This is a lengthy review but trust me- you need to read it to understand why we rate Hobbs Mechanical so highly. I do not often give reviews as it is hard to find honest, hard working, and cost reasonable workmanship. My wife and I have had recurring issues with a new home heat pump that was damaging thermostats and other AC equipment. Prior to calling Hobbs we had used two other well known companies that could not find the true problem. They made temporary fixes that I felt would not work... and their fixes did not. Finally our system went out again and we decided to call Hobbs Mechanical. My wife made the initial call and was told that someone could be out at the house the same day!! Sydney, whom I found out is very knowledgeable, arrived at our home and went over the problems with my wife. He quickly located a damaged item and replaced it. He also noticed the strange amperage problems occurring and was confused, as had been everyone else. He ended up calling Jeff who showed up to help. They both worked late into the early evening before making a temporary fix and scheduling to come back in the morning. We at least had cool air blowing. Sydney came back the next day after finishing another job and he attempted to locate the problem...there were way to many pieces to the puzzle that had to be eliminated. To his dismay he ended up not being able to fully fix it and said he would return. On the third day I spoke with Jeff Hobbs , who from the start, stated he would work with us, make sure it was fixed, and be fair about the price because it was something he wanted to solve. He had never seen anything like it in 20+ years. Jeff came out and I went through everything with him- you know... the husbands point of view. His puzzle solving skills worked and my wife and I are happy to say that Hobbs Mechanical can do it... and do it right!! As stated before I rarely give reviews; however Jeff's company Hobbs Mechanical is rated 5 stars in my opinion. I've used others. Got ripped off and still had the original problem. Jeff and Sydney worked until the found the problem. Fixed it and were very reasonable on costs. If you've made it this far... don't search anymore. Although I haven't used their service to date, when my heating unit went out I emailed Hobbs for an estimate. I received a call within minutes and they were on site within an hour. The tech was very professional and took the time to listen to my unique situation trying to economically and effectively heat and cool a business and residence within the same building. He offered several different options from which to choose after listening and asking many questions and looking over the whole place very closely. Amazing. Our heat pump went out. We called everyone all night after freezing almost. By pure luck I found Hobbs. Within 30 min I had a tech at my door. He was so professional and upfront. I'm so relieved. Please make them your first call with any emergency needs. Thank you so much to the whole Hobbs business for being there when we needed you. I recommend them to everyone!!!! Replaced our gas water tank that was in the attic with a tank-less on demand unit in the garage. Offered to price matched and told me the rate, which was the same as my lowest quote of the 3 I had already received. Chose this company because they took the time to educate me on my options, without making me feel obligated to chose them. For anyone living in the Hampton Roads area, I would recommend Hobbs AC for any of your HVAC needs. I've had a handful of problems across multiple residences and they have never let me down. Their technicians are usually out in a quick manner always with the fix to the solution. The customer service, usually answered by Anthony, is a major plus in my book.
