Decent selection of designer frames in a variety of colors, shapes and sizes. They offer 50% off their frames, which can only be applied if you don't utilize your vision benefits or uninsured, which can bring the price down for sure. The issue comes with pricing with insurance. The sales lady (who was friendly and very helpful) said she could compare the price for $549 pair of Monclear frames with the stores discount vs my insurance. Proceeded to do the math in front of me and stated with insurance it would ~$630 vs with store discount and not using instance would be ~$600. You would think awesome savings? Wrong. She either accidentally quoted my benefits wrong or did it on purpose. Stated I had 20% off lenses when my insurance eye med covers it entirely with $15 copay, states anti reflective coating would be $99, when per my insurance should only pay $45 and stated I have $175 off frames when in reality I have $175 off and 20% off price above. When I did the math myself would be  $359.20. When she told me the insured priced it gave me a bit pause because I thought wow my insurance barely covers anything, did my benefits change drastically this year?! So I left to price shop and review my benefits. I would love to give them the benefit of the doubt but this is perfect scheme to entice a customer to use their coupon instead of insurance so they can maximize profits without having to deal with insurance reimbursement. Funnily enough if they actually quoted me the real insurance savings I would have purchased immediately. Now I certainly will not be back. read more

I am a former patient of Glasses on First. When I called to make an appointment, the staff were unfriendly and not knowledgeable about insurance. I left a review letting other patients know about my experience and within minutes, I had a very long reply from the office repeatedly accusing me of cursing at their staff. I called to ask them why that was their response and was met with resistance and arguments from the office manager, Stan F. I'm sure he will reply negatively to this review as well, as accepting accountability and feedback is a skill he is still developing. The owner/proprietor has been serving the clients over a few decades with their expertise , exceptional customer service/support, & reasonable cost. They have two on-site ophthalmologists for Mondays & Thursdays offering though checkups at no cost for customers who needs prescription eyeglasses. I bought a Google Offers deal for this place. $35 for an exam and $260 towards lenses and frames. I came in with no appointment and saw the optometrist right away. The exam took no more 15 minutes. When it is was time for me to pick out frames I knew the exact ones I wanted, the Ray Ban Wayfarer. Unfortunately they didn't have the frames I wanted so the girl helped me pick out frames that were similar. They were so patient with me because I was so indecisive! In the end I chose really cute frames made by Legre. I was very happy. What I didn't expect was the cost of the lenses. I knew the deal included lenses and frames but I didn't know was that the lenses cost $249. Plus extra for scratch and glare resistant lenses. The girl gave me both for $85, I think it's normally $135 for both. So I paid a lot more than I expected with the deal, but I got my new glasses (picked them out Monday and they were ready by Friday) and I love them. But I do wish I didn't spend as much. read more

I bought a pair of frames online that were too large for my head, they kept sliding down my face. I was going to have to return them if I could not get them fixed. I looked up eye wear places in the area and HMY had great reviews. I figured I would see if they can help. I came here with a City Select voucher. $39 for an eye exam and $150 credit towards glasses. Since I didn't need an exam, I got $185 credit towards glasses. I had mistakenly thought the voucher included lenses (the cheapest, no frills they offer is $135). They have a huge selection of frames and the saleswoman was very patient and helpful and honest about which styles looked good on me or not. Most of the frames were around $289 to $389. Turn around time was one week and included cleaning solution. The manager was also very nice and wanted to make sure everything was to my liking and told me not to hesitant to come back if I needed adjusting. So I ended up pay $240 (not including the voucher price) for frames and lenses (with uv protection, anti-glare and scratch resistance). The frame themselves retailed for $289. They said if I wanted to use the voucher for just frames (not lenses), then it would only be for half the credit. read more

Totally agree that the place is a complete rip off! The cheapest Frame is $299, and then the lenses for me (-7.0) is for around $400? From my voucher on Livingsocial, they didnt say anything about how much for their DESIGNER frames and lenses at all!! and not even from their website... my coworker got new one in BJ is only $150 with everything done...And there, one glasses is for almost $700?? The DESIGNER frames they are proud of are not as good as mine... I HATE heavy frames specially I might need heavy lenses for my eyes(-7.0)... I dont want my glasses too heavy... Most of their DESIGNER frames are pretty heavy...(at least heavier then my old one which already has my lenses on)....Cant believe it.... and they just told me, it is b/c their quality is better.. that is why it should be heavier?mmm.....I really doubt it....good quality doesnt mean have to be heavy... The only good part is they are very patience and good attitude... I received a postcard on the street so I decided to give them a try since I needed to update my contact lens prescription and I needed new glasses. I was NOT going back to another Cohen's Optical EVER again (see my other review). So I walked in without an appointment and there were able to take me right away. I got a great exam, the doctor was nice and my prescription is perfect now, she gave me contact lens samples and a little box of solution to try. The guy at the front (owner?) was really nice and helped me pick out new frames...I think he showed me the whole store! It took less than a week to get everything. The selection is huge! Prices are reasonable...and he gave me a discount since I got glasses and contacts. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. Gotta save up for new sunglasses now. read more

Overall really impressed. I needed new glasses for awhile but held off because I am broke. I saw a scoutmob for them and decided to use it. 50% off up to $300, can't hurt. I saw the optometrist on call, she was kind and helpful. Then I had to chose a frame. This can take awhile for anyone. The staff there were so helpful. I cannot stress that. They kept finding pairs of glasses that suit me. Let me try any pair in the store without seeming impatient at all. They even went to the back room to find pairs I liked in different colors and shapes. (Several times) The selection is HUGE and they really have all the name brands. Prices were fair. Ranging from 220 up, plus I had a scoutmob so 50% off. My frames cost $370 plus lense $140 and I got some anti glare for $95 (since I drive with glasses) and maybe some other extras. Final cost after taxes and everything was $360. Free eye exam, scoutmob and I think 20% for doing the exam there or something. I definitely recommend this place not just because of the price but the patience for customers who need to take their time finding the right frames. Great selection, great staff, informative and helpful with pricing for out of pocket vs. vision plan vs health flex account reimbursement. My friend had a great experience so I went back myself while living in the neighborhood. They are friendly and patient while you try on a thousand styles. Up to date vision screening set up on site. I moved to Jersey last year, but called Sam up this month and he was able to promptly get the retired Kate Spade frames I wanted shipped to my house. I brought in a brand new pair of glasses (purchased elsewhere) for a quick adjustment. They overheated my glasses and "crazed" the lenses. For those of you who don't know what "crazed" is (I have been wearing glasses for 40+ years and never heard the term) it means they ruined the coating on the lenses and made them unwearable. The employee went to the back to make the adjustment and brought back my glasses too hot to touch and full of tiny scratches. Again, have been wearing glasses for 40+ years, adjustments many many times and never had a problem. Beware!!! read more
