This is my moms GO-TO craft supply store. She is an avid knitter and can make anything you can imagine ! She makes teddy bears, scarves, shawls, jackets - you name it. Being so involved with the knitting community she has been growing in her appreciation for good quality yarn!! She loves YARN BEE brand yarn with low-no pill. This brand holds up to constant use and comes in a variety of thickness. It ranges between $4-6 and has comparable softness to the expensive luxury yarn. I live in suburbia and am surrounded by Michael's, Jo'Ann Fabrics and Walmart where you can buy fabric, gift wrap items, art supplies, jewelry making stuff, seasonal decorations, etc., etc. With that being said, Hobby Lobby is the newest crafts type of store to take up residence in the Foothill Towne Center. This, IMO, is the best of the above mentioned places. Not only do they have a ton of seasonal stuff here, but they have wrapping paper, candy, home decor, jewelry making stuff, hobby kits, craft kits, paints, and so on and so on. The nearby Hallmark store does not hold a candle to this place as far as prices go for gift wrap and ribbon and tissue paper. They have greeting cards here, but bear in mind as this is a store ran with Christian values, many of the cards are of a religious nature. For this reason, also, be aware that this store is also closed on Sundays. I have found some great arts and crafts kits for my nieces who love to create things and some cool science project type of kits for my nephews. They also have all kinds of model kits here such as model airplanes, model cars, Star Wars models, etc. So, there are a few things for men to look at while they are bored and accompanying their wives/gf's here ;P I have also found some nice home decor items here such as picture frames, baskets and jewelry racks. There are a lot of items for jewelry making such as fasteners, beads, chains, stones, etc Paint brushes, easels, paints, palettes are located in the back of the store, too. This place is awesome! I was mistaken when I thought this was going to be just another Michaels or Joanne's. Its so much more! If I ever have a free day to myself, which I can't quite imagine yet, I would come here and peruse down every aisle. What sets this place apart immediately from other craft stores, if I can even put them in the same category, is their huge selection of home decor. Man cave...check, Paris...check. Western...check. It's like Michael's and Joann's had a baby! BAM! Hobby lobby! Wow, this place is an arts and crafts person's dream come true! So many arts and craft items to do and make! If you're a fan of DIY and Pinterest, this is your store. They have so many cute trinkets, thingy ma bobbers, and whatcha ma call its. I could spend the whole day in here, which I did. This place just opened so it is very organized and they are stocking the shelves with amazing decorations! Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas decor are out and on sale! Love that the decorations are specific too, such as Western theme, leopard print, history theme, movie theme, and of course AMERICA! The staff is friendly and willing to help. Very knowledgable of where items are because it does get overwhelming trying to find just one item. This is not a place for those who get easily distracted because there is just so much to see...Look! Giant poinsettias! Glad they opened one here, let's hope it stays for awhile! I bought a pair of scissors on 07/02/18 and used them once or twice. The scissors did not close properly and were falling apart. So I took them along with the receipt back to Hobby Lobby on 07/13/18. The cashier told me I cannot return the scissors without the packaging. So I checked the return policy and here it is: Hobby Lobby welcomes returns accompanied by an original sales receipt and customer ID within 90 days of purchase. Store credit, a merchandise exchange or a refund in the original form of payment will be issued. Check purchases require a waiting period of 10 calendar days for a refund. All I wanted was to exchange the scissors for a pair that hopefully worked. I called the store manager and explained what happened. I also told him he needs to educate his employee's on there return policy. He apologized and made no offer of compensation. Granted it was a very inexpensive product but I won't shop at Hobby Lobby after this. read more

This place is a crafts store. It is located in Foothill Ranch on the same side as the Baskin Robbins, across from it. The place is very large with a lot of open space. It is similar to a Joann (which there also is in the same plaza) but has more of floral arrangements and less fabric. I just came in here to get a single art supply I needed. There was only one cashier open at the time and there was someone in front of me with a lot of stuff so the line piled up to 4-5 people. They opened another register. I stopped, to shop at the Hobby Lobby in Lake Forest on Portola Pkwy. I have been there with my wife Diana several times before. I looked at the Christmas section to look at the, Christmas trees, and many wraths, some with decorations and some without. I went to the Man Cave section, and looked at the many signs, but I could not decided what to buy. The place was very clean, as was the men's restroom. I came to purchase the supplies I need to make my black tutu for Halloween. I had a bit of an "emotional journey" during my visit to this store... Upon arrival, I was SO happy! I had only visited a Hobby Lobby in Vegas previous to this venture, and this store is HUGE in comparison to the Vegas location! The store is very neat and well-organized... everything is in its place, facing the right direction, no "debris" in the very wide aisles. It has an "older" feel to it but not in a bad way. It just seems like an established business. (I'm not sure how long this location has been here.) There were not very many people present, but it may have seemed that way since the store is so large. There were plenty of cars parked in front of the establishment. I went to the fabric department since I was told (when I called a couple of days ago) that I could find tulle already cut into the width I need for my tutu. I saw a large spool of tulle, but not the smaller spool I was told is in stock. I looked and looked... and then I looked for an employee. No one. Not in the fabric department. Not in the nearby departments. Not in any random aisles. Then bothered Ani ("aahhh-knee" - that's me) appeared... I realized this very large and very fun store seemed to have no one to help uncover/find specific treasures among all the wonders. I went to the cashier area, where I found one cashier and about fifteen people in line. I asked her for help in fabric to which she asked "Is no one there? Someone is supposed to be." I told her I was back there for a while and didn't see any employees. She paged the fabric guru by name. I spent eight minutes at the register, as directed, and the employee never came. The cashier then called me over and said "The employee I paged never came. I don't know where she is." She looked at me as I did her, as her line of now eight people watched us both. So uhhh - now what, wondered frustrated Ani. Then in walked the fabric guru from outside. She wasn't the nicest, at first - she told me she would be with me in a minute before asking me with what I needed help. I told her about the pre-cut tulle about which I was informed and she said she didn't think they had any. I was starting to fume, but she seemed more interested in the tulle I was promised rather than her journey to the back of the store - she switched directions and led me back to fabric. After a short search, she found my tulle in TWO widths! I also found a glittery, polka-dotted organza AND a free pamphlet informing me of the versatile joys of tulle. Happy Ani was reappearing! I haven't crafted in a while, and I have never made a tutu. I don't sew so I don't know much about fabrics and how they "mesh". I had questions and fabric guru was gone again. I saw two customers with a basket full of material and I had to see if they could help me - the internet was not answering my questions about ribbon width and whether or not the sturdier organza and delicate tulle would mix well. The more seasoned customer was happy to come over and hear about my project before informing me about the itchy-ness of the materials (though they should blend just fine), pros and cons about different ribbon sizes I could utilize for the "belt", and about the "senior Minnie Mouse" costume she made for her Halloween party! She was a jewel! Excited Ani went to the front of the store and became ecstatic Ani when she saw the first cashier finally had some relief - a second checker! This organization is Christian owned - I recognized a lot of the instrumentals that sounded like jazz as faith-based songs. That was cool. Great prices! I bought all I needed (and probably more) for my tutu for about $20. And there are discount signs all around. My mom said the app would have provided me a 40% off coupon on one regularly-priced item. I very much liked this store - I would just advise management to ensure the human capital is as well-stocked as the craft goodies! read more

Michael's is in the same lot but I always stop at Hobby Lobby when I can't find something I need. I usually go to Michaels because they have better coupons but Hobby Lobby has by far a better catalog. They also offer coupons on their site! Got 40% off for today's purchase. This is the first Hobby Lobby I've ever been to and I absolutely love the store but the people there are the absolute worst. I'm not talking about staff, I mean the customers. They are usually cranky with returns 10 feet in the sky and some old woman yelling about how the item was 20% off not 15%... I really give props to the staff here, I had a lady in front of me giving the cashier a check? Not sure the situation but the poor girl at register had to pull out a binder and look up stuff and it was holding up the whole line, overall she just looked worn out and I couldn't help but feel bad. Off of ranting now, but this store is wonderful! Hoping they will hire more employees and make it easier for the current employees! Great customer service by the lady in the back room with all the paper supplies! I saw online that Hobby Lobby had a deal on foam boards, but I needed one that was quite large, 60 inches by 40 inches, and they only sold them in-store...I wasn't sure that a board that size would fit in my compact sedan, but decided to go try it out. It was a bit of a drive, but it was a great deal, so I went down there and bought the board. Lo and behold, I found out after taking the board out to the parking lot that it didn't fit in my car, it was too long by about just a tad bit. At first I was just going to return the board, but then I decided that I would try asking the worker in the back room (where all the paper and boards are cut) whether or not she could cut the board down by a bit in order to have it fit in my car. I was totally expecting her to say no way and that they only sell the boards in the advertised sizes, but she went ahead and cut it down and I was able to take it home. Hooray! Needed some hobby paint for an automotive project. I wasn't interested in having someone at a home improvement store tell me a bunch of nonsense about how I need to buy wall primer to paint my grille on my old car(yeah that happened). Anyway, my expectations were low because art stores generally don't impress me. I was very surprised and delighted by my experience here. Although I know little of he ways of the artistically inclined, the store layout seemed logical and easy enough to navigate for my extremely stereotypically male brain. After walking around looking at the different sections, I was asked if I needed any help by a lady in the fabrics area whom pointed me in the right direction. I think her name started with an M.. I found the paint area where they have it all locked up, and another employee was there in no time, as if he just knew I was about to go looking for help. I think he was the store manager who helped me, dressed formally, tall guy with glasses. Really polite, helped me get what I needed. If I recall correctly his name was either Larson or Larry. Cashier (cannot remember her name, younger blonde girl?) was super friendly and helpful and even gave me a heads up that there was a sale coming the following week if I needed to get more paints or glues from they section, that I could wait a few days and save a few dollars... 5/5 stars. read more

I went into Hobby Lobby to return a picture. I was in the purchase/return line. The cashier was ringing up a customer with a lot of items in her basket. A register opened and the associate said to me "I can help the next person in line". I started to leave the register I was in line for. When Rebecca yelled at me to stay in the line I was in for returns. Again Excuse me!!! I only said that since there was only two of us in line I thought that was directed at me. Excuse me!!! Rebecca was sweeping the floor and never once did she offer to help the young man at the register wrap any of the items he was checking out. I have never in my life encountered such a sour faced group of women. No one ever smiles or is friendly with the customers. I was an Assistant Store Manager for 22 years and know, when someone has a good experience they will tell maybe 2 people. When you have a bad experience you will tell everyone you know. I really love the selection and prices at hobby lobby and love that I can find all my home decorating and crafting needs in one place! Plus, there is always a 40% off coupon (download the app or sign up for their email). However, (and this is where they loose two stars) the customer service is seriously lacking. They just aren't very helpful or friendly here. Because it's such a large store and they have so much selection, it can be difficult to find things if you go in for something specific. I tend to browse online and then go in knowing what I want but I can never seem to find it. There seems to be an abundant amount of staff, so plenty of people to ask for help, but I don't think I've ever had someone greet me with a smile or actually be helpful other than pointing to the general vicinity of where the item might be. Other stores take the time to walk you to the item or at least give specific directions to where it is...not here. And don't even get me started on returns/exchanges. I don't know why it's such a process but management needs to do some serious customer service training! read more

Wow! I like so many reviewers of Hobby Lobby thought it was something completely different. I thought it was just hobby stuff i.e. Model airplanes, cars etc, or that it was like Michaels or Joann's. Wow was I wrong, this place is huge and has just about everything you could possibly want and then some. I came in looking for something kind of cowboyish, thinking for sure they wouldn't have any such thing, again..WRONG! They sure did. I ended up buying all kinds of little cowboy stuff (brother is a cowboy) along with that, they had a huge selection of fisherman themed items that I took advantage of for my step dad. What a neat store! I ended up spending over an hour in here, just finding so much of what I never expected. This store is amazing. This was my first time at a Hobby Lobby. I took a chance because while the reviews here weren't great, the reviews from Joannes were even worse. When I called to find out if they were open during the lockdown I was in luck, and employee said that they just re-opened today, and reminded me to wear a mask. I'm sure some people would find this presumptuous but I was grateful for the reminder and also grateful that this employee was taking his and his coworkers' health very seriously. My trip was largely uneventful. The shelves were very well stocked and there were very few people in the store. The customer service though, was incredible. The staff was so kind and helpful and just plain lovely. All of them. From the woman who cut my fabric, to the young man who gently handled my items at the cash register. I will be coming back to Hobby Lobby. Thank you all for your service. Be prepared to spend atleast an hour here! It's impossible to get in and out quickly because there are so many things to look at! I love this place. There is always something on sale. So I've gotten into scrapbooking recently (I'm getting old you know) and everyone (mainly my coworkers above the age of 40) kept telling me I needed to check this store out. When I first arrived I was shocked by the sheer size of the place. Literally had everything for every craft imaginable. It also had a ton of home decor which I was expecting. I was in a rush but I will definitely be back to check that out. I walked directly to the back of the store hoping the scrapbooking section would be back there and lo and behold it was. Talk about selection. Awesome stickers, cardstock, tools. Loved it. The best thing about this place is the prices. And they are always having sales, especially on scrapbook items it seems like. They have a pretty huge selection which is what gets this place to 2 stars for me. But, the prices aren't all that great. When my fiance and I went in to look around for some halloween stuff, we enjoyed the selection, but nearly every aisle had 40-50% off signs. To me, this screams that they are overpricing everything by the same margin and using the 40-50% off "sale" to get people to think they are getting a great deal. We did end up buying a couple things, but when we went to Target almost immediately after, we found the same items retail for a bit cheaper than Hobby Lobby's "40% discount". Don't be fooled by all the SALE signs...they really aren't a great deal at all. In addition, unless we missed where they were located, there aren't any signs over the aisles indicating what is located where. You kind of have to walk around and figure it out. I personally like being able to look up and see which aisle I need to head toward for whatever item I came in to buy. read more

This store is a massive combo of home decor and craft supplies. Convenient if you want to kill some time, because even when I know what I'm coming for I still end up wandering around. Their prices seem on-par with Michaels, so if I'm in the area I and need something I would stop. I do like their home decor section, and have purchased a couple of things that I was really having trouble finding elsewhere (like a big tray for my ottoman that was under $50). And lots and lots of knick-knacks :) And just like Michael's, there is ALWAYS a coupon. Just make sure to have it on your cell phone, because I don't think they as willing to give you the discount without a formal coupon. read more

Half decor and half crafts, this store is not any different than the one I visited in Winchester, VA this past spring. The many different framed mirrors gave me ideas on what I could do in my bathrooms. I do like that fact that it had three full rows of yarn in some different brands and varieties than what Joann's or Michael's carries. I also found out they will price match their sales for 14 days after your purchase date if you bring the receipt and items back to the store with you for them to make the adjustment. It's an inconvenient way to get the sales price compared to Walmart's price catcher, but atleast they try. read more

There is never enough cashiers & when they open a new register lane they do not care to prioritize who was the first person waiting the longest. When I asked the assistant mgr about this she said sorry but since I didn't visually see this I can't speak to it even while I visually showed her what was currently happening. After many attempts and many years trying to be a happy customer here, it appears it's not possible for Hobby Lobby to educate and train their staff to provide basic customer service by greeting or at least acknowledging customers as they shop. Not even the manager shows a good example. It's really sad because I like the products but there is zero smiles, friendliness or customer service. Makes you wonder how they show the public how to reflect God's love as a so called Christian store. They are lucky to get one star. This reflects all the way up to the CEO and if I were in charge, I'd be making sure every employee smiled and looked at the customer. Nice crafts, terrible company. They offer their own brand of yarn, Crafter's Secret, misrepresent this yarn as a medium weight, it's not, it's thinner. I ordered sufficient yarn for medium weight to crochet a throw, 2900 yards. Because this yarn is thinner than medium weight, I now have insufficient yardage. 2 feet in to project I called to see if they can try and match dye lot for another 1000 yards. They offered no help, tell me it's my problem for the yardage, it's not their responsibility on misrepresentation of type yarn, (even though it's the store brand) won't try to match dye lot for another purchase, and won't refund it after my wasted time . I've had much better customer service from Joann's who does make good on yarn problems. For a Christian company they're not very Christianly, preferring to treat their customers poorly.
