Loved this place until I was harassed for being medically exempt while checking out. Not one person bothered me while shopping, after I explained my exemption which I do not even have to do...I was told I needed to "Call and let them know I was shopping so they could prepare for me" What are they going to do follow me around? I have never had the crafty knack. But a visit to Hobby Lobby makes me wish I did. To paraphrase a talented local interior design friend of mine, "There is some good stuff in this store." Seriously. My visit to Bend included a trip to Hobby Lobby only because I needed foam boards to paint house color samples and I didn't want to drive all the way to Michaels. Now were I still living in Bend Michael's would be forever in my rear view mirror. What does Hobby Lobby have going for it? To start with a bigger, easier to use parking lot (given it occupies the old Sears location in the Bend River Promenade Mall). Add to that a better lit interior, wide aisles for navigating which are easily accessible to all people, well stocked shelves (and shelves and shelves and shelves) for anything you can imagine from jewelry making supplies and scrapbook materials and children's art supplies and adult art supplies and faux florals and greeting cards and bath accessories and wrapping paper and "ahhh, sweet" sentiment art for walls (if that's your thing) and candles and hobby paints and ink stamps and ink pads to go with them and paper boxes and bags of all kinds to tuck in home baked treats for gifts and colorful stickers and marking pens and... The list goes on and on. Add to that enough staff, even if somewhat reserved in nature folks, to answer questions and point you in the right direction. Add to that fair prices. What holds some shoppers back from venturing in? What I've been told by some is the fundamentalist Christian perspective of the overall owners of Hobby Lobby offends them. But let me say this "Yes" and "No" about that. Yes. You will see evidence of Christian perspective in some of the accessory items, like some wall plaques and greeting cards. No. It is not proseletyzing. It is merchandising. Yes. You can look the other way if that offends you. I see vulgar tee shirts in some stores where I shop. I can look beyond that when it offends my senses and understand freedom of expression has many forms. Yes. They are closed on Sunday. For my part, Hobby Lobby will be the first store I think of in the future when I need "you know, like this thing you'd find in Michael's". It made me wish I was crafty. Or maybe a kid again when crafty was a part of my lexicon. My friend was right. There is some good stuff in this store. read more

Don't plan to make it past the lobby... no cart wipes, face shields instead of masks for employees, laughing it up with unmasked patrons. I asked for a cart wipe and was flat out told that they don't have them. We left without even making it into the store; we'll take our business somewhere that respects the best interests of our community. read more

Ordered some items online that they didn't have in the store. Due to quality had to return them to the store. Please note that they don't practice COVID precautions which is a big deal to me as I have lost people to this disease. Re the return, they were nice enough but asked a bunch of questions about why I didn't want them (they were plates) and wouldn't take the two large boxes they were shipped in - said they had no place for them. When manager came to approve my return, I asked him if they could take/recycle the boxes... and he agreed. Not sure why they were so inconsistent. I think the original cashier just didn't want to deal with it. So zero stars due to COVID plus one because they were so-so helpful. read more

Okay I love hobby lobby just as much as the next Mom. But... The speed of checking out in this store is ridiculously slow. Okay not only slow, but it's a cluster! Seriously... If there's more than two people in line, you'll be there for a while. It took 20 minutes to get through their line yesterday with 4 check stands open!! The lines were only 3-4 people deep... No mask enforcement even when it is a state mandate. Besides that the staff are rude and look completely miserable. Not very willing to help you find something or point you in the right direction, they also don't seem well informed about what they even carry in the store. The only good thing about Hobby Lobby is that comparatively it has cheaper options and more variety of art supplies than other stores in Bend but the service is pretty lackluster. I've personally been in the paint aisle just browsing and the bad attitude and lack of a better term "bad vibes" from the staff member who was stocking the aisle and rudely walking in front of me while I was looking made me feel like I wasn't a customer but a nuisance. 'JoAnns' has some of the nicest employees and even though they are more expensive I've been shopping there more just to avoid the bitter staff of Hobby Lobby. read more

The General Manager Dale Renton at this store was absolutely the worst manager I have ever dealt with. He was rude and belittling, never apologized and was very unprofessional. I asked a simple question about their 40%coupon, if we could use this coupon multiple times since we were purchasing a large number of pricy plants. Instead of being professional he said NO well that's are policy, he said rudely I can only use 1 coupon per person, per day. We asked how we can get a discount he said we would have to come back each day. He said if we would try to purchase the items on same day he would know because they would look in their cameras. He must really think we're idiots. His demeanor and attitude was horrible. It wasn't what he said it's how he said it. Even the cashier was embarrassed and apologized for his behavior. Ive never been treated so rudely!! Glenda was the only one working in the frame department. She never looked ip snd said hello..never told you she would be right with you..Nothing!! So When it was my turn she took someone in front of me and swore that I was after her and then tried to argue about it when I just said leave it alone it's fine it's whatever... She waited till she was about six people deep to call for any extra help. I waited over 30 minutes to pick up an order that was already ready. I literally could not believe how I was treated. Hobby Lobby with all their aisles, fun things to buy. Gifts to MAKE for my family, always lifted my heart. We just looked to see if Hobby Lobby is open, we think it is. I literally looked it up to see if I was the only one who had a bad experience at this specific Hobby Lobby. I got to the check stand and there was only one open and three ppl in line. There was two workers standing there and it didn't look like they were doing anything they seemed like managers who didn't want to ring ppl up. They called another cashier up. She slow walked over and then went to one counter then another counter like disoriented. By this time three other ppl had lined up behind me. Then she told me I could come over. I was cheery and appreciative towards her and said thank you and hello. She started ringing things up and like muttering to herself. An item that was supposed to be on sale she said wasn't because the way it was labeled. It was labeled table decor but it was a sign with hooks I had picked up in a sign aisle which was part of the current 50% off. She then continued ringing up items and so I asked her whether or not it was on sale... and then she cut me off and like scolded me - she scoffed at me - it was unreal. She said she had just told me she would honor the sale in a tone like I was a total idiot and super defensive on her part - which she absolutely did not say... or I would not have asked. It was so awkward that I felt embarrassed for her. I was just checking coz I didnt want a $50 sign I wanted a $25 sign - or no sign.. lol. I went to Hobby Lobby today for the first and last time! First of all I walked into the store and couldn't find the product I was looking for. After I found a store employee and asked where I might find the item. She was vague and just pointed in a direction and said I should look in the back of the store. No aisle #? I finally find the produce and head to the registers. Only two registers were open, and the waiting line was several people deep! As I stood in line I noticed several store employees around the area but none seemed interested in opening another register. When I finally made it to the register I told the cashier that I had a coupon in my wallet. She told me she couldn't accept it because I didn't have it out an ready.
