buying. Over half of the products I see in the store that I like, when I go to pick them up, they are broken! This place sells odd and end items for decorating your house, material for sewing, yarn, paints, fake flowers, and random furniture items. It has a great layout and is spread out pretty well. They usually have great sales on random items. They also have coupons on their site. They place is usually clean. Went here to find decor items for the house. If you look around, you will usually find something you like and want. Also just a note...when you find something you like...you bettered buy it. They don't usually have alot of duplicate items there. FYI they are closed on Sundays read more

I spent a long time trying to find an item. I finally asked for help from the cashier. She did not show me where the item was, just said it was in the middle of the store. There was nobody else in the store to help, just the cashiers, who could not leave their cash registers. The store has so much crap in it that it is impossible to find anything. I was very disappointed today in what I heard and saw. I overheard on the store walkie talkies this morning while I was shopping...." there's a panhandler out on the parking lot." Then one of the store managers spoke loudly...."ok good, I've got this". Sorry I know sometimes people get annoyed by having someone ask them for assistance. But if you've never been down on your luck....it stinks. And what goes around can come around and smack you in the face! What if they had brought the person in and let them do some odd little jobs to help them out. Or who knows maybe even given them a real job. What a witness that would've been. Hobby Lobby smells like an old ladies house. You know that weird mix of mustiness, eucalyptus, and moth balls, yeah that smell. I think they aim to be some sort of craft store but it's just this weird mix of random stuff. They have a bench made out of a fake Wagon wheel, and chests of drawers that appear to me painted by people on acid. Hobby Lobby is one of those places that defies categorization. We have been going to this Hobby Lobby for the past 20 years, and have been in the store prior to close several times in those 20 years. Today was the first time that an employee of Hobby Lobby has gotten on the loudspeaker and proceeded to announce that the store was closing at 8:00 literally every five minutes since 7:15 pm. She announced at 7:15, 7:20, 7:25, and so on. It was extremely distracting and unnecessary and added a level of aggravation that I had never experienced in this store. I felt offended and even my son mentioned that she kept announcing it as if we were all 5 year olds in our first week of kindergarten. I truly hope they stop doing this or I might have to take my business to Michael's instead. Which is more expensive but I would rather pay for good service and a friendly atmosphere rather than save a few dollars and be treated as grade schoolers. read more

Very disappointed in the customer service at this location. I was shocked at what happened! When I got home last night from Hobby Lobby I noticed I was missing 2 flowers ($2.99 each) out of my bag. I looked everywhere for them in my car!! The last thing I wanted to do was have to go back up there! I went back up to the store (with my receipt) to get them. The shift leader said she would have to go look at the video of last night. She was gone 5 mins than came back and told me that they were not left at the store and that's it. It was impossible that she was able to look over the video in that short amount of time!! I was shocked that she had lied to me and was so unwilling to help me at all! For me it was a big problem but for the store 2 flowers is nothing to loose a customer over! Make sure you look in every bag and that you get every item bought before you leave the store! Went tonight with my family. Went to check out and waited for a couple of minutes. The cashier decided to tell me he was closed after I stood there for a couple of minutes and when he was finished checking out the person in front of me. I asked him why he didn't say anything to me prior to me standing in line and he said that he needed to do something. I called and spoke with the csm Claudia. Asked her for the regional phone number. She said let me go get it. Came back and said I could get it online. I asked for the manager on duty and she said that he was at lunch. I then asked for her name 4 times and she hung up on me. My husband was in the car listening and was floored that she would actually hang up on a customer. Called and Ron the manager answered and said that he was in the back with a truck. I told him what happened and all he wanted to do was argue with me that Claudia didn't hang up on me. She was just busy he kept saying. I told him that he had the rudest customer service. He didn't care at all that I was hung up on or how I was treated in his store. Will never go to that hobby lobby again. read more
